15/08/2025: We stopped at La Pannocchia restaurant on our way back from the province of Naples. Mr. Rocco's advice was crucial in choosing our appetizers: delicious bruschetta with bacon and ash-baked potatoes, baked pecorino cheese, pasta with Lucanian-style meat ragù, and sliced Lucanian black pork. Everything was delicious, served with care and in a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

12/08/2025: The atmosphere is very quiet despite its central location. We went for lunch and ate typical local dishes, all delicious. They also have gluten-free options. The waiters were friendly and attentive. Recommended!

09/08/2025: This is the second time that I'm writing this comment. Unfortunately the first time it was deleted by mistake. Anyway I'm writing in English because it will be easier to understand for everybody. And also this is very short version of previous comment. 1. The food was good. 2. Wine: here I would like to tell A LOT A LOT about the wine. For the people, who don't know. Here, in Basilicana, they make a sparkling wine. Even in Matera is Matera spumante metodo classico. But I was drinking Prosecco😐. As a sommelier I like to taste something new. I like to taste the wine of the zone. But the sommelier/responsabile di sala decided that prosecco is good. I understand that here are a lot of tourists who don't give a damn about what are they drinking or eating or seeing, or hearing(about hearing later). But wine, architecture and food help you represent zone, to hove more client and, obviously earn more money. So please, put some spumante of the zone in your cantina. By the way, red wine is from Basilicana and it was good(after prosecco I asked for something local) 3. HEARING. Meanwhile I was eating, this osteria was visited by the group of Asian people. And I've heard some racist jokes from the waiter and responsabile sala, or whoever he is, which I don't really appreciate. If you don't like another races - speak about it at home, not on a work, or to a client. P.S. I didn't have a possibility to taste Matera spumante, so I can't tell anything about this. But still this is the wine of the zone. At least serve wine of Puglia, if you don't like Matera DOC, but not a sparkling from the opposite part of Italy...

24/07/2025: Comida muy sabrosa, muy bien presentada. El entrante de la ensalada de “pan rancio” era ligero y delicioso. La pasta de orchiette con salchicha Italiano estaba muy buena al igual que la parmigiana. Una nota negativa fue la carta de vinos que ofrecía botellas en su mayoría muy caras , sólo una o dos botellas por 25 euros luego un gran salto en el precio.

16/07/2025: The food was good, though nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the staff's behavior at checkout: they were rude, gave us rude feedback, and neither greeted nor thanked us. Despite our correct point out that the coffee was missing from the receipt, they responded rudely. Furthermore, the €4 cover charge per person seemed excessive.

22/06/2025: Original dishes even if based on local recipes, impeccable service, classy location, exquisite owner. What can I say? Recommended!

24/08/2025: First time in Castelmezzano and the first place we ate. We arrived for lunch after 3:20 PM, but were still welcomed and served. The strascinati and peperoni cruschi were excellent. The antipasto frittatine and the house wine were very good. Fair prices and trattoria-style portions, finally!

24/08/2025: A cold welcome. Excellent quality of ingredients and tasty dishes. Be prepared to climb a very steep flight of stairs to access the dining room.

07/09/2025: After we sat down and ordered, a waitress approached. I asked her for a simple question about a dish, and... she laughed in my face. Just like that, without warning, as if I were there performing a comedy act. The pasta arrived: not overcooked, more so. A soft mush, unlike anything I'd ever had in a school cafeteria. Meanwhile, a house cat appeared under the table, very calm, probably more at ease than we were. The second course? "Roast mixed." Five counted pieces of meat, which just looking at it would have satisfied you more than eating it, thank goodness we'd also ordered the first course... an optical illusion, obviously. The atmosphere was nice overall, the food was only okay because I was genuinely hungry, but nothing that would make me want to return. Value for money? Good. Better restaurants? Yes, plenty. Just look around.

06/08/2025: Posto fantastico, cucina alla vecchia maniera, abbiamo preso: fusilli fatti in casa, alicine fritte, orata e zucchine sotto olio. Prenotazione presa alle 21.30 quindi anche abbastanza tardi.

05/09/2025: A pleasant dinner in a very traditional restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent, including the local wine and amaro. The staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were fair.

29/08/2025: I think it's the best restaurant in Trecchina! Small but very well-kept, the service impeccable, and the food! Everything was excellent, but the Trecchinesi cingoli with crusco peppers, Podolica ricotta cheese, and bread cubes were spectacular! The chef, besides being a great professional, is also someone who goes out of his way to help others. Unique people still exist!

19/08/2025: We visited Lanterna Verde in Trecchina and were captivated by every dish, from appetizer to dessert. We enjoyed an excellent mixed antipasto, ravioli with butter and sage, pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, and, for the main course, veal stew with potatoes and cruschi peppers. Everything was carefully prepared, using local ingredients and authentic flavors. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff friendly, and the prices were fair (about €20-30 per person). A restaurant that combines tradition and quality: highly recommended! The pizza, which I thought was delicious, was delicious. Next time I visit, I'll try the pizza.
