02/01/2026: I was with friends for a post-dinner drink, and we chose this place based on past experiences that were neither praise nor infamy. We arrived at the place and were off to a bad start, with two people smoking inside the covered veranda. We attempted to order some gins from the long list available on the menu, but they promptly weren't available... After about 4-5 failed attempts at ordering gin, and one attempt at ordering a beer, where none of the 4 on the menu were available, we decided to let the waiter decide, indicating our tastes... My friends were a little luckier, but I received some real "fuel"... As long as I live, I will never set foot there again. Thank you and never again.

27/12/2025: A terrible spritz, all ice in a plastic cup. Paid €8 without a single crisp or appetizer. Outrageous.

01/04/2026: Stayed here in 2006. We walked all the way to Tropea from the hotel. I'm still traumatised by the big snakes on the road and the thirst and the cars whizzing by.

04/02/2026: We spent a week in this hotel and we had a really good time, starting from the very kind staff who provided us with all the services we needed, up to the cleanliness of the room. The beach is really excellent and equipped with all beach services... I highly recommend it, see you next time ❤️ The family that runs the hotel was very welcoming and did everything to make us feel at home. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an authentic and family-friendly experience. We were guests of this family-run hotel and I must say it was a truly pleasant experience. The food was very good, with carefully prepared dishes and fresh ingredients. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was impeccable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Really kind, dear friends, I recommend it because you will not be disappointed, on the contrary, you will be satisfied, you will find new rooms, new bathrooms and more, go there friends, to Hotel La Praia, you will eat well and sleep well, see you soon, Hotel La Praia ❤️😁😀😀

15/05/2025: Incredible!!! We've enjoyed an excellent aperitivo here twice now. The reasonable price doesn't reflect the outstanding quality of the authentic food. The ambiance and the very friendly staff made the evening a highlight. Thank you!

11/05/2025: This restaurant is not worth visiting. Food is overpriced and simply not good (served on plastic (!) plates )- same goes for the service - waiters are buzzing around you constantly, talking on their walkie-talkies like they are in a swat team (mind that at the time only 3 tables were taken) making it impossible to enjoy the meal (not that there is much to enjoy). Stay away for your own good.

03/01/2026: We had a Calabrian appetizer and a Margherita...both excellent!!! The girl serving us was very kind... We'd go back...

28/12/2025: I was there hours ago, poor service, staff (it was just one girl) a bit incompetent. The bathroom was in the kitchen🫣 the pizza arrived raw, we asked if they could push the tables together since we were a group of people and we were told they couldn't. Hygiene 0 the bathroom was in the kitchen and it was dirty, I didn't take photos. High prices for what you get, I don't recommend it.

19/04/2026: My daughter and I ate there in March. The pizza is very good, no matter what you order. But I also ordered the ribs, and that was the biggest mistake. The dish looked very good, but unfortunately only on the outside. The meat was tough and bloody inside, like a beef steak. I highly recommend the pizza 😍 but NOT the ribs. It's a decent place, a great place to have a good time. Best regards to the staff.

19/04/2026: Don't order the gnocchi!!! They're worse than canned! The pizza was delicious. The dishes weren't served together; I'd already finished when my husband got his food.

30/11/2025: Passing through Macomer, I was curious to try this renowned gelato with three Gambero Rosso cones. Unfortunately, I found it closed at 2:30 PM on Saturday because it didn't reopen until 4:00 PM. I could understand weekdays, but a gelato shop of this renown can't afford to have such hours on weekends, even in late autumn.

23/11/2025: An incredible place, a magic and charm that's impossible to explain. I arrived there by chance and felt welcomed as if I were with friends I already knew because the atmosphere provides that – simplicity in the way you are received, but with glamour, great drinks, cheerful music, a feeling of freedom that makes you not want to leave!! I can't wait to go back.

25/09/2025: We didn't even wait a minute for a table, they were very efficient! The place was so pleasant and quiet that it even seemed closed.

10/04/2026: The Aperols are a little more expensive than in other places in Tropea, but they do the job.

02/04/2026: Great location. Friendly service. Excellent pastries and desserts. The coffee was also very good. A meeting place for locals and tourists alike.

04/05/2026: A place with untapped potential. Atmospheric, peaceful, with quiet music. The service was unobtrusive, okay. However, the food was very average – not seasoned. No discernible garlic, a small amount of vongola in the dish, bland – you feel like you're eating just pasta. The only positive was the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. The carbonara was also bland – made with the worst quality meat. I don't recommend it. It's a shame, because the place is charming. The chef needs to be replaced. It's very disappointing that you can eat bad pasta in Italy.

03/05/2026: The carbonara I ordered turned out to be overly salted and the bacon was stringy, I do not recommend it.

17/10/2025: We have had some great meals at some really good restaurants in our two weeks in Italy and this place was our run away favourite - we ate here 3 times. Our favourite dishes were the Fileja la Rossa (pasta with tomatoes, onion, olives and capers - perfect) and the Mastru Totu Pizza (topped with tomato, olives, capers, anchovies and burrata (like a cold Mozzarella but better)). Sitting outside in the small square beside the restaurant was a beautiful and peaceful place to eat. The service was brilliant. They were very apologetic that their internet was not working and we had to pay by cash (I am not sure why that would be an issue - I managed to live for 35 years without the Internet). In writing this review I am a bit shocked to see quite a few poor reviews. Hard to understand why, based on our experience this restaurant is brilliant.

13/10/2025: The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, even with our little girls. The atmosphere was romantic and quaint, with a lovely outdoor terrace. Superb food featuring fish, octopus, and Tropea red onions. Highly recommended.

18/01/2026: We had a wonderful experience here! The Calabrian Spritz tasted delicious, unlike any other drink we've had in Calabria! The owner was very friendly. We highly recommend this bar.

24/10/2025: It's incredibly beautiful here. Aperol and Campari Spritz are truly amazing. Delicious snacks are on the house. Highly recommended.

27/04/2026: This is the best restaurant in Tropea so far! And it deserves much higher appreciation for sure. Maybe it's not the cheapest place, but the cuisine is outstanding! I believe, it deserves a Michelin's star. Highly recommended!

14/04/2026: Enchanting place! I spent a wonderful evening here, and having booked for an early dinner, I was lucky enough to get a table with a truly breathtaking view. The food was excellent: we had a mixed antipasto, plus a trio of onions and Calabrian pitta, and I must say I was impressed. Initially, given the restaurant's central location, I was worried it might be too touristy; instead, everything was delicious. The quality-price ratio, especially considering the location, seemed reasonable. For three of us, we spent about 80 euros.
