25/02/2026: Great location, excellent food.

11/02/2026: The desserts are good, the coffee is also good, but the hot chocolate is deep fake and it's just plain pudding.

13/02/2026: Good, nice, and cheap. The beef was tender and flavorful, grilled to perfection. The side vegetables and fries were delicious. The pasta alla Norma and the gnocchi with béchamel sauce and sausages were perfectly cooked. The waitresses were very friendly. The price was more than reasonable. We'll be back.

10/02/2026: Had an occasional business lunch during a trip to Sicily. The food was excellent, simple but very well prepared and tasty. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and definitely informal. It's worth a try.

25/12/2025: I received a Black and White cake from this pastry shop as a gift. The packaging was oddly glued together with staples, but nothing unusual. The surprise was inside, as the cake arrived without even a serving plate and was thrown haphazardly into the box without the slightest care. At least a stand could have been included.

10/03/2026: The pizza was delicious, but the next day I got gnocchi that didn't impress.

09/03/2026: Well. Every pizza was average at best. The sauce was too acidic, and according to my wife, some of the salami pieces were "borderline." The service varied—the gentleman was quite okay, the lady was uninvolved. The red wine was excellent: Nero D'Avola. A bit underwhelming. Especially since the street food at the local market is very tasty! Interestingly, we saw that the locals got better pizza. Better baked and with more toppings. Either all foreigners have it worse here, or only some. So I don't really recommend it.

19/02/2026: My wife had a very delicious lunch of pasta and involtini. The owner was very gracious. The restaurant is in the center of the town. Castroreale is a beautiful place located high on a mountain with views to the sea and the Aeolian Islands. So a good place for good food and a walk around town to take in the views.

07/03/2026: The staff were friendly, and the small balcony where we ate lunch overlooked the sea. The food was nothing special: the appetizers were poor and full of oil, and the spaghetti with sea urchins were mediocre, with too much oil and too much garlic. The quality of the food doesn't justify the prices. For this reason, I wouldn't return and I wouldn't recommend it. Friendly staff.

28/02/2026: Peace that tastes like seafood! The tables are on the first floor, and it should be wheelchair accessible because the fire door opens onto the street on the other side of the building. I went with a friend and we had mussel soup, (I) spaghetti with squid ink, pasta with sea urchins, and finally, fried squid rings for the main course. Everything, absolutely everything, was tasty and delicious. The portions were just right; we were already full after the soup, but the spaghetti was just right. The fried fish to finish was perfect. I'm more than satisfied with the place and recommend it!

15/01/2026: Excellent experience: well-prepared and plentiful dishes, courteous staff. The manager was a thoughtful host. Unfortunately, parking is a bit difficult. I recommend it.

07/12/2025: PortoMatto in Avola was a delightful discovery. I ordered a first course, a truly delicious risotto: well-creamed, flavorful, but never heavy. The restaurant is elegant, with attention to detail, and the background music is not too loud and very pleasant, allowing for a peaceful conversation. Special praise goes to the table service: professional, attentive, but never intrusive. I'd especially like to highlight the kindness and empathy of the waiter, Giovanni, who really worked hard to find a solution for my wife's particularly restricted diet, trying to accommodate her in every way possible. In the end, she didn't order anything, but his face showed genuine disappointment, a sign of genuine care for the customer. Overall, a very positive experience: highly recommended.

06/01/2026: Tasteless porcini tagliatelle, almost entirely left out. I mentioned that I didn't like them, but my complaint was ignored. The lady at the cashier was unpleasant, staring at us. The €72 bill was paid in full, without any attention. Disappointing.

09/10/2025: I discovered this pastry shop about eight years ago, thanks to my daughter's work. The place is small, but the food inside is exceptional. I've never had the cassata with that fine ricotta anywhere else, nor the dried fruit baskets. It's a shame that many items can't be shipped, and time flies.

03/11/2025: A family-run workshop that produces biscuits, cannoli, and cannelloni. I especially enjoyed the latter, which were very soft and perfectly fried.

01/11/2025: Fantastic cannoli. We’ve come here 4 days in a row for breakfast cannoli or Catorccini (ricotta donuts). Almond biscuits are also great. They weigh and add up everything correctly, and very friendly to tourists.
