02/06/2026: A truly enjoyable evening at Taverna Antico Agnello. We started with an excellent veal with tuna sauce—soft and tender meat, perfectly balanced sauce, a perfectly executed classic. The borage and ricotta ravioli were delicious: high-quality fresh pasta, a delicate and fragrant filling, a first course that speaks of care and local tradition. The breaded lamb ribs confirmed the house's vocation: precise cooking, crispy crust, succulent meat. The side dish was tasty and well-matched. Also noteworthy were the freshest breadsticks and bread—a detail that makes all the difference and is by no means a given. The staff is professional and courteous, the service quick and without waiting. The price is more than fair for the overall quality. A place we'll gladly return to and recommend without hesitation.

05/08/2026: A very nice restaurant with an incredible view. It was great to be able to have a coffee at the bar before your meal. It's a bit of a shame you can't reserve a table. And the prices are a little high.

31/07/2026: A truly pleasant experience. Excellent dishes, carefully prepared with quality ingredients, in a stunning location. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and always available. A restaurant definitely worth a visit.

01/06/2026: Every year we treat ourselves to dinner at this inn, with a top-notch restaurant. The option of both indoor and outdoor seating is noteworthy. The location, in a tiny village, is certainly not attractive. The place is impressive, both inside and out. I won't go into detail about the dishes; they're all truly excellent; you're spoiled for choice. The wine cellar is top-notch, but for those like me, there are some wines available by the glass. The service is good, but I think they could add bread plates. The bill is reasonable, but it's worth it.

18/05/2026: Veruno (with Gattico after the merger) is known for the Maugeri Clinic, where those who have undergone various types of surgery go for rehabilitation. I didn't expect to find a sumptuously furnished "Trattoria con Alloggio" (as it says after a Google search) frequented by numerous foreigners. L'Olimpia (this is the name of the restaurant featured in today's gastronomic investigation) is located in the town center, near the parish church. Inconspicuous from the outside, once inside, you find yourself in welcoming rooms arranged around a courtyard used on sunny summer days, where an olive tree takes pride of place (somewhat poorly pollarded to control a tree eager to reach the sun's rays). We are greeted by the owner, Mr. Matteo Greco, who leaves us in the hands of the dining room staff, composed, we believe, of long-time experts alongside younger, yet solidly trained, staff. As always, we're the first guests in the room, so we're quickly provided with menus, while the wine list, we're told, can be accessed via a QR code printed on a card placed on our table. The menu is divided into a land-based menu and a seafood menu. We opt for the latter because the lovely evening tempts us with fresher, lighter fare. We begin with pickled perch fillets on a bed of lamb's lettuce, followed by tagliolini with nettles, Mazzara shrimp tartare, and Salina capers for the main course, and conclude with grilled cuttlefish and squid, accompanied by baked potatoes for me and cooked vegetables for Watson. For dessert, a simple green apple sorbet. A coffee concludes the dinner, which is accompanied from appetizer to dessert by a bottle of Roberto Garbarino's Alta Langa L'istinto rosé extra brut 2021. Chef Sebastiano Greco, the owner's father, knows his stuff in the kitchen, and everything is well-prepared, though I didn't find the extra something in the dishes I'd expected from such a prestigious location. Mind you, from appetizers to dessert, I found everything delicious, but it lacked the charm I found throughout the restaurant. Maybe it's just a one-off evening for me or the kitchen, or maybe it's the change of season that also changes the menus... Further investigation will be necessary soon. In the meantime, I recommend trying it and giving your own opinion.

13/06/2026: The place is very welcoming, as are the staff, who even without a reservation, immediately escorted me to my table. As for the food, the products were high-quality. We chose various dishes, both meat and fish, and all were excellent, with unusual pairings. Everything was accompanied by a good wine, selected by them, and the result was a top-notch dinner. I recommend this place to everyone, much better than other restaurants I've tried on the lakeside.

29/05/2026: Last night we had dinner at the Giardinetto restaurant in Pettenasco. It was offered by my dear nephews. The location was magnificent, the staff were very kind and knowledgeable. We chose the exceptional lake menu. It was a magnificent evening.

11/08/2026: Very nice and welcoming atmosphere. Dishes prepared with excellent ingredients and cooked with great skill. The staff was impeccable and friendly. The bill was fair for the quality offered... Highly recommended!

07/08/2026: We have eaten here twice within 4 days so far, simply because it is incredibly delicious! The flavors are refined and you can tell that the ingredients are of high quality. The smoked goose carpaccio and the gnocchi with ragu were delicious! The other dishes we ate certainly didn't fall short! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the location is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended!

10/08/2026: We went to Pinin a few days ago and tried their tasting menu featuring their most iconic dishes. What can we say? We were surprised, both by the quantity and the quality. It was a varied, rich, and tasty aperitif, with so many different choices, from the truly delicious tongue in salsa verde to the pickles and beautifully sliced, delicious cured meats! Then we moved on to their champagne and porcini risotto, excellent—plenty, perhaps too much, but so good we couldn't help but finish it. Creamy, with a truly special creaminess. Finally, the cheek. We were too full to fully enjoy it, but it was also worthy of praise! All this was accompanied by an excellent wine, an excellent Travaglini di Gattinara Nebbiolo! And finally, thanks to the service managed by Patrizia and Cristiane, two fantastic, friendly women who were always attentive to our needs and amiable in chatting with us. The owner who welcomed us was also truly kind, even giving us a discount on the final price! Highly recommended.

10/08/2026: Amazing restaurant with a phenomenal view. We went here by boat from the lake and the staff was very sweet. Food was absolutely 10/10. We will come back!

02/08/2026: Beautiful setting, but by far the worst meal in Italy. Bland food, overpriced for the quality and flavors offered. To avoid a bad evening, go somewhere else; you won't be any less disappointed.

04/05/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stayed at Antico Verbano on May 2 and 3, 2026, and couldn't have asked for a better stay for our mini-family vacation (2 adults and 2 children). **Strengths:** * **The View:** Waking up to Lake Maggiore right below your balcony is a rejuvenating experience. The location is truly "pieds dans l'eau," and the panoramic view is breathtaking, especially with the spring colors of early May. * **Family Space:** We stayed in a spacious and well-maintained Family Apartment. Having two separate bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchenette (complete with dishwasher and microwave) made everything much easier and more relaxing than in a traditional hotel room. * **Strategic Location:** The resort is perfectly located in Meina. A short drive took us to Arona and Stresa for our tour of the Borromean Islands, but it was equally wonderful to enjoy the tranquility of the property and its meticulously maintained garden. * **Welcome:** The staff was extremely kind and professional, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The on-site restaurant was also excellent for a quality dinner without having to leave the car. **In summary:** If you're looking for a place that combines the comforts of home with the charm of a high-end resort, this is the place. The kids had fun and we enjoyed a relaxing stay. We'll definitely be back.

11/08/2026: The only truly negative note: the welcome. Upon entry, I simply asked for a table inside, given the decidedly uninviting temperatures outside. A request that was clearly considered almost offensive by the person who welcomed us, who showed some annoyance and pointed to what he claimed was the only available table: coincidentally, right next to the air conditioning. Too bad that, after just five minutes, a couple sitting outside asked to eat inside, and as if by magic, a free table appeared right next to ours. Apparently, the concept of "only table available" is rather flexible. A small detail? Perhaps. But the way you welcome a guest makes all the difference, and in this case, it wasn't the best. Let's just say that hospitality was left out this evening... along with the available tables.
