01/05/2026: Good cannoli and prices are okay. The staff were incredibly patient and friendly with my daughter—they let her choose exactly the cannolo she felt like having. I don’t quite understand why this place has such low ratings on Google Maps. The dolci looks there incredible :) It was open till the late hour, despite the fact that the weather was bad and there weren't too many tourists outside.

10/04/2026: I went to this place for lunch, and I have to say I wasn't very satisfied the first time. But when I was passing by with friends, they wanted to stop even though I said I hadn't had a good time. We decided to stop anyway, and I have to say it was an excellent choice! We were greeted by a young woman with a mesmerizing smile. She was truly beautiful, very friendly, kind, and above all, very attentive. She was at our table if we needed anything. We even joked with her, and I have to say she was very nice, but above all, very elegant, even carrying the tray. It was truly amazing! We ordered Sicilian bruschetta, a mixed platter, and what can I say? It was spectacular. Our palates exploded with pleasure. In all of Taormina, I've never eaten such wonderful bruschetta. Not to mention the spectacular parmigiana. My compliments to the kitchen staff. And I commend the owners for having such a cheerful and kind waitress. We'll definitely be back! 😍 We'll recommend it to everyone.

19/04/2026: A quick reflection: I've been frequenting Taormina since I was 14, when, penniless and a little envious, I would spy on the "grown-ups" sitting at the Mokambo café, which wasn't your average bar but a mandatory stop, not for everyone, to start the evening. Playboys and dandies would set the already sultry summer evenings ablaze with their presence, smiles laced with seduction on tanned faces and white suits with unbuttoned shirts. The evenings continued at the "Giara" of the great Cico Scimone and then the Manuli brothers. I watched them—Turi Pollicina, Mimmo Cassaniti, Vito Costa, Carlo Spina, to name a few—and I waited until I grew up to be able to match or surpass them. Love, betrayal, and unscrupulousness passed over those tables, and little by little I managed to secure a table that was always reserved in that whirlwind of emotions called Mokambo. Together with lifelong friends Giovanni Costa, Seby di Giovanni, Alfredo Minissale, Ugo Pollicina, and Guido Costa, we spent decades doing what was natural to us: experiencing the nightlife in all its strangest facets, to the fullest and without limits. Years later, now married and "with my head in the clear," as they say, I found myself in Taormina last Saturday evening with my wife, and after dinner at "cu ti lu dissi," an excellent restaurant in Porta Catania owned by friends Fabio and Francesco, we decided to have a drink at Mokambo. We walked along the Corso, with many shops closed due to the late hour (9:10 PM), and to our great surprise, we found Mokambo CLOSED. Asking around, we were told that closing time was 9:00 PM. 9:00 PM. 9:00 PM. How sad. One of the historic symbols of Taormina's nightlife closed at 9:00 PM. But does the new ownership (Dolce & Gabbana) know that nightlife in Taormina starts after 9 PM? Shame on them!!! The time for weirdness is certainly over for us, but I believe an era that saw us as the protagonists of the last episode is over!!!

25/09/2025: A true gem in the lower part of the village, just a few meters from the sea and the pebble beach. The food is a delight for the taste buds; you'll never want to leave the table. All the freshest local fish is served with kindness by the owner Aldo's sons, who are also extremely hospitable and knowledgeable in explaining the dishes. The wine list is varied, featuring Sicilian products to suit all budgets. If you're near the village, stop here for an experience you won't soon forget.

13/09/2025: On the recommendation of a local, we opted for this restaurant... a beautiful, simply furnished room that adds warmth to the atmosphere, and a small outdoor terrace. Friendly and helpful service... Tagliatelle with cherry tomatoes, shrimp, and eggplant (very delicate), a good seafood appetizer, and a grilled dish (delicious sea bass), shrimp, swordfish roll, and grilled vegetables... We were very satisfied!

23/05/2026: A typical trattoria with traditional dishes and excellent seafood. The typical Sicilian drinks (mandarin, orange, pomegranate, etc.) are delicious. Good seafood: two appetizers, grilled octopus, and mixed grill.

18/05/2026: We ate at this trattoria and were truly enchanted. The dishes were fresh and traditional, the restaurant was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. 02/01/2026: The place advertised itself as dog-friendly. But I had a bad experience with my dog, who's bigger than a lapdog. Nowhere else has my dog ​​been a problem. Here, several waiters and the owner made rude comments and asked us to leave. And they did it in a way that I think could have been done much more politely. The staff is and always will be unfriendly.

02/01/2026: The owner and staff were extremely unfriendly and unenthusiastic. I've never experienced such bad service anywhere in Sicily. The espresso was mediocre at best and overpriced for the quality. The atmosphere was very loud and uncomfortable. I will definitely not be going back here.

10/05/2026: Good pizzas, fast and very friendly service. Popular with locals. We ate inside, it was quite noisy.

07/05/2026: Delicious food, good range of gluten free options available too. I had marinara mussels followed by spaghetti al spangled, both of which were delicious and GF. Husband's caponata was fabulous (also available GF without the bread), he then had stuffed red squid. Both very happy diners, best meal of our week stay so far (day 4). Highly recommend.

12/06/2026: Natale did his utmost to accomdate 6 of us as it began to rain and we choose an outside table, which made for a memorable evening. The team at Al Gabbiano are outstanding could not fault it!

10/06/2026: You're not going to find another place on the sea front strip that locals actually go to. Locals go here. The prices are really good. And the deserts are all home made. Yes, they will find you a table past 11pm..

01/01/2026: I went with my family to celebrate my birthday. I'd been there years ago when it was a pizzeria under the old management. We were satisfied; the food was very good. Excellent service, nice and welcoming place.

25/10/2025: A decent mussel soup and a sadly overcooked seafood risotto can happen, but poor service can't be ignored. • Point one: the waitress's obnoxious insistence on telling us what she was saying, pretending not to understand our requests. • Point two: the wine-by-the-glass scam, with a terrible, sour white wine that we had changed and which she then immediately passed on to the table behind us. The response was, quote: "If you ask me for wine by the glass, this is quality!" An unspeakable response, especially since any restaurant offers a choice of at least two whites and two reds. • Point three: the mockery about the mussels, quote: "They're small these days, but frankly, they're the ones I like best," and a few minutes later, at the same table behind us, quote: "Mussels are small these days, but I don't eat them anyway, neither large nor small." Frankly, we've never encountered such a bizarre place. And then when the owner, perhaps unaware, said goodbye to us by saying "See you next time," and we replied, "Frankly, next time won't be here," she remained speechless, not even trying to understand what had happened, not just to try to improve herself, but not even out of politeness. Speechless.
