24/09/2025: I'll start by saying that, having a house in Alassio, I know every place in town very well, including the historic Balzola. Unfortunately, for years now, I've felt the value for money was completely lost. A Spritz + Crodino was €13, and no receipt. This would be fine. Unfortunately, the Spritz on top was the worst I've ever had. In my sad opinion, a place that now remains iconic only for its location.

12/09/2025: Breakfast with cappuccino and a croissant with raspberry jam for €4.50!!! The outside area was not clean and there were no napkins. Cappuccino served in vintage cups, but not the right size for a cappuccino, so basically just foam (€2.50). At the checkout, a "guy" who treats customers in an insolent manner... What a shame! But why is it that the worst product always has a higher price than those who do a good job and charge a fair price?

03/10/2025: Signora Gianna cooks fabulously. We arrived late but were greeted like royalty. The menu is all homemade, all local, by the lovely Gianna (90 years old!!). US Cigolese will definitely be back: if you're passing through, come here. Even if you're not passing through. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back; the specialties she cooks are truly inviting.

05/07/2025: We really enjoyed the food. They were also very friendly. However, we were a little uneasy that there were no customers. That's usually a bad sign. Therefore, we were pleasantly surprised when everything was served quickly and we were quite satisfied. Unfortunately, the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. I think they could do a lot more with less. However, I hope they generally have more customers. 😊

23/06/2025: Non voglio fare una recensione suggestiva ma onesta per cui, a chi legge, vorrei chiedere: quanto pensi di dover pagare due piatti di trofie col pesto, una bottiglia d'acqua, due calici di vino locale e due caffè? Datti una risposta e poi pensa che noi abbiamo pagato 60€. Ora, archiviata la questione economica (che credo giustifichi ampiamente il titolo della recensione), passiamo a quella gastronomica. La pasta era buona. Per essere precisa, come quella che farei a casa ma mettendoci la metà del pesto. Con la sincerità che ha contraddistinto sinora questo feedback, va detto che il servizio è stato celere e cortese. La cameriera (che non so se sia anche la proprietaria) è stata gentilissima, non invadente, ci ha consigliato il vino in modo simpatico e cordiale. Le consiglio di fare un'esame di coscienza e rivedere i prezzi (nel caso in cui fosse la titolare) oppure di aprire un locale suo (nel caso in cui fosse una dipendente) perché ci sa fare! Nonostante ciò, il verdetto è chiaro: locale assolutamente sconsigliato.

06/07/2025: Very rude manager to an elderly lady who simply asked to replace a piece of sardenara with edges with one without edges from a new pan even though she had already paid for it he refused to replace it saying that the rule of his warehouse rather than shop requires to finish the old pan first before starting the new one now so you do not satisfy the wish of a poor elderly lady for this stupidity of yours and not only was she made fun of by saying that she had no more sardenara and as soon as the lady left he ran to the back of his phantom warehouse to get the new pan of sardenara and when she returned to ask to buy another piece he, the great rude and great rude person that he is, said I don't serve you in this shop anymore go away. Now these are the shopkeepers we should help in times of crisis but if he closed the business and went to work as a dishwasher he would be doing a huge favor 🙏 to the community. Aside from the fact that by law no shopkeeper can refuse to serve paying customers, I'm limiting myself to this review to avoid reporting what happened.

06/09/2025: A rather unique campsite, I'd say a bit hippie-esque. Minus points are the train tracks right next to the campsites and the bathrooms, straight out of Harry Potter.

08/08/2025: FIRST OF ALL: You simply can't compare German standards here with those there. This is an older, simple campsite where the focus is on spending the night and occasionally swimming; it wouldn't have been suitable for us for longer stays in a camper/tent. There are a lot of Italians there at the moment, as they also vacation there from the mainland, depending on the season. We stayed here for 3 nights, and I have to praise the campsite. Communication via WhatsApp was problem-free, and the staff was very friendly! There are plenty of trash containers, and electricity and WiFi are available at the bar. We got a tent spot in the front row, right on the beach. The price is relatively normal by German standards. The bar there is fantastic; a very nice gentleman there, and very good coffee no matter when you feel like it. I think it's ideal for spending the night, occasionally jumping into the sea, and walking into town. The main sanitary facilities are old Italian and not in great condition, but you can use the much newer, better sanitary facilities on the property opposite by the mobile homes as this belongs to the campsite, so everything was fine for us as far as that was concerned.

