02/11/2025: Family dinner (6 people) on a Saturday evening. The service was prompt and accurate despite the room being full. The dishes were typical of Lucanian cuisine and absolutely impeccable. The price was average. The location is quaint and clean, inside the baronial castle. Highly recommended!

05/11/2025: Like everything in Matera, the best thing about it is the atmosphere, which is fantastic. The locally sourced beef was cooked to perfection and tasted good, but it was quite fibrous. The selection of meats and cheeses is worthwhile. The sausage with potatoes is a kind of chorizo criollo, but with an anise-flavored spice that overpowers the meat's flavor. The formaggie cheese was very good. As I said, the best thing about it all was the atmosphere.

06/11/2025: In my humble opinion, one of the top three restaurants in the entire region. The food is excellent (very varied and thoughtful appetizers), generous first courses, and incredibly high-quality meat-based second courses. The atmosphere is a dream. The wait staff is professional, especially Mimmo, an excellent host who takes great care of his guests. The quality/price ratio is reasonable. Rotondella, a wonderful little village.
04/11/2025: Great Basilicata’s food experience.
Our menù was simple like traditional Basilicata food, yet sooo good.
Frizzuli and Cruschi are the must-try dishes to have a glimpse of the taste of Basilicata.
Prices were super honest, quantities more than average and the service was rustic like the one you can have at home.
Really, a place which deserves to be visited, maybe more than once!

06/12/2025: In the center of Pisticci, you'll find "L'incontro," a trattoria-pizzeria in a charming location with stone vaults.
The staff is kind and friendly, as well as attentive in offering suggestions on delicacies to try. From appetizers (fried peperoni cruschi are a must) to first courses, second courses, and not to mention the pizzas.
The cuisine is made with the freshest ingredients and exudes the flavors of the region.
The desserts are a must.

07/12/2025: A completely negative experience. The restaurant is nice, but the rest is beyond praise. The food is based on onions, and the flavors are zero. The meatballs are practically tasteless. The tomatoes weren't cooked at all.
The staff were friendly. Everything else was negative. Never again. And I think the people who leave positive reviews don't know what the food means. You have to know how to handle the poverty of the place.

06/10/2025: We had a great dinner there with a friend who lives in Rotondella. She said it was the best and we totally agree.
It is a family run restaurant and they were ready to give us some of the local delicacies. We had the antipasto platter, then specialty pie called L’Patizz, one stuffed with pork the other potato and green peppers. Then dried and then quickly fried red peppers, called peperoni cruschi - very tasty and crunchy.
We also tried the local pasta Frizzole co middiche. The pasta is hand rolled and curled with an iron rod.
The chef came out to talk to us and it was a very friendly place. A very enjoyable evening.
31/08/2025: We ate on a panoramic terrace with a spectacular view. Excellent sausage, eggplant, salad, and ricotta tart.
We returned two days later. Same table, same view. Falagoni calzone with potatoes and onions as an appetizer. Frizzuli as a first course: handmade pasta with a mixed meat tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. Ricotta and chocolate tart.
Everything was excellent, and the lady serving the tables was very friendly.

01/11/2025: A restaurant in the heart of the Murgia Materana, excellent food and good prices, saving you a few euros compared to others on the same street. The restroom is clean despite the busy streets.
You can eat inside or outside on the panoramic terrace.
They don't accept lunch after 2:30 PM; I recommend arriving at 12:30 PM. After 1:00 PM, the number of people arriving is at a peak, although they do arrive fairly quickly.
31/10/2025: An absolute disgrace. The only reason I ended up here was because everything else was closed for siesta — and what a punishment that turned out to be. I honestly have no idea how this dump has a high rating. Every dish was an insult to the ingredients it was made from. It takes real “talent” to ruin food this badly. Whoever is in that kitchen shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a stove — they clearly have zero respect for taste, or for the people they’re serving. The salad was borderline edible (and still too acidic), but the rest was a complete disaster. If this is considered acceptable cooking in Italy, then the country’s entire culinary reputation is in serious trouble. This place is a tourist trap of the worst kind — disgusting, overpriced, and shameless. I left furious and offended that this kind of garbage is being sold as food.

15/07/2025: Personnel très sympathique. La vue est sublime et le cadre est très agréable. L’huile d’olive est excellente et avec le pain c’est très doux. Aucune faute, tout est parfait ! Ils ont tous les codes de la restauration. Nous vous recommandons spécialement la viande, qui à notre avis est une grande spécialité de cet endroit. Elle est tendre et très goûteuse. On a adoré ! Les pâtes ont un côté plus recherché et innovant. La carte des vins est surprenante, n’hésitez pas à en prendre. Bref, un très bon moment passé en famille. Nous reviendrons sans problème.

19/11/2025: We arrived and were greeted by a very Italian gentleman who smelled awful. I think both he and his clothes had been like that for days!!! The atmosphere is sad, it feels like a refectory. The food is appalling. I've never had such a bad meal. I had a traditional soup with 4 chickpeas and 2 lentils in warm water. As I've read in other reviews, if you pay by debit card they won't issue a receipt, requiring your cell phone number, which never arrives. Shut down!!! And now block me here too, since you've already done so on The Fork to avoid further reviews. Scammers!
03/11/2025: A disappointing experience in every way.
We arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 PM with a reservation through The Fork, but we didn't start eating until 3:30 PM, after an excessive wait and without any communication or apology from the staff.
Furthermore, we had chosen the restaurant for the option to pay with The Fork Pay, but when we received the bill, we were denied the service on the grounds that "the commission is too high for them." I pointed out to the owner that if the service isn't accepted, it shouldn't appear on the app, but was told that "the Fork Pay symbol can't be removed"—a statement that's incorrect, as many other restaurants properly handle this option.
As for the food, unfortunately, things didn't go any better: we ordered a carbonara, but were served a plate of trofie that tasted and looked completely different, with a sauce that seemed to be made with milk or Philadelphia. After pointing this out, we were told that "that was their carbonara," with no desire for clarification or customer service.
I also wanted to write a review on The Fork today to let people know that this is a place to avoid. My reservation for November 1, 2025, was moved on the app to November 10, 2025 (but I never booked on November 10... it's just a ploy to prevent the customer from writing a review because I won't be eating there that day, and therefore the reservation won't go through).
This therefore prevents me from writing a negative review of my lunch on November 1, 2025...
I've attached all the screenshots so you can understand.
Overall, a very disappointing experience, both in terms of the quality of the service and the food.
