06/08/2025: What happened? The formerly top-notch food has risen considerably in price, but the taste is bland, and the portions have shrunk considerably. What a shame – dumplings (Tris) or Schlutzer (shrimp) with spinach for almost €20 is simply outrageous for a hut that can be reached by car. What a shame about this wonderful destination.

04/08/2025: The atmosphere is lovely and family-friendly, and the food is excellent, especially the ribs and chanterelle ravioli. The dessert is excellent, with strudel and black forest mushrooms. The dishes are generous, so you'll need to be hungry.

03/10/2025: We were really looking forward to a good pizza and were unfortunately disappointed. The pizza in the photo is my own homemade pizza. I'm used to pizzas from South Tyrol that are completely different. The dough was very light, didn't bubble, and had zero flavor, as is appropriate for a dough made with, for example, Caputo flour. It tasted more like a crispy pie crust. Despite the wood-fired oven, it wasn't a truly good pizza. I can't recommend it. The atmosphere was okay, and the enterprising waiter was very nice. This is what my pizzas at home look like, and they're not from a wood-fired oven.

03/10/2025: We ate at Bachler twice during our stay and were impressed by the quality and service. There's something for everyone on the menu. The daily specials are very good. Friendly, attentive, but never intrusive service. Their own pizza chef prepares pizzas at the oven. Truly a top recommendation.

01/08/2025: The restaurant is very large with several rooms. We were there for dinner, and I'd recommend making a reservation! The staff is very friendly. The menu is varied and truly excellent, with prices in line with the Val Badia norm! For risotto lovers, you must try the one with mountain pine, a delight. For beef lovers...the fillet is truly buttery! The desserts? Delicious! The portions are generous!

29/07/2025: We spent a week here cycling and hiking. The family and staff are very friendly, the food is fantastic, and the price is good. In our opinion, Ustaria Posta is the perfect base for exploring the Dolomites. Don't forget to ask Igor for some great tips; he certainly didn't disappoint!

14/09/2025: A great hotel recommended to us by locals. We were traveling with our motorcycles and were able to park them safely in the underground garage. The owners speak German and were very friendly and personable. The rooms are in excellent condition and very comfortably furnished. The view from the hotel is beautiful. Even though we arrived late, we still got a delicious dinner. The breakfast was very good.

11/09/2025: Had a great stay here. Would recommend to future travelers. Everything about our stay was very good. 4.5 stars across the board - cleanliness / condition of the hotel and facilities, comfort of the bed, breakfast and dinner foods, service. I’m rating Stua Catores 5 stars, though, because of the value. For what you pay I think you get outstanding value / quality. Strong recommendation to any future travelers reading this review. You won’t regret it.

16/03/2025: Avendo sentito da tanti conoscenti parlare del posto, abbiamo prenotato per la colazione. Il locale è carino, anche se la domenica dopo la messa c’è parecchio rumore al bar, e nella sala si sente tutto. Il buffet è limitato, poca scelta di pane e dolci, come pure dei formaggi. Per €29,00 ci si aspetta di più. Non tornerei. Molto gentile e attenta la signora in sala.

10/02/2025: My partner and I spent a wonderful long weekend. Past excellent ratings have proven true. Clean and spacious apartment. Excellent products in the hotel bar/shop and present at breakfast time. But the thing that really leaves its mark is the kindness of the staff, available to give advice and to help the customer, if possible. Thank you very much and if possible see you soon.

17/07/2025: Everything was wonderful! The room was very nice and comfortable—perfect for our family with two children. The breakfast was delicious and varied. Mr. Gummerer was very friendly and incredibly nice; thank you for everything! We'd love to come back.

24/04/2025: Very familiar, beautiful view No matter where I have traveled, nowhere has it been as beautiful as here. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our time, I've only heard good things about their food but I'll definitely be back here if I go to South Tyrol. Very cute, great animals. The perfect place to switch off. And if something happened or we had questions, someone was there to help straight away

04/09/2025: Very friendly service; we had homemade tagliatelle with porcini mushroom ragout, dumpling trio with salad, and apple strudel to finish. Everything tasted excellent.

13/04/2025: Due punti. Solo perché il primo scelto alla fine era buono (anche se, a dirla tutta, il menù prevedeva poche specialità locali ed elaborazioni discutibili, oppure piatti non tipici, come i miei strozzapreti, che sono trentini...). Su tutto il resto stendiamo un velo pietoso perché è evidente che la gestione del locale è in mano a personale totalmente inadeguato, incapace di gestire i picchi e a rapportarsi con la clientela in modo cortese e professionale. Prima di tutto: il tavolo me lo sono creato da solo, spostando barili e sedie. Dopodiché, anziché ringraziarmi, il caposala ha pensato bene di farmi ordinare e ammonirmi di non scappare senza pagare perché ci sono le telecamere a sorvegliare. Ma io mi chiedo: ma che modi sono? Additarmi come un ladro così, gratuitamente? Vergogna! Quantomeno, avrei gradito un servizio impeccabile, e invece in una giornata da tutto esaurito, il personale era ai minimi storici, un'ora per un primo piatto e, a mia domanda su che fine avesse fatto (stavano mangiando tutti i tavoli che avevano ordinato dopo di me che ero da solo, primi piatti compresi), la prima risposta è stata "no non puoi chiedere", la seconda è stata "se hai ordinato arriva", e solo la terza volta magicamente è comparso il piatto. Ho quindi evitato il dolce e pensavo di bere un caffè al banco. Cosa invece non possibile e quindi l'ho dovuto ordinare. Stessa scena. A quel punto, avendo già pagato con l'ordine, sono entrato io al banco a ritirarlo in autonomia: era sul bancone che aspettava da chissà quanto. Che vergogna. E soprattutto, che imbarazzo: la Badia non ha bisogno di locali del genere, che si fregiano di essere rifugi storici e invece farebbero meglio a cedere il passo ad altri!

29/09/2025: A quick detour after a hike. Despite many advance reservations, we still managed to get a table. The food was delicious, quick, and plentiful. We had a great time and would gladly come back.

27/08/2025: First the positives – the service was very attentive and friendly, and the side salad was OK. The main courses, however, were exceptionally bad. The cordon bleu didn't deserve the name; it was about 0.5 cm thick, the quality of a bad chip shop, and it came with a very small handful of fries. The pork fillet in bacon was meager, and the hash browns were neither roasted nor tasty; most likely from a bag from the supermarket (a convenience store product). The cordon bleu probably came from there too. With prices of around €23, the quality here was clearly not up to scratch; there are much better restaurants in Castelrotto and the surrounding area. The outdated terrace design could also be improved. It's a shame, because I had been looking forward to a visit to the Schlernhexe for a long time. The restaurant used to be really good, but unfortunately this will probably be our last visit.
