The family atmosphere, yet original offerings, traditional dishes, and excellent house wine, created a wonderful atmosphere to share with friends or family. I gave it 5 stars simply because it's the best I can give!

13/08/2025: We found this very authentic local restaurant. One page menu, specialized in sea food. It’s one of those small places that puts their heart and soul into the restaurant. They had a special local mussel (mussoli) on the menu, which was slightly more chewy than black mussels but it was such a fun experience to taste something new. I hate touristy places and I am always looking for the unique & authentic gastronomic experiences. This definitely hit the spot! I had the sea bass for main course which was delicious and perfectly cooked. The gnocchi was incredible, I would say one of the best home made gnocchi I ever tasted. The dessert was quite small but beautiful balance of flavors. To top it off, they sold house wine. We tried the sparkling white wine which was delicious and only added to the great experience. Would 100% recommend it if you like seafood!

01/08/2025: A vegetarian writes a review of a fish restaurant: When booking the previous evening, when I asked for a vegetarian dish (my companion was keen to eat there because they had brodetto on the menu), they told me there were none (not even fries), but promised to have them the following evening. Their promise was more than kept: They had bought a tub of porcini mushrooms and made a wonderful salad of raw porcini mushrooms, Sedano, and Parmesan cheese, served with fried potato slices. My companion was equally delighted with his grilled scallops and the Zuppa di Pesce, which was a real fish soup. Such good food and perfect service (even though there were only two of them) made for a very enjoyable evening.

20/08/2025: The best gelato shop in Trieste by far (and I'd say not just in Trieste, but among most gelato shops). Delicious, top-quality artisanal gelato; you can taste the freshest ingredients. I recommend the Pistachio (the best I've ever had) and Pulcinella flavors! It's a shame there aren't enough tables or space to fully enjoy every single product they offer, including frappes, milkshakes, granitas, and popsicles.

Informal atmosphere Fresh fish Top-notch hospitality and service Discovered by chance a couple of years ago, and now as soon as we can, we return to delight in the cuisine of this little place. Recommend booking well in advance, as seating is limited. The antipasti platter is a must-try 😋 Oh, I forgot... for the quality and quantity of the fish offered, the value for money is unmatched. Try it and believe it! You won't regret it! See you next time 🫶🏻

19/08/2025: Very nice pizzeria with a wood-fired oven, modern and cozy interior. Unassuming from the outside, and unfortunately, no outdoor seating (but that's not always possible in a big city). Centrally located near the castle. We found the pizza very good and felt completely at home. We'd gladly return if we ever come back to Trieste.

05/08/2025: Nice, family-friendly place and fantastic pizza, which you can also order with alternative flours! And it's DELICIOUS!!! :)

07/09/2025: Great restaurant! We were afraid of falling into a tourist trap (being French), but the pasta is delicious—real pasta carbonara—and it's not too expensive. 4 stars, not 5 because we were a little disappointed with the tiramisu (foam not frothy/light enough, coffee quite bitter), but the biscuits were well soaked. Don't hesitate!

29/08/2025: Been there twice Pizza and salad were very good the second time 💯 Pasta was rather average 😌 A place for antipasti or pizza, we think :) Average prices but very good quality 👍🏼

23/08/2025: We're not regulars at this type of place. We can't make comparisons. We can only say that we had a good time. It was a beautiful, not-too-hot day, and sitting outside on the pergola, savoring their products and sipping wine, was truly enjoyable. Well done!

03/09/2025: I'm giving it 4 stars only perhaps because the service isn't very dynamic, but it's partly our fault, as we're used to everything being served right away. We asked the reception at the bed and breakfast for a place where locals go to eat; they recommended this trattoria, and we were largely satisfied. We're both not particularly fit for health reasons, so we ordered grilled sea bass, well-cooked and deboned, along with a side dish, water, and dessert. Highly recommend.

20/08/2025: Buffet L'Approdo is an ideal stop for those who want to enjoy authentic Trieste cuisine. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, and the staff is friendly. The typical dishes, such as sardines, goulash, creamed cod, and warm cooked ham with horseradish, are excellent. Generous portions and fair prices. An authentic restaurant well worth a visit.
