We have cycled to, and dined for lunch at Da Gigi twice over the past few weeks...and the food is absolutely incredible. The deer is so tender I just didn't want it to end - served with sections of pear in a light sauce. See pics.
Antonella treated us VERY well and told us the story of her family's ownership of the restaurant. We HIGHLY recommend Da Gigi and will return many times.

02/12/2025: I went for the first time for a business lunch. I was really impressed by the staff's hospitality. The place is modern, clean, and a bit private. The dishes were really good, high-quality, and well-presented. The business menu costs €20 and you can choose between two first courses and two second courses with side dishes. The quality/price ratio is excellent. I've already been back three times, and everything is always perfect. Also recommended for dinner. The waiters, I think Marco and Matteo, and the lady in the dining room are very kind.

I was in Mandello for a visit to relatives, looking for somewhere to have lunch, and without a reservation (Sunday lunchtime), they sat me at a comfortable table near the counter. The dishes are few, but truly well-made, featuring local flavors (Minsoltini, Persico, Lavarello, etc.), but with a contemporary twist. The portions are fairly generous, the wine list is decent (it's an Osteria, after all), and the service is fast and always smiling, despite the restaurant being full. My compliments!

11/11/2025: I attended a wedding about a fortnight ago, and the autumnal atmosphere gives this place a magical feel. Everything was meticulously curated, the service excellent, the food delicious, and they pay close attention to allergens. Highly recommended for any event.

The atmosphere, the quality of the food, the welcoming staff, and the refined flavors combine to make Il Portico an unforgettable culinary experience, difficult to explain in words, but truly worth discovering and savoring!

Every time I return, I'm pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the dishes offered, the quality of the food served, and the care with which Chef Dario, his family, and the staff truly welcome and pamper each customer!
The interior and exterior spaces are also frequently remodeled and decorated, reflecting the seasons, creating an atmosphere of well-being that certainly goes far beyond mere refreshment!

10/10/2025: Great restaurant that clearly takes pride in their food. Lovely retro vibe inside. Service old fashioned which I liked. Food was tasty and plentiful. Homemade pasta lovely and fresh, beef carpaccio and salmon tartare were excellent, pork with porcini to die for. Dessert were especially good and lovingly prepared. Wines we tried were superb. Hosts were clearly enjoying hosting which is always a plus. Best in Lierna and not just because of food which is amazing but the whole experience. I went away happy and smiling twice. Grazie mille

06/12/2025: Everything is excellent at this restaurant, the food is exquisite and the waiters are very attentive. I'm lowering it to 3 stars because charging €5 for a soft drink seems excessive, an exaggeration.
30/11/2025: We had lunch yesterday and the food was absolutely amazing. The dish of the day was black pasta with prawns. The starter mixed cheese and charcuterie was very good too not to mention the the panacotta desert! Thks for the experience. Highly recommended.

20/11/2025: Stopped by by chance for work. The food is very good. Homemade and made with dedication. The service was excellent. Friendly, courteous, and well-made. I didn't eat the pizza, but I saw them coming out. It looked very inviting, but I'll make it a point of reference for future occasions.

02/10/2025: After a two-hour climb, you either pass it and don't know what you're missing, or you stop and then... Then you just have to admire the landscape and head back down.
Pizzoccheri, braised beef, porcini mushroom stew, and boiled meat with polenta. Cheeses, sweets, and bitters. What more can I say? It's a must-try.
21/09/2025: I came here to eat with a group of friends. The food was delicious, varied, and plentiful. The service was excellent and the prices were very fair.
Highly recommended.
