17/03/2026: Lunch with my mother (in her eighties). Typical trattoria fare, simple but delicious dishes, and generous portions. The fixed-price menu, €14, includes a first course, a second course, 1/2 water, 1/4 wine, and coffee. My mother only ate the first course, and I asked if it was possible to have the second course in a take-out container. Finally, we ordered a long, decaf coffee. At the cash register, the woman (I assume the owner) presented us with a bill of €32. When I asked for clarification, she responded hastily, annoyed, and in a decidedly unfriendly tone, a tone she'd already used during table service, stating that €1 was for the take-out container (no comment!) and €3 more for the two coffees, since the fixed-price menu only included espresso. In short, at home, everyone applies their own policy, but it doesn't seem right to me at all that they charged us for four coffees when we actually drank two (we should have paid the difference, if anything). I'm not going to argue with the cashier out of consideration for my mother, but... first and last time at this restaurant, also because the owner, with her nasty manners, has demonstrated she has no interest in acquiring new customers. March 17, 2026, neither when we asked for the second course to be placed in a take-out container nor when we asked for a coffee other than an espresso, were we fully informed of the additional charge. At the cashier, I didn't raise any fuss, just asked for an explanation and then let it go. Because, I repeat, at home, everyone makes their own rules (although in a business like yours, it would always be good practice to inform the customer), and out of consideration for my mother. That said, even the tone of his response to my review, based on the assumption that I somehow didn't state the facts truthfully, only confirms my opinion: "first and last time." Have a good day and good work.

16/03/2026: A typical family-run trattoria near Como, with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and super friendly and approachable staff. Not to mention the food, which is excellent value for money, whether you're visiting for lunch or on a day trip out of town. The marinated chicken was delicious, super tender and flavorful!!! Enjoy your stay :)

The quality of the dishes is excellent: fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and generous portions. They don't serve you bland cafeteria fare: you can taste the care behind every choice. The self-service restaurant is efficient, well-organized, and offers a variety of options, perfect for a quick but tasty lunch break. The atmosphere is simple, the service is quick, and everything is clean. In short: highly recommended if you want to eat well in the center of Como without breaking the bank. I'll gladly return!

14/06/2025: Vinimos al Bellavista para cenar en nuestra primera noche en Brunate por recomendación de nuestros anfitriones AirBnB, y tuvimos una noche perfecta. El Bellavista es un encantador edificio histórico situado en la parte superior del funicular Brunate, con una vista espectacular desde el restaurante sobre el lago y el valle de abajo. Puede sentarse a su mesa dentro del restaurante junto a las ventanas abiertas mirando hacia fuera mientras come platos locales realmente encantadores - ravioles de percha, lasaña de jabalí, quesos locales y panna cotta y merengues para terminar. Si hubiéramos tenido más tiempo, habríamos venido aquí una segunda vez.

13/06/2025: Disfrutamos de un excelente almuerzo con una hermosa vista del lago de Como. Afortunadamente pudieron llevarnos como un paseo, pero una reserva sería prudente para garantizar una mesa con vistas. La comida y el servicio eran excelentes, y los precios eran muy razonables. Una gran opción para el almuerzo o la cena en Como!

08/03/2026: What a wonderful surprise! We discovered this restaurant quite by chance and we loved it. The traditional dishes are delicious, very well prepared, and at very reasonable prices. Admittedly, you have to walk through a small section of forest to get there, but that's part of the charm of the place. The experience is absolutely worth it! If you want to try authentic and flavorful local dishes, this is a place that's definitely worth the detour.

31/01/2026: Always a pleasure to taste the good dishes prepared by Daniela, lots of variety, lots of vegetables, always something new and more.... delicious last dessert tasted chestnuts and chocolate... in a quiet place out of time... you can only get there on foot after a beautiful walk through woods, streams and a splendid view of the lake.

25/01/2026: Good morning, I'd like to start by saying that I booked lunch a few days in advance to make sure the place was warm enough, as one of the guests, who is over ninety, is extremely sensitive to the cold. I was reassured that a suitable table was available for this request. Well, this is how the work of the kitchen staff (truly delicious) and the waiting staff (attentive and attentive) was undermined. When we arrived, the table assigned to us was cold and without any alternatives. The entire place was simply cold, with no heating. My experience and subsequent review are with the management.

09/01/2026: I went to eat to test the quality for the wedding, and what can I say? Everything was perfect, from the excellent, melt-in-your-mouth food to the simple yet well-organized and attentive service. The place is wonderful, and the owners are fantastic. The prices are fair, in my opinion, especially considering the quantity and quality. In short, we ate well, and a lot. If you're in the area and want to eat well, I recommend coming to Croce di Malta.
