10/04/2026: Excellent service and superb food.

07/04/2026: A restaurant that has very little of the grotto feel, starting with the dishes and everything else. I'll start with the positives: the staff is very fast and all the waiters are extremely courteous. The view is truly beautiful. From the elevated position, you can see the lake. The terrace is spacious and they allow you to eat outside as soon as the temperatures are acceptable, which isn't always a given. The prices are fair and the menu is varied. We only tried the pizza, which, honestly, I didn't like. I found it bland; the tomato and mozzarella weren't anything special, but the oregano was delicious. I've certainly had worse, but also better. I'd recommend trying the rest of the menu; some dishes looked inviting. Prices are in CHF, but if you pay by card, the charge is in euros, obviously with an exchange rate markup. The clientele is made up of many smokers, who, oblivious to the tables next to them, light up one cigarette after another. I understand that it's outside, but given the space, maybe they could set aside one area for smokers and another for children or non-smokers.

Right by the side of the lake, great service and food that will not be the most amazing in your life, but that is correct. Without a doubt, the best thing this restaurant has going for it is the surroundings and the personnel.

30/11/2025: Skip the tourist traps in the square and come around the corner to this small but delicious restaurant. The seafood risotto was amazing, the pasta fresh, and paired with the house wine for only €10 per 1/2 liter and only a €2 cover. The price to value cannot be beat.

06/05/2026: Stopped here to just enjoy a couple of drinks and people watch,it's perfect for that. Enjoyed the snacks they brought to the table and decided to order some mussels to share. They were lovely and tasted fresh. The staff were good,though I think a couple were new and after ordering some more drinks,they seemed to have forgotten. No problem though,we asked someone else (i can only assume he was in charge of the staff)who apologised and brought them straight out. Atmosphere was good,lots of people chatting and just watching the world go by. 3 young men across the road were playing their violins too,which just added to the whole vibe..they were great too..would recommend for a couple of drinks,snacks and people watching...not sure about the larger meals as didn't order,but lovely place

05/05/2026: Dear Funiculare Team, For over 35 years we have been your guests and have stayed at your hotel many times. It always felt like coming home when we visited. Unfortunately, this was probably the last time. We used to be the focus as guests, but now it seems to us that only maximizing profits is the priority. The music blares loudly from the speakers, the cozy atmosphere is gone, the staff are energetically trying to solicit new customers as they walk by instead of paying attention to the guests already there, and in our opinion, the food has become rather subpar. And to top it all off, our waiter turned away without a word after we left a 10% tip. The restaurant's location is beautiful, and it has such a long history. It would be wonderful if the management could restore the restaurant to its former glory.

07/04/2026: The best pizza and calzone I've ever eaten, fantastic dough, unlike anything I've ever had, welcoming atmosphere, and best of all, finding a place in Italy that speaks our language (Brazilian Portuguese) with such friendliness! Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality!

25/03/2026: Consistent excellence: from signature banquets to business lunches. As a photographer, my work often takes me to the finest restaurants for events and weddings. I already knew this establishment for the exceptional quality of their wedding receptions, but today I decided to try it for a midday lunch and was absolutely blown away. Restaurants that cater to large numbers often struggle to maintain the same quality in their à la carte service, but here the attention to detail is the same. Excellent dishes, superior ingredients, and visually impeccable presentation (which, for someone like me who thrives on images, always makes the difference). Service is prompt but never rushed. Absolute confirmation: excellence here is not the exception, but the rule.

18/02/2026: I eat lunch at Croce di Malta practically every day; despite this, the menu is never boring. The staff is elegant and friendly. Prices vary depending on the starter, main course, and single course, up to a maximum of €15-16. Portions are adequate.

07/04/2026: We ate here one weekend. The salads were delicious, beautifully presented, and the price/performance ratio was very good. The service was friendly. Unfortunately, cover charge now costs €2 🙈 The restroom was in very poor condition; that could definitely be improved.

08/04/2026: We hadn't booked, but there was room for two. The place is rustic and family-run. The food is very good, but the welcome and service were rather cold, which is a shame in a country where a relaxed lifestyle is a principle.

29/04/2026: On the advice of our tour guide, we visited the self-service restaurant. If you're looking for a good, inexpensive meal near the cathedral, this is the place to go. Set up like a cafeteria, you can choose your own meal, including dessert, from a selection of dishes. Drinks are available in bottles and cans. The service is surprisingly good; despite it being self-service, the tables are cleared and cleaned. The service at the counters is very efficient. It's clean. Admittedly, the ambiance isn't particularly inviting, but the price-performance ratio is excellent. You pay about 30% less than in the immediate vicinity. Everything is a bit cramped. The restaurant was very busy, so be prepared to wait if you need to use the restrooms, as there are a limited number. The name is a bit misleading; it's not exactly gourmet, but the food is certainly tasty.
