We happened upon this bistro and were delighted with everything, from the kindness of the staff to the quality of the food. We highly recommend it if you're passing through Alatri, and you should definitely stop here in addition to visiting the town.

30/04/2026: I had an absolutely unforgettable experience here. The food was simply outstanding — without a doubt the best pasta I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. And the mille foglie (mille-feuille) was beyond incredible, easily the best I’ve tasted. The service matched the quality of the food: attentive, warm and genuinely welcoming. Overall, everything — the food, the service and the atmosphere — was amazing. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

23/07/2026: Truly exquisite little place, we came back the next evening because we had such a great time! The pizzas were delicious, the fish was excellent, and the wine was excellent!! The staff were very friendly, and Alessandro, the owner, was also delightful. I highly recommend spending an evening here!

16/08/2026: After the positive experience of Ferragosto 2025, I returned to this restaurant for Ferragosto 2026, and it was a NIGHTMARE. Ambience 1. They created more seats than the restaurant could hold, and this affected the heat (the air conditioning couldn't be felt due to the number of people), the livability of the place (it was difficult to go to the bathroom because we had to slalom between the tables), and the service. Service 1. It's a shame because many of the guests were young, but except for the three women in the dining room, everything else, including the owner, was disgraceful. Dishes were forgotten (my main course arrived 30 minutes later than those of the other people at my table, and I had to point it out seven times), diners who didn't eat together because the dishes arrived "in installments," waiters who took orders and then forgot them. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one to experience these problems; the tables around me also complained. Food 1. The most painful aspect. The food was of poor quality and was cooked hastily to try to accommodate the many customers booked. The rice arrived undercooked. Fettuccine with porcini mushrooms arrived watered down because it was evidently not creamed to "hurry up" the service. The tagliata was made with a piece of boiled meat and was therefore stringy and inedible. The baba wasn't really a baba, but a ring-shaped cake topped with a cheap liqueur. Not to mention the exorbitant prices (but I'm willing to accept that, considering it's mid-August) and the paltry portions (bringing 50g of seafood salad and charging €18 for it is unacceptable). Unfortunately, I won't return to this place because I have to stay away from those who prefer to over-fill the restaurant just to make a profit: when you can't serve 200 people, it would be fairer and more respectful to accept 100 and treat them with higher quality. I hope my negative experience helps others avoid a nightmare.

12/07/2026: This is my first time here too! Delicious! The pizza is Roman-style, shallow and scroccante, with many variations. Prices aren't excessive. The supplì are good, not mass-produced, but artisanal with their own specialties. They offer spicy red beans, but not too spicy. They're good, but overcooked: too soft! We'll be back!

16/05/2026: I was staying at a nearby hotel, after a quick Google it decided to try Al Cantuccio. I arrived and kindly asked if those awesome ladies spoke english, cause I’m don’t speak Italian, they told me that we would come to an understanding (first sign of local authenticity). All the patrons present were italian, i was the only tourist, second sign. After a mix of portuguese/italian and sign language I had a 5 Star meal and 5 Star hostesses (thank you Ladies for taking so much good care of this portuguese guy). Great cacio pepe, prosecco and rosso wine. Great decoration and ambiance of the restaurant. Truly local and authentic.

14/05/2026: You don't just go to Cantuccio to dine, but to enjoy a unique experience, each time, thanks to the expert, tasty, and creative cuisine, the refined and detailed atmosphere, and, for her, unique, refined, and welcoming…Carla. As soon as you step through the gate, you immediately feel like you've entered a magical place, far from the chaotic city life. Carla's welcome is warm, the class of a woman of substance who welcomes you into her home, a pampering experience that is delicious, beautiful, and kind for every guest at Cantuccio. The cuisine is poetry; every dish, from appetizer to dessert, arrives at the table with care, attention to detail, and refinement. It's important to mention the deliciousness of traditional dishes like ravioli and roast beef, and the variety of desserts (the Porcata is a true delight), but the richness of Carla's menu offers a delight for every palate, even in every season. P.S. Reading the reviews, one in particular by Ms. Camilla, I feel compelled to point out the inaccuracy and, perhaps, excessive unfairness in judging one's experience at Cantuccio. I'm writing this because, sitting at the back table, I personally witnessed the preferential treatment reserved for a less-than-satisfied customer. Immediately afterward, out of curiosity, I tasted what was left (practically very little) of the dish she described as "sour"... but it definitely wasn't!
