26/01/2025: I had the privilege of having an extraordinary culinary experience at the Piazza Duomo restaurant in Alba, a true starred gem that deserves every praise. Our evening was an unforgettable sensory journey, enriched by a wine journey dedicated to Barolo, which expertly accompanied each dish with six selected glasses.
The experience began with a delicious Turin aperitif, a perfect prelude to what lay ahead. We continued with the winemaker's salad, a dish that highlighted the freshness and quality of local ingredients. Among the courses, the snails with polenta stood out, a bold and exquisite combination, and the sweetbread lasagne, a true revelation, which transported us to a world of authentic flavours.
I cannot fail to mention the Jersey mushroom dish, which added a touch of originality to our gastronomic journey. To conclude on a high note, the pumpkin seed and malghesino brittle, together with the profiteroles and the Cavour biscuit with zabaglione, represented the perfect culmination of an unforgettable dinner.
Each course was a chapter of a story that took us on a unique journey through the flavors and traditions of the area. The staff was impeccable, attentive and passionate, and the location, with its elegance and refined atmosphere, made everything even more special.
If you are looking for a culinary experience that leaves its mark, you cannot miss Piazza Duomo. It's a real journey into the heart of Italian gastronomy!

01/01/2025: L’Osteria moderna si trova non poco lontano dal centro di Alba, davanti allo sferisterio Mermet, il “Maracanà delle Langhe”. L’osteria è moderna nel nome ma contemporanea nell’arredamento e nell’idea di cucina che propone: piatti della tradizione piemontese accanto a sperimentazioni e incursioni nella cucina asiatica. L’esperimento è riuscito: ho assaggiato uno “schrimp&chips” con un gambero freschissimo e dei guizza con capesante e gamberi davvero niente male. Servizio attento e cordiale, avrei soltanto un suggerimento: accostare nel menú una minima descrizione del dolce o almeno dei suoi componenti, i nomi dei dolci sono sì intriganti ma risultano davvero poco chiari

10/01/2025: ci aspettavamo molto di più. la cena alla fine è risultata nella media ne lodi ne meriti, vitello tonnato a ns giudizio un po troppo "saporito" carne cruda nella normalità, tajarin con TARTUFO d'Alba visto, mangiato, pagato ma non ci siamo accorti che cera. Personale molto freddo, scostante
conclusione, per noi, nulla di particolare.

We visited Alba recently and opted for this restaurant for lunch. We were not wrong at all.
Wonderful attention from the staff.
The food was all delicious, the waiting times correct, the meat incredible.
Good wine list to accompany the food.
The beautiful place.
If we return to Alba in the future we will return.
08/12/2024: Excellent lunch in the center of Alba
We managed to find a seat in this lovely restaurant in the center of Alba. It has seating both outside and inside and I recommend booking. The staff has always been kind and friendly: an absolutely positive note. The menu is the classic Piedmontese one with truffle variations. We chose the venison carpaccio with black truffle (€18) and the tajarin with white truffle (€40): both excellent dishes, the carpaccio was abundant and refined but obviously the point of excellence in both was the truffle. For the second course we opted for the veal cheek braised in Barolo with potato cream (€20): sublime! The meat was wonderful as was the seasoning - the portion was generous. It was all accompanied with a side dish of vegetables (mixed between carrots, potatoes, broccoli, onions and cauliflower). We concluded with the wonderful hazelnut cake with ice cream and two coffees. Overall the bill was €120: very respectable given the location, the service, the quantity and quality of the dishes. Highly recommended!

27/12/2024: Ci siamo fermati al nostro arrivo ad Alba per un pranzo veloce. Buona l’accoglienza anche perché il locale era vuoto. Proposta molto interessante anche per i vegetariani. Vitello tonnato rivisitato molto gustoso. Forse il prezzo un po’ eccessivo visto che abbiamo chiesto due calici di vino, un antipasto due secondi e un dolce 85 euro.
15/12/2024: We had lunch at the Albamare in Alba choosing two tasting menus: one from the land and one from the sea, accompanied by two excellent local wines, an Arneis and a Barbera. The experience was simply fantastic, a true journey through authentic flavors and tradition.
Each course highlighted the exceptional quality of the raw materials and attention to detail. The plin, in particular, stood out for their taste and delicacy, a true masterpiece of Piedmontese cuisine. Even the seafood dishes provided very pleasant surprises, with balanced combinations and unparalleled freshness.
The welcome was warm and genuine, with impeccable service and a pleasant chat with the owners, father and son, who passionately convey their love for their work. This human touch made the lunch even more special.
A high-level culinary experience. Absolutely recommended!

