Top Gourmet In Como

On the advice of our tour guide, we visited the self-service restaurant. If you're looking for a good, inexpensive meal near the cathedral, this is the place to go. Set up like a cafeteria, you can choose your own meal, including dessert, from a selection of dishes. Drinks are available in bottles and cans. The service is surprisingly good; despite it being self-service, the tables are cleared and cleaned. The service at the counters is very efficient. It's clean. Admittedly, the ambiance isn't particularly inviting, but the price-performance ratio is excellent. You pay about 30% less than in the immediate vicinity. Everything is a bit cramped. The restaurant was very busy, so be prepared to wait if you need to use the restrooms, as there are a limited number. The name is a bit misleading; it's not exactly gourmet, but the food is certainly tasty.

I read the menu outside and went in a bit skeptical, trying to figure out what the catch was. I was pleasantly surprised; I got a generous amount of good-quality penne all'arrabbiata, water, and bread for just €6.80 in the center of Como. The line was short, and the place moves quickly.

For a self-service restaurant, the service is excellent because they take your tray away when you're done. The place is clean and tidy, nothing special to report, perhaps a little small because it's hard to find a seat around 1:00 PM. The food is acceptable, but not very good, because otherwise you'd have to pay around €10-€15 for a plate of pasta in Como. As a canteen, it's more than adequate.

The quality of the dishes is excellent: fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and generous portions. They don't serve you bland cafeteria fare: you can taste the care behind every choice. The self-service restaurant is efficient, well-organized, and offers a variety of options, perfect for a quick but tasty lunch break. The atmosphere is simple, the service is quick, and everything is clean. In short: highly recommended if you want to eat well in the center of Como without breaking the bank. I'll gladly return!
