25/02/2026: We came with four and the two tables outside were put together swiftly to seat us in the sun. The antipasti was of great variety and really delicious. We had two different pastas as mains, both really good. The pistachio tiramisu and pear chocolate cake both blew us away.
Honestly this is a great place with super friendly service. Highly recommended.
11/02/2026: We stumbled upon it one Sunday by chance, having run into an unexpected problem. And it was a pleasant surprise. The dishes are traditional, and it's a family-run business. The appetizer was delicious, and the pork shank was excellent.

15/02/2026: But why stop at 5 stars? I'd give it 10! The four of us ate a plate of calamari and fruit, a potato chip, two horse meatballs, a slaw, a pistachio roll, a pasta alla norma and a pasta with swordfish and water, a 66 cl beer, and a liter of coke. The price was absolutely fair, and the portions were generous. But above all, the quality was excellent. Definitely worth a try. One of the best restaurants in Catania. Delicious.
06/02/2026: The soul of Catania on a plate! A wealth of flavors, excellent service, and a wonderful family atmosphere in a restaurant full of Italians. Many locals, which demonstrates the authenticity of this cuisine. Delicious food at a reasonable price. I regret discovering this restaurant only two days before my trip, because I would have eaten there every day.

11/10/2025: I've been coming to Catania for work for five years, and Taverna del Grande Albero is a regular stop.
First of all, I find quality and courtesy here, but above all, I feel like I'm at home. The owners have become like family to me. I GO TO FILIPPO'S, I say every time!!!!
Always friendly, always hospitable, they never fail to chat with the customers, and I highly recommend it!! I've attached photos so you can fully understand my satisfaction. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the spectacular seafood appetizer!

05/03/2026: Good restaurant in the city center, good portions and fresh ingredients. The staff is great and they speak both Italian and English. Fair prices too.
01/03/2026: A Sunday lunch with friends, nostalgic for Sunday meatballs in tomato sauce and the bruschetta of the day (trust the chef), all topped off with an exquisite limoncello. Highly recommended, and I'll be back to try the "acqua u linzolu" pasta and the grilled octopus.

26/02/2026: If you are visiting Catania, you CAN’T miss this place.
I can’t forget how fresh the fish was and how tasty every dish was. Everything feels as if it’s cooked by your mum, in the most traditional and generous Sicilian way of cooking, where food is a true expression of love and caring.
I’m looking forward to going back to my hometown and treating myself to Catania Ruffiana!

14/01/2026: I was pleasantly welcomed by the owner's authentic and genuine hospitality. The cuisine is traditional yet refined.
The dishes are prepared with top-quality ingredients. There's an excellent selection of Sicilian wines. The atmosphere is designed specifically to make you feel at home. I recommend it to those with discerning palates who appreciate a restaurant with heart and soul. I'll be back with others very soon.

Prices are very reasonable and competitive.
Quality of the pizza itself is top notch, dough was crusty and very tasty, toppings were very well balanced.
Pizzoli was also very tasty but isn’t my type of food, but we enjoyed it.
Staff was super friendly and by far the best we have experienced on our trip in Sicily.

The four brothers gave us a warm and simple welcome.
Delicious food and fresh fish.
The homemade desserts were delicious.
They offered us a tasting of local grappa: excellent.

02/03/2026: Passing by many times on my way to work, I've always noticed this place is packed with people. Today I decided to try it, and I haven't regretted it at all. The staff was super friendly and the service impeccable. We tried an appetizer, a plate of spaghetti carbonara, and a Caesar salad. Everything was truly delicious and high-quality. I'll definitely be back to try everything else. I highly recommend it!

08/12/2025: It was our first time and we loved it. The staff were very kind and welcoming. The owner told us their story, passed down from grandfather to father and now sons.
We ate two platters, and had a bit of a wait for the second one. Two excellent carbonaras. The dishes were beautifully presented.

15/12/2025: I attended an eighteenth birthday party, the Gloria room was very beautiful and elegant, the food did not satisfy me, poor quantity and quality, the staff was not up to the standard of the room, I understand that the work is not the best and is very hard, but a minimum of friendliness and courtesy never hurts, some of these things need to be reviewed and it can certainly improve and become one of the top villas to be able to celebrate any type of event
26/11/2025: A beautiful venue with several well-appointed reception rooms. The terrace adjacent to the dining rooms offers a splendid view. The dishes are all high-quality and beautifully presented. The friendly and helpful staff offer expert advice, making the venue unique. Kudos to the owners for their dedication and sacrifice in running such a demanding business.
