06/10/2025: Went yesterday with a couple of Thai friends and their son. We arrived late, but a kind and friendly gentleman seated us anyway! I wasn't that hungry, so I only had a really delicious cheese platter. My friends had pasta dishes, which they loved. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. I'll gladly go back, I recommend it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

23/02/2026: It's 5 star. The food, the ambience, the location. I can say that it wasn't potluck for the one Sunday lunch I had because I have been going there for the last 25 years and I've never had a bad experience. I've seen this restaurant expand and grow and move a generation. They will be celebrating with much pride their 40th anniversary this year. This restaurant is famed for fish dishes but also do offer meat occasionally. Their menu is constantly updated and they offer a superb wine list. Everything is quality. I will never stop going to this restaurant which happens to be my favorite on Lago Maggiore.

07/02/2026: Arrived Saturday, February 7th No hot water in the room At 8:30 PM, reception said we had to wait 2 hours… At 10:30 PM, still nothing, and reception was no longer answering the phone. They leave customers without answers or a solution.

31/03/2026: I went on Sunday to get a pizza 🍕 (with great disappointment, I didn't find the usual pizza chef,) I finally tasted real pizza after years.... Exquisite dough, light etc... After having tasted the one on Sunday, I will never go back... terrible pizza with discount ingredients... Practically thrown away

25/03/2026: I returned to this place after several years. Something has changed, but the quality of the food and the kindness of the staff are still the same as I remembered. Recommended.

08/03/2026: Sunday lunch, Tredicino festival, two families with children. We hadn't booked, but they seated us anyway. We ordered first and second courses, all excellent, and the staff were really friendly. Recommended.

02/03/2026: Very good with a beautiful view of the lake!! The desserts are a real treat!! They even offered us a schiacciata.

04/04/2026: We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday evening and were told there was seating both inside and outside, so the place wasn't entirely full. We had to wait in the cold for over an hour for pizzas. At one point, after several complaints, they brought us breadsticks to stave off our hunger, but told us there was still a wait. What's more, when it came to the bill, they didn't even apologize, but were just plain sarcastic. I'll overlook the €3 cover charge for paper placemats on the tables, salvaged from grandma's house!

10/01/2026: Excellent pizza, with a few carefully prepared dishes. Attentive service, and they accommodated our needs when my wife was pregnant. Four stars because we tried calling twice (during business hours) and they didn't answer. In the end, we went anyway and it was open—so much the better!

06/02/2026: Let me preface this by saying... I'm only giving it one star so I can publish this review at all... I would actually give it MINUS 500 stars. This hotel is completely unsuitable for families with dogs, even though it advertises itself extensively online and on-site with "Pets Welcome." Why am I writing this, or rather, warning other families with dogs about this hotel? ... - We wanted to enjoy a nice vacation at Lake Maggiore from June 28th to July 5th, 2025, and booked this hotel based on the promised conditions: * Room/suite with a reserved/private outdoor area (great for us because of our dog and our SUPs) * Direct lake access (great for us, as we know how difficult it is to get to/from the lake with a dog and SUPs otherwise) * Hotel staff who speak German * Hotel parking - We arrived on the afternoon of June 28th, 2025, and what did we find? * Room/suite with a balcony offering no shade for most of the day, instead of the booked room/suite with a reserved outdoor area * Using the direct lake access with our dog was impossible, as we would have had to walk through the pool area, which is generally off-limits to dogs. At reception, we were told to find a suitable swimming spot on the lake by car or on foot. The dog can go in... what? What was the point of booking a hotel with private lake access then? * The dog is not allowed to be left alone in the room/suite at any time, under threat of a substantial fine from reception. This meant that we, as a family, couldn't even go swimming or eat in the hotel restaurant (e.g., breakfast, dinner). One of us would have always had to stay with the dog while the others ate or went swimming. This is not what you expect from a family vacation. * Communication was only possible in English, not German. Luckily, our daughter, with her excellent English, took over. Under these circumstances, we didn't check into the room/suite and left. Unfortunately, we had already paid for the room/suite in full beforehand. We asked the receptionist about a refund, and she told us to contact management. We did so promptly, but so far without success. We haven't received a single cent back to this day, and we can assume that our unoccupied room/suite was promptly re-let during peak season. The hotel owner has clearly double-dived. One thing is certain: we will never return to Lake Maggiore or the Hotel Antico Verbano in Meina, and we absolutely cannot recommend it.
