15/10/2025: What a stroke of luck! We stumbled upon "Il Malombra" quite by chance – a beautifully situated restaurant high above Lake Lugano, with stunning views of the mountains and a special, warm atmosphere. We were there as a family – my wife, our 6-year-old daughter (currently a very picky eater), and our 8-month-old baby. Upon arrival, we received an incredibly friendly welcome; everything seemed relaxed, personal, and genuine. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, cozy, and unpretentious – simply authentic and run with love. The food was simply fantastic: I had a venison ragout with tagliatelle, my wife had homemade chestnut ravioli with pumpkin cream and local truffle – both dishes were absolutely delicious. Our daughter initially only wanted spaghetti on its own, but then tried my ragout – and liked it so much that she immediately got her own portion and devoured it all. That says it all! Absolutely great value for money, absolutely outstanding quality. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day—right before our departure. So if you're in the Valsolda area, go and enjoy!

14/10/2025: We ate at Mario's twice during our five days on Lake Lugano, and both times it was simply fantastic: delicious, authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Thank you for your hospitality, Mario. We'll be back!

09/10/2025: Fantastic pizza. Both gluten-free and regular. I've eaten hundreds of them in different parts of Italy, and this and another are the absolute best pizzas I've ever had. Sincere compliments, masters of the dough. I'll be enjoying more tonight.

05/10/2025: Unfortunately, these days, the customer has to pay all the costs of catering. If you want to make a living while maintaining high quality, as is the case here, you have to accept these prices. Fantastic place and excellent, young, and polite staff.

11/10/2025: Beautiful place, friendly and fast service. Excellent food quality. Even though there wasn't a children's menu, they greeted us with a huge plate of chicken fillet and excellent potatoes. Plus, we booked at the last minute and they still reserved a table for us. We'll definitely be back.

06/10/2025: Had a good dining experience at this Italian restaurant with a stunning view of Lake Como. I ordered the shrimp risotto — it was absolutely delicious! The service was excellent, with the staff led by the friendly and attentive restaurant manager, Thomas. He even gave us great tips on taking the ferry and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the warm hospitality.

04/10/2025: A nice place where you can buy bread/focaccia and also have lunch. There's a self-service option where you can choose from a variety of hot and cold dishes and salads. The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is a bit dated, but suitable for a lunch break.

27/07/2025: On our first day we ended up here a bit by chance – and instantly fell in love with this place! ❤️ The carbonara and calamari were absolutely delicious, and the chef not only cooks wonderfully but is also incredibly friendly – he helped us choose our dishes and we couldn’t have been happier with the choice. On the second day we came back on purpose – this time the chicken was amazing, and the chocolate soufflé was simply pure heaven! A huge plus goes to the service – both the chef and the super friendly Italian lady create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You feel more like you’re visiting friends than dining in a restaurant. Delicious food, wonderful people and a fantastic vibe – we absolutely recommend this place! 04/10/2025: We only had a drink on the terrace. The welcome was very warm and we were pleasantly surprised to have several small snacks with our drinks. It's a change from the two or three chips that are usually offered.

14/09/2025: The food might not be the worst, but considering everything else, I wouldn't recommend it. You can't eat in peace, either because of the rather pushy beggars or men selling beads and other trinkets wandering between the tables, to which the staff completely ignores. The restrooms are disgusting. And all this is in contrast to the not-so-low prices and the cost. You can definitely find something much better in Como.
