It's a 3-star hotel, a bit dated...but the cleanliness of the bathroom, the breakfast (rich: homemade sweets and savory, fresh fruit), and the location are the strong points of this hotel. 03/02/2026: My partner and I booked a table here for one evening during our stay on Elba Island in June 2023. I should start by saying we don't know what the restaurant is like inside, as we dined on the covered veranda overlooking the sea, which was very pretty. The staff was friendly, but not at all professional or knowledgeable. The service was clumsy and bordering on ridiculous. We ordered two plates of seafood linguine; the pasta was overcooked, and the fish was visibly frozen (which I couldn't understand, given that Rio Marina is located by the sea and Elba offers a wide variety of fresh seafood everywhere). Everything was way too salty, wallowing in the watery sauce. The bottle of wine we ordered wasn't available, so we relied on the waitress. The wine was good. The fried fish was extremely salty and overcooked; we had to leave it because it was inedible. We finished with two terrible coffees, but they didn't ruin the dinner we'd just finished. The bill arrived, if possible, more expensive than the dishes listed above. A real disaster. I never write negative reviews, but that dinner ruined the rest of the evening, and we were annoyed that, even though we hadn't eaten anything, no one bothered to ask what the problem was. I don't recommend it.

12/01/2026: The dishes didn't live up to the very beautiful location. The spiciness was too much, covering the flavor of the fish and the dish. In fact, to be honest, the flavor of the fish was very, very mild. The staff was very friendly and the prices were fair.

26/08/2025: A truly positive experience The place doesn't have a sea view, but it's right on the sea, away from the crowds and noise. You don't see the sun set, but the moon rise. The pizza and schiacciatine are excellent, because the pizza chef has, I'd say, thirty years of experience!!! The owners are kind and professional, and the waitress is attentive and friendly. Highly recommended

16/07/2025: I don't usually write reviews, but in this case, I think everyone should know where they're going and not be misled by other people's good reviews. My family and I came at lunchtime to eat together—there were five of us. However, we couldn't order anything other than sandwiches. We asked for mojitos: two with alcohol and two without. The mojitos had spoiled mint and stale lemon. The drink tasted disappointing and was unpleasant. We addressed the issue with the bartender, but received only negative comments. Furthermore, the service was disgusting: the women were unfriendly and rude. I don't recommend this cafe. I usually don't write reviews, but this time I feel that everyone should know where they are going and not be misled by the good reviews of others. 10/10/2025: The price for what you got is too expensive if you see what you get it is not even close to what you get on a one to ten basis I would say a two maximum!! I am disappointed!!

07/04/2026: The new chef has radically transformed the experience: the cuisine has gone from mediocre to excellent. Fresh pasta takes center stage, complemented by high-quality fish sauces and solid meat options. A marked improvement in quality and technique, while maintaining absolutely fair prices. A must-visit destination for gourmets.

19/03/2026: L'Approdo remains my favorite when the good weather arrives. I'm lucky enough to have a house in Piombino, just a few minutes by ferry from Rio Marina. Located in the center of town, Paolo, with his professionalism and passion, always delights us with quality dishes and the catch of the day. I recommend it.

16/11/2025: We returned to this restaurant for the second time, but the experience was disappointing. The fixed menu cost €25, and we were given only the menu of dishes, without the drinks menu or prices. The quantity of food was average, but essential information was missing, such as a list of allergens and a specification of whether the products were fresh or frozen. The extras were not very transparent: desserts €5, freshly bottled wine €6, plastic water €2, cans €3, coffee €1.50. The restaurant really needs a refresh, especially the veranda area, which appears neglected. If the goal is to offer an experience similar to other "all-you-can-eat" restaurants, then imposing kitchen closing times makes no sense: doing so only risks disappointing customers.
