I was staying at a nearby hotel, after a quick Google it decided to try Al Cantuccio. I arrived and kindly asked if those awesome ladies spoke english, cause I’m don’t speak Italian, they told me that we would come to an understanding (first sign of local authenticity). All the patrons present were italian, i was the only tourist, second sign. After a mix of portuguese/italian and sign language I had a 5 Star meal and 5 Star hostesses (thank you Ladies for taking so much good care of this portuguese guy). Great cacio pepe, prosecco and rosso wine.
Great decoration and ambiance of the restaurant.
Truly local and authentic.

You don't just go to Cantuccio to dine, but to enjoy a unique experience, each time, thanks to the expert, tasty, and creative cuisine, the refined and detailed atmosphere, and, for her, unique, refined, and welcoming…Carla.
As soon as you step through the gate, you immediately feel like you've entered a magical place, far from the chaotic city life.
Carla's welcome is warm, the class of a woman of substance who welcomes you into her home, a pampering experience that is delicious, beautiful, and kind for every guest at Cantuccio.
The cuisine is poetry; every dish, from appetizer to dessert, arrives at the table with care, attention to detail, and refinement.
It's important to mention the deliciousness of traditional dishes like ravioli and roast beef, and the variety of desserts (the Porcata is a true delight), but the richness of Carla's menu offers a delight for every palate, even in every season.
P.S. Reading the reviews, one in particular by Ms. Camilla, I feel compelled to point out the inaccuracy and, perhaps, excessive unfairness in judging one's experience at Cantuccio. I'm writing this because, sitting at the back table, I personally witnessed the preferential treatment reserved for a less-than-satisfied customer. Immediately afterward, out of curiosity, I tasted what was left (practically very little) of the dish she described as "sour"... but it definitely wasn't!

(21 years after the first time)
At Cantuccio, eating is a pleasant side effect of an experience so unique and complex that it's hard to describe in words.
You descend a staircase and, a bit like in the movie "The Wizard of Oz," you wake up in a magical, colorful world, meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail, incredibly simple and elegant, a rainbow of warm hues where you immediately feel at home. Carla can't be defined in any way, so you have to be content knowing that she, Carla, will be there to welcome you and that she will transform the evening from "dinner" to "magic."
The advice I can give to those lucky enough to have chosen to spend their evening at Cantuccio is to let yourself be guided, not to think about the dynamics of the restaurant, the menu, or the courses. Let Carla advise you, and you won't regret it.

I'll start by saying that all the dishes were excellent and made with top-quality ingredients. But reviewing this place and simply saying that the food here is good (and REALLY good) is an understatement. Dining here is like visiting a friend's house. The refined atmosphere, the discreet service, and above all, Carla's presence, whose vivacity makes her seem like a longtime friend, make it a truly unique experience. Even the bill is fully justified and in line with the service provided. You leave already thinking about your next visit.

There is nothing like this place to compare.
It feels like my mom became a chef and opened a restaurant and now she is hosting the family.
We felt welcome from the 1st second, the aperitif, appetizers, main course and dessert were great!

We returned to Carla's after five years, and fortunately, little has changed: when you step inside, you're gripped by a delightful spell, so much so that, for the duration of a lunch or dinner, you become—and return—all part of one family, at one large table, where you can exchange flavors and sensations, joke, and toast. All, or almost all, is thanks to the hostess who, with art and mysterious wisdom, like a director, stages this play, which is repeated with ever-changing but always successful actors, against the backdrop of a place to be admired piece by piece. We've rediscovered "home-style" cuisine, pleasant, sincere, and well-prepared. May this spell, Carla, never be broken, despite everything. See you soon.

My mom and I, from Athens, Greece, went to Al Cantuccio on March 18th, and it was a truly special experience.
Carla, the owner, is a wonderful woman: she made us feel at home from the first moment, with rare kindness and attention.
The food is delicious, but what makes this place unique is the hospitality. The restaurant's atmosphere was truly magical, something that stays in your heart.
We were pampered from start to finish.
Thank you, Carla, for making our evening unforgettable ❤️
We truly hope to see you again soon, always in our hearts.
Hugs :)

Al Cantuccio is a restaurant that stands out for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a refined yet unpretentious approach, perfect for a relaxed dinner.
The cuisine is well-prepared, with careful attention to the quality of the ingredients. The preparations are balanced and enjoyable, with distinct and well-defined flavors. Some dishes, such as the tortelloni, are particularly successful.
The setting is also very pleasant, especially in the warmer months, where the experience is further enriched.
The service is friendly and attentive, helping to make the evening flow smoothly and pleasant.

I'd never been there, but my parents had been there several times, a long time ago; before I was born. Now they live in another region, so they haven't had the chance. So it was my first time. There were six of us. We all had a great time. The owner, a true Roman, very friendly, cordial, polite, and intelligent, explained the menu to us. We started with some very original and unique appetizers. All very good. There were several courses. Then we each had a first course. Definitely good. The place is meticulously designed down to the last detail. It's one of a kind, with decor impossible to copy or imitate. There's also a room, the grotto, ideal for more privacy. I didn't get a good look because there was a very young couple there, and I didn't want to disturb them. When I return to Rome, I'll definitely go there again. Oh, and there's not even a sign outside. And in the nice weather, you can eat in the garden. I recommend it.
