12/08/2025: An almost perfect experience The place is cute, small but very welcoming. The food was truly excellent, with excellent value. The four stars are due to two small details that, in my opinion, can make the difference. As a side dish, we were offered a plate of "sautéed vegetables," but we received simply seasoned spinach. It would have been more accurate to specify that it was spinach, especially since it's not a popular side dish for everyone, and it's a shame to waste it. The second flaw was the lack of desserts. I understand the August season, but I would have expected at least a small selection, perhaps a semifreddo or a mini cannoli. Despite these issues, overall we had a very good time.

06/10/2025: At an event in Marsala, two of us ate a fixed-price menu for €50. Excellent appetizers, very peppery risotto, busiate pasta with anchovies, over-seasoned and very heavy with oil, hard to digest, and a very "showy" but unappetizing paddlefish. Overall, we weren't satisfied, even though the offerings were definitely more than the price. The wine was good.

One flaw: for ready-made meals, a 15% service charge at the end of the bill in Catania is way too much, especially considering you're already paying for the cover charge. If I'd looked at the receipt first, I definitely would have done or said something.

04/11/2025: Il Barcaiolo è un'incantevole ristorante immerso in un paesaggio molto particolare, si potrebbe dire quasi un delizioso "nascondiglio" armonioso tra mare e montagna.La sublime qualità del pesce, gli ottimi antipasti, la bontà dei primi e la genuinità delle pietanze vi stupirà piacevolmente!Il tutto "condito" da un servizio impeccabile: personale attento e davvero gentilissimo.Lo consiglio a tutti, credetemi sarà un'esperienza indimenticabile!

04/11/2025: Buatta is highlighted in the Michelin Guide as a restaurant offering good value for money – a recommendation that initially piqued my interest and prompted me to visit. Unfortunately, I have to say: I find this recommendation completely unfounded. It became clear from the start that the evening would not be pleasant. Since I'm from South Tyrol and my Italian isn't perfect, the waiter repeatedly and mockingly referred to me as "Crucca" – a disrespectful and completely inappropriate comment, especially in an establishment that caters to an international clientele. My companion, who speaks fluent Italian, was equally baffled by this behavior. We had ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings – a concept that usually emphasizes harmony and culinary coordination. At Buatta, however, it felt impersonal and unprofessional. With each course, the waiter pressured me to "finish my wine" so he could pour the next one. When my friend briefly left the table, the next glass of wine was poured without any explanation. Not a word about the grape variety, no description, no connection to the dish. When I later inquired, I received only a flippant, "Nero d'Avola, it'll go with your dish." The wine pairing was a complete disappointment: neither well-matched nor convincing in terms of flavor. The dishes themselves were equally lackluster. The antipasti consisted of three small portions—two with fish, one with meatballs—without any discernible concept or balance. The starter was spaghetti with cuttlefish—an uninspired dish that neither looked nor tasted appropriate for a tasting menu. The main course, salsiccia with potatoes and a bit of broccoli, was simple and more reminiscent of a basic pub meal than creative Sicilian cuisine. The meal concluded with a cinnamon bun with lemon granita—a strange, unbalanced finale that lacked any culinary cohesion. In conclusion: Buatta falls far short of its reputation. Neither the cuisine nor the service reflected the quality or respect one would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The wine pairing was disappointing, the dishes unbalanced, and the staff's manner towards guests simply disrespectful. Palermo has many excellent restaurants – after this experience, Buatta is sadly not one of them.

29/10/2025: We had the ravioli and the annelletti and were delighted. The food had a special touch and, in our opinion, it still deserves its Michelin star. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

05/08/2025: Ho mangiato in questo ristorante consigliato da varie persone. Tutto molto buono, porzioni molto abbondanti rapporto qualità prezzo fantastico e personale cortese. Da provare

01/08/2025: Non eravamo mai stati a Portopalo e dopo una visita al centro città ci siamo spostati in zona porto. Per puro caso ci siamo fermati in questo ristorante. Sono stati gentilissimi a farci accomodare nonostante non avessimo prenotato in quanto la sala era piena e molti non hanno avuto la nostra stessa fortuna. Abbiamo mangiato del pesce freschissimo cucinato e marinato sapientemente. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere dei contenitori per portare a casa quel ben di Dio che non siamo riusciti a mangiare. Abbiamo preso un Piatto Mare per 2 persone veramente abbondante. Ottima anche la pasta fresca ripiena, una grande differenza rispetto al classico raviolo pronto congelato per non parlare del fritto misto che ha preso mio figlio. Alla fine è rimasto spazietto per un ottimo sorbetto al limone. Lo consiglio vivamente e consiglio di prenotare.

13/10/2025: If I could give more than 5 stars for service, I would. Steven was outstanding. He welcomed us in, even when the restaurant was not open for another 1/2 hour. He made us comfortable in a strange country and helped us order outstanding food. Highly recommend