01/02/2025: It might have been an anomaly but when we dined there this summer the service was really disappointing. Long waits and the waitress knew absolutely nothing about wine but pretended to. Overall not a pleasant experience and not the cheapest. The food was good though

Unfortunately, the downside is they allowed animals into the dining area.
I should not need to share my dining experience with animals. I will probably not return to any high-priced establishment that permits such.

12/01/2025: Very well-kept, somewhat cool atmosphere but warm welcome. Small menu (positive), huge wine list with a large selection of champagne with 304 positions, plus Barbaresco and Barolo with vintage depth. Everything at fairly calculated prices. We chose the four-course Langhe menu with Vitello tonnato, the best we've eaten so far, with excellent Vitello cooked to perfection and an ingenious tuna sauce. Then tagliolini al limone with the finest lemon sauce, of course without cream or anything similar. Perfectly cooked al dente and with a finely balanced lemon flavor.
The Brasato al Barolo as the third course, the finest beef, braised until tender with a wonderful Barolo sauce. A light pannacotta for dessert.
As an aperitif an Alta Langa DOCG and with dinner a Barolo Bussia 2015 from Fenocchio, which delighted us more with every sip.
An excellent menu in a pleasant atmosphere with very good service at a fair price.
Keep it up.

However, we would have liked to try the white truffle but when ordering we were informed that it was not available despite both the menu displayed outside the restaurant (on the pedestal that allows you to consult the dishes before entering) and the menu brought to the table with the dishes with the white truffles were present and no one warned us that they were not available until the moment of ordering.
I believe that if a restaurant in Alba does not have white truffles (displayed on the menu) it should warn a customer in advance who is most likely sitting at one of its tables to try it.

Simple but very welcoming environment.
Very tasty and well balanced food.
Honorable mention goes to the panna cotta with cocoa crumble and toffee, really good and with lots of pieces of vanilla.
19/01/2025: Careful service, not excessively formal, from a brilliant guy. If he notices that the glass is almost empty, he pours you the wine. Totally underground place, without windows, but far from being gloomy or damp. A lot of work has certainly been done to make it pleasant in terms of temperature and air quality. The furnishings and equipment are in a minimal style: tablecloth and cloth napkins in neutral tones, cutlery and double glass. The only small flaw is a chipped glass, which however does not affect the quality of the evening. Let's move on to food. Small welcome entrée with a scoop of Russian salad, bread, focaccia and breadsticks, then the first courses arrived. Two tagliolini, one with sausage ragout, very tasty, and one with butter and black truffle. There is a separate list for the dishes that can be ordered with truffles, on this occasion only black: it was very fragrant and plentiful on the plate, worth the money spent. The meat-based second courses consisted of a braised pork neck that melted in the mouth and a very tender, medium-cooked shoulder fillet. The shoulder fillet is a rarity and I appreciated it. For both dishes, a side dish of baked potatoes and carrots, well cooked and flavored with aromatic herbs. For dessert we had a Basque cheesecake (just the right amount, more would be heavy for me) and a cup of cream ice cream with sauces and crumbled biscuits. The ice cream was full of lemony aromas and with an excellent consistency. Wide choice of wines, we took a young, soft Barbera, which at the end of dinner was corked and given to us in a bag to finish at home. Unfortunately in many places it seems like a burden to have to close the leftover wine for the customer, this is not the case! Bill commensurate with the quality of what we ate and the service: around €50 each, excluding wine. There is the possibility, in my opinion convenient, to choose the complete tasting menu for €40, interesting for those who want an overview of Piedmontese cuisine.

We had joke, vitello with tuna sauce and goat's herb flan as a starter; gnocchi al Bra and sliced to follow. Bill of 53 euros. Good meat (even if the rare cut was cold). The first left something to be desired: very soft dumpling and little cheese flavour.
