03/09/2024: On a warm summer evening we ate outside the restaurant, with a glimpse of the lake. Good food, well presented, and the waitress was very kind even though she had a lot to do and was alone. Careful and attentive service. Worth a stop.

29/08/2024: We were in Il Portale in June and are still talking about this restaurant, so it’s about time to write a review. We totally loved it here, cosy restaurant with a view of the lake, delicious food en very friendly service. The lady who served us spoke very well English en explained all the local specialties on the menu. She had a lot of knowledge about her products and you could see she was very proud of them. We loved the slow cooked egg with the local mountain cheese, the risotto with ossobuco and the home made bread of long fermentation with the delicious olive oil from Sicily! @Restorante Il Portale: We would be very happy if you could share with us the name of that olive oil , since we have been thinking about it ever since. Thank you 🙏!

22/11/2024: Excellent rediscovery. We frequented it years ago, we returned and found the same courtesy and care. More than excellent food. Have been back several times and will return. The only flaw is that it is only open for lunch.

The cellar has a very wide variety of wines and, finally, the bathrooms are also clean! What are you waiting for???? Bon appetit to all of you who go to the Smoking Hen!!!

30/10/2024: We live on the lake and have tried every ice cream parlor - this one is by far the best. The ice cream is sensational – the selection is incredible. We especially recommend the chestnut ice cream, as well as Tiramisu/Zuppa Englese or Amaretto.

02/08/2024: Very nice, old-fashioned pastry shop. The brioches were good and very filling (I think my chocolate one was filled with Venchi Cream or equivalent). Large assortment of biscuits at an excellent price. I'll be back.

16/08/2024: Ci siamo fermati per caso durante un giro in moto. Situato in piazzetta al centro di Intra, fronte lago. Staff educato che non perde tempo. Non avendo pranzato mi sono lanciata su una spettacolare sfoglia con “tartare piemontese, cipolla rossa caramellata…”. Spero di poter tornare per provare altre proposte. Bravi.

10/08/2024: Dieser Lokal ist nicht schlecht. Das Essen ist einfach. Man muss kein grosses Abendessen erwarten. Die Bedienung ist nett. Es gibt einen Laden zum Restaurant, der vom Chef betrieben wird. Er ist leider sehr unanständig und primitiv. Wenn man ihn eine Frage stellt wird man vom ihm niedergemacht, wenn er die Antwort nicht weiss. Ich gehe nie mehr dorthin.

27/08/2024: Na een dagje strand leuke pizzeria. Zowel prima pizza (redelijk dunne bodem) en pasta carbonara. Vrolijke attente bediening (meertalig). Liep snel vol vanaf 19:00 (open vanaf 18:30). We kregen zonder reservering een tafeltje binnen. Daar was het ook gezellig

01/11/2024: Amazing little restaurant away from the touristic places. If you want amazing classic Italian dishes, go here. The place is run by 2 people and so you're lucky to get a table. But if you do, you won't regret it! I had the best carbonara of my life and we made a beautiful connection with the chef and his colleague. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

11/10/2024: The two of us were there several times. My wife got gluten-free pasta, risotto, fish or meat dishes, etc. The menu selection is very good, the food is delicious and the service is good. Tip/Note: Try starters (mussels 1+, bresaola) and desserts. Pizza is only available in the evenings. We'll be back! The exterior appearance takes some getting used to, but the location right on the lake with an open terrace and a large dining room is very nice.

10/11/2024: Excellent cappuccino and croissant, but the honorable mention goes to the pastries, very good of high quality and, added value for me as I am from Turin, they are small and well-finished unlike the local ones which, despite being good to my taste, are too much Unfortunately, despite maintaining the opinion on the products unchanged, I have to point out a big problem of empathy and education on the part of the truly unpleasant service workers. As a Chinese proverb says: if you don't know how to smile, don't open a shop.
