30/09/2024: Reservamos nuestra visita a través de la página web y nos avisaron que nos enviarían el menú la noche anterior para ver si todavía queríamos ir. ¡Claro que sí! El menú sonaba delicioso y la oportunidad de escuchar, discutir y probar los maridajes de vinos con la comida era imperdible. ¡No nos decepcionaron! Fuimos recibidos por Michele que nos mostró a nuestra mesa (fuera en una terraza preciosa con el sonido del mar a solo unos metros de distancia). Explicó que estaríamos probando una serie de platos regionales junto con lo que consideraron el mejor maridaje de vinos. Los platos llegaron a un flujo constante junto con el vino y nos encantó a todos. Por supuesto, los platos contenían un ingrediente único de la región: la cebolla Tropea, que hacía que cada plato supiera como algo que no había probado antes. La oportunidad de discutir cada plato / vino con Michele fue tan buena y aprendimos mucho de su conocimiento. Conocimos a Romana, la esposa de Michele y su hija. Lo que nos dio la oportunidad de agradecer a Romana por hacer los platos tan maravillosamente. Fue un asunto familiar basado en el amor y esto se produjo en la comida y el vino. Bien hecho Michele y Romana. Le deseo suerte en su restaurante y espero que mucha gente pueda probar la forma en que la cocina italiana debe saber.

18/09/2024: Mi padre y yo estábamos visitando Calabria para ver los pueblos de donde venía nuestra familia. Pasamos un par de días en Tropea, y Osteria della Cipolla Rossa fue lo más destacado. La comida era increíble - vino y comida. Era arte verdadero y delicioso. ¡Tan talentoso! Una experiencia única para aprender más sobre la historia de la región a través de la comida. Toda la familia era maravillosa. No puedo recomendar esto lo suficiente. La experiencia bien valió la pena, y un recuerdo duradero. ¡Esperemos que tú también lo disfrutes! Logísticamente, envíe una nota a su correo electrónico. Ofrecen clases de cocina o maridaje de vinos con alimentos. Hicimos lo último. Van al mercado cada mañana (no use refrigeradores, cocine fresco ese día) , por lo que el menú cambia todos los días.

28/04/2025: A real scam! I ordered swordfish, they served me what you see in the photo, cut into almost transparent slices! Without tasting anything due to its thinness, I asked for a little pink onion and put it on top to give it some flavor. I was starving, I went out and had to go eat again at another restaurant. Disappointing.

11/05/2025: Piacevolissima cena a Tropea a pochi passi dalla famosa Piazza del Cannone. Il ristorante offre un ricco menù di pesce e in cucina lo Chef Giuseppe fa magie: niente artifizi, solo materie prime eccellenti e tanta passione. Ambiente curato e ottima selezione musicale di sottofondo. Abbiamo gustato una squisita impepata di cozze, la fileja con le cipolle di Tropea e la calamarata con pesce spada e melanzane.

02/06/2025: Visited twice. First evening we were drawn in by the great 80’s music. Loved it. Dined and had fun. Food was good and service great. Then, we reserved a place for the next evening, for 21:00, outside. They even wrote it down. We came a bit early, and waited in the pub next door. When we approached the restaurant, we were told there was no place outside. I said it was written in their ledger. They said yes, and moved a couple inside. However, the table we got was under the big screen TV broadcasting a football match between PSJ and Milan. Very loud. Impossible. We felt disregarded and insulted. Took our things and went away without having dinner there. A “reserved” sign in a decent place would be the correct thing to do. Disrespect will not bring customers back.

26/05/2025: Very nice food and dessert. Ambiente and the music was amazing! Definitely one of the best places to be in tropea.

30/05/2025: Une expérience gustative excellente ! Nous avions choisi des plats de pâtes différents pour goûter et savourer. Quel plaisir! Oignons rouges, fondue de pecorino, anchois et autres crevettes, tout était ravissement!

23/05/2025: Tous les plats sont préparés avec des produits d'excellente qualité et avec beaucoup de soin. L'accueil et l'ambiance sont familiaux, le service est soigné et les serveurs sont très à l'écoute. Tout est réuni pour passer un excellent moment.

07/01/2025: Bellissimo pranzo, fuori stagione, con tutta la famiglia. Gestore molto simpatico e cordiale: cibo molto buono, curato e ben strutturato. Veramente sopra ogni aspettativa! Ci siamo divertiti, mangiato bene e bevuto pure. Consigliamo per un buon passaggio con ottimo rapporto qualità - prezzo!

07/03/2025: There are a few nice views and lots of beautiful and probably not entirely poor people to admire in this harbor. It's best to walk a little further outside the village, because afterwards there's a worthwhile, deserted beach.

29/05/2025: Expensive and not worth the price in our opinion. Felt like a tourist trap. Came here because of the recommendation on Google. We were iffy but they ushered us in before having a chance to look at the menu. Also were served water right away so we felt a bit stuck. After looking at the menu, we noticed high prices. Beer was the most expensive we’ve seen in the town. We decided to give the pizza a try - had the Mela. It was fine but bland. Again, the highest price for pizza that we saw in town. Nothing to rave about. We had 1 pizza to share and 1 beer and it cost €30. €6 sitting fee (for 2 people - which sitting fees are expected but this felt high on top of the high prices). Felt a bit ripped off here. Can find WAY better quality and value elsewhere. Would not recommend. Go to La Lamia or Il Convivio. Better prices and way better food. Don’t get tourist trapped here. Nice views and location though.