20/09/2025: Delicious focaccia, Recco focaccia, savory pies in various flavors (zucchini, stracchino cheese, etc.), pizza, pretzels, brioches, shortcrust pastry, cookies, tarts... just a 2-minute drive from the fair. Very friendly!

14/09/2025: Rude and impolite staff. 5kg of focaccia €117. Maybe something's wrong.

17/08/2025: Not a very positive experience. I ordered pasta with clams, mussels, and shrimp, and the fish had zero flavor (seeing other reviews, it's happened to other customers as well). The owner was rude and, judging by her attitude, seemed annoyed. The mussels and clams weren't very clean—there was some sand in them—but they were still edible. That evening, looking back at the bill, something didn't add up. In fact, when I calculated the amount we'd consumed, the total was wrong... she'd overcharged us! A place with untapped potential and a friendly atmosphere that needs revisiting.

29/10/2025: Nothing to say! The chicken is delicious, the food is great, but above all, the staff and service are amazing! All the girls at Pollo Alegre are kind, friendly, and above all, incredibly nice! I highly recommend you go there. Kudos to Claudia and Marika, the two blondes at Pollo Alegre (who are incredibly nice, I hope you go there when they're on duty! 😂).

28/10/2025: After forgetting my order, with trays ready with chips and coke outside, they prepare our order with the chicken still raw, the sandwich I got wasn't that great, but the main problem was forgetting my order

07/09/2025: Cozy café with a sea view. The breakfast was delicious, and the croissant selection was more than adequate.

03/09/2025: Even though there were no customers, I wasn't served for more than 10 minutes, even though the waiter saw me and gave me a quick hello. So I left.

31/10/2025: Friendly and with better service than other places in the same city. They have table service and video games for children.

09/08/2025: There are very few outlets for charging your phone in the MS, only 4 for the entire large hall. There is no wireless charging on the pages. Sometimes this makes it impossible to recharge a little. Another thing is the toilet. There is a code on the purchase receipt that you need to use to enter the toilet, but this code does not work. For example, if you ordered food and need to go wash your hands, it is simply impossible to do this. You have to stand in line at the cashier to open the door to the toilet. Then if another person with you wants to wash their hands, you have to stand in line at the cashier again to open the door. Please - make basic things accessible to people - washing hands before eating. You can install sinks in the hall, or introduce another system for people to get to the toilet. I hope the administration will hear this. Thank you.

11/10/2025: Ordered takeout, the pizza was burned in many places, and within an hour of eating it, I began experiencing abdominal pain and severe bloating, which isn't something I normally experience since I'm not intolerant to gluten or other known ingredients. For these reasons, I strongly advise against this pizzeria.

29/09/2025: We've been going to this pizzeria for years, and it never loses its charm! Everything is perfect.

17/10/2025: Rafiq, the manager, is exceptionally friendly and helpful. There are pitches of various sizes. He'll find one that suits you perfectly, ensuring you can comfortably extend your awning. You'll be pitched among the houses of permanent residents, who are only there during peak season and occasionally on weekends. The sanitary facilities are excellent. The campsite is within walking/cycling distance of Imperia, a pleasant, lively Italian city. The sea and beach are within walking distance. A beautiful cycle path along the coast to San Remo, approximately 25 km (on a former railway line).

17/10/2025: A good campsite with both pros and cons. Close to the beach, but also close to the road. Restrooms are new, but the showers are expensive. Pitches are okay, but not particularly spacious. Water for campers costs money. Electricity costs €5 per day. I would stay at the campsite again, though, as I like Imperia and the surrounding area. An absolute highlight is the cycle path to San Remo. It's a former railway line that has been completely converted into a two-lane cycle path. There are many tunnels through which you can go. A must-do experience.
