11/10/2025: Very elegant restaurant. Very clean rooms. Friendly staff. Superlative food and an excellent wine list. The owner is constantly seeking out the best his region has to offer to satisfy even the most demanding palates. One visit isn't enough to try everything. Definitely recommended.

09/10/2025: Located in a quiet alley in the historic center, behind the main Piazza Vittorio Veneto, this restaurant offers top-quality cuisine based on Lucanian ingredients and products, creating an alchemy of new and original flavors while always respecting local traditions. This is thanks to the owner, chef Francesco Abbondanza, who over the years has refined a gastronomic research that was already remarkable in its early days and has now become superlative. All this in an elegant and minimalist setting that, thanks to the perfect lighting and intimate atmosphere despite its spaciousness and airiness, immediately puts you at ease, thanks also to the professionalism and friendliness of the staff (Daniele is top notch!) and the attentiveness of the host. Excellent wine selection! In short, whether for lunch or dinner, L'Abbondanza Lucana is an experience to be enjoyed and savored. And to be relived again, because while it's unforgettable, you'll be longing to return.

22/09/2025: Great Service, good Ambiente, but the Pasta and the Risotto were really disappointing. In particular the Risotto seriously missed the point of a serious and deed Taste. The Pepper Starters were good.

15/10/2025: In recent years I have often observed that in Italian restaurants the chefs are of colored,,g origin. And the food prepared by them has nothing to do with real Italian restaurants. I am disappointed once again.

04/09/2025: A quaint and quite welcoming place. It's a shame they don't follow the menu, or rather, some dishes don't reflect what's written on the menu. If we order four starters of porcini orecchiette and truffle cream, you can't serve us orecchiette with a mix of mushrooms like sautéed in a pan (with all due respect to those who eat them) thinking I won't notice... Furthermore, after having pointed this out to the wait staff, we expected it to at least not be included in the full-price bill! But no! €12 for a simple plate of orecchiette with mushrooms. What a shame!

30/08/2025: We stopped for dinner at a table outside, everything was ok, at a certain point the waiters disappeared to reinforce the inside part... a long wait for the 🍕.

The daughter literally just stood there and whinged about every table. Also, if you don't leave a tip, you don't get a bell ring. Which is a sign of total disrespect. 07/10/2025: We went because it was recommended to us by the place we were staying. The first night, three of us went at 8:30 p.m. and they kicked us out because they didn't have a free table, without giving us the chance to wait. We went again at 7:50 p.m. the next day and were able to get in. The food was delicious, and the waiters were very friendly. For dessert, we ordered tiramisu, which was also delicious. The food and value for money are highly recommended. Recommendation: Go before opening or go when the first group of people have finished dinner, but they close at 10 p.m. Getting in is a random process.

28/09/2025: I ate at Pane e Lavoro in Rotondella: the food was good and well-prepared, and the prices were average. The only thing I should mention was the slightly longer wait than expected. Overall, a positive experience.

11/10/2025: The food was very good, and the service was also friendly. It was supposedly outside, but no one else was smoking. The only thing missing was the nervous owner, who was moving from table to table, trying to watch the game on his tablet with poor internet, chain-smoking. ugh.

06/10/2025: Nice place, but the service is pushy, and the staff is very unfriendly and not at all polite. When I criticized a dish that wasn't a success and was sent back, they didn't even apologize or offer to fix anything. I don't recommend it.

06/10/2025: We had a great dinner there with a friend who lives in Rotondella. She said it was the best and we totally agree. It is a family run restaurant and they were ready to give us some of the local delicacies. We had the antipasto platter, then specialty pie called L’Patizz, one stuffed with pork the other potato and green peppers. Then dried and then quickly fried red peppers, called peperoni cruschi - very tasty and crunchy. We also tried the local pasta Frizzole co middiche. The pasta is hand rolled and curled with an iron rod. The chef came out to talk to us and it was a very friendly place. A very enjoyable evening.

31/08/2025: We ate on a panoramic terrace with a spectacular view. Excellent sausage, eggplant, salad, and ricotta tart. We returned two days later. Same table, same view. Falagoni calzone with potatoes and onions as an appetizer. Frizzuli as a first course: handmade pasta with a mixed meat tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. Ricotta and chocolate tart. Everything was excellent, and the lady serving the tables was very friendly.

02/10/2025: I stopped by while exploring Matera. It has a local feel and a great location. I ordered bruschetta and carbonara. I've read other reviews that the carbonara was poorly rated, but it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were al dente and the flavor was easy for Japanese people to enjoy. I'd definitely return if I visit Matera again.

26/09/2025: Unfortunately, we're just uneducated foreigners—every Italian should decide for themselves whether this is a typical spaghetti carbonara lucana and whether the huge pieces of ham (consisting almost entirely of fat) are just right... - The spaghetti was still really crispy, by the way, but maybe that means "al dente" here in Matera... The portion, by the way, was originally only slightly larger... No foreigners received a bread basket at their tables, although, of course, the cover charge was billed later....

07/10/2025: We really enjoyed our dinner this evening! This was recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint. So cool to have your dinner in a cave.

02/10/2025: I ordered cod, but disappointed very much, it is salty whatever cod and fish, no one come to check the taste, and after told gem there was no any response, service is also terrible as well, she asked my go to counter to check, but when I was there nobody, I have to wait, the price they charged me 13 eur with any notice in advance.
