Perfect for a business lunch, whether you need to chat or it's a proper business breakfast. The traditional dishes are excellent; I tried the gnocchetti with a delicious duck ragù sauce. In short, a place that feels more like a high-end restaurant than a traditional trattoria.

18/02/2026: I visited Afro on Sundays at noon. Entering this restaurant is like taking a dive into the roots of Friuli. Everything here speaks of Friuli: the staff, the dishes served, and the atmosphere. Here, you can taste Coradazzi Prosciutto sliced ​​with a flywheel slicer, a cutting system that enhances the flavor of the prosciutto like no other. You can see the slicer in the main room, all red and shiny, proudly displayed.

12/04/2026: I've been here several times, always for family functions. The food is always excellent, both meat and fish. Last time, however, the service was a bit confusing. At times it was too slow (30 minutes for the first course or the cake to arrive) and at other times too fast (five minutes after the main course arrived, they were already snatching plates away from people who had already finished, while those still eating were trying to hurry up because the waiter was in a hurry).

12/05/2026: After checking reviews and websites, I went to this restaurant with its well-deserved reputation. I spent the afternoon perusing their menu, which looked interesting, and my attention was drawn to the spider crab cicche 😍 So, around 8 pm, I arrived at the restaurant and immediately felt the local atmosphere envelop me. The decor is a mix of support for the local team and engravings and paintings depicting life in Trieste. A charmingly chaotic atmosphere and a barely electronic cash register were winning me over! The server greeted me with a smile and genuine warmth! The decor, the friendly service, and the other customers, all locals, were already whetting my appetite! That's it, I'm here, a local institution, everything I love! The waiter brought me the menu, and before I even had a chance to look at it, he informed me that there was no spider crab cicche that evening… The horror!!! What am I saying? The devastation! Seeing the profound sadness this news had caused me, he had the intelligence and immediate professionalism to offer me the same cicche with zucchini and sea bream. Initially hesitant, I decided to give it a try. I then opted for a fritto misto (mine had squid, sardines, and red mullet—it was excellent! From the photos on the website, I also get the impression that it changes depending on the season and the day's catch ❤️), followed by a presnitz, a local dessert, for dessert! I don't know what to say; I was transported. The cicche (small local gnocchi) completely captivated me, and everything else was just as good! Nothing is off the mark, nothing is deceiving, it's real food. When you eat there, you really eat! So thank you! And I can only recommend that you rush there when you're in Trieste!

03/06/2026: A wonderful experience. When I arrived, it was already packed, but we tried to get in line anyway. A member of staff stood in line asking how many of us there were and told us the estimated time it would take to get a table, which was accurate. The place is beautifully decorated inside, and the restrooms are spotless. The only thing I would recommend is putting more stable tables outside, because having a table that moves while you're cutting the meat isn't ideal. The staff was friendly and quick to serve the dishes, which were delicious (we chose seafood pasta and a cutlet). The service charge is €4, which seems a bit high, but it also includes a plate of rosemary focaccia to start the meal and orange sorbet with limoncello to finish, both of which were very well received. Also, a special touch is that they bring a bowl of gummy bears with the sorbet, which I really appreciated. That said, the value for money is fantastic and I can't wait to go back to try other dishes.

But in this restaurant, there's a wonderful hostess who, with courtesy and attentiveness to her guests, offers advice and guidance on the menu. The fish is incredibly fresh and well-cooked according to tradition, with more than generous portions.
