Gelateria Nonna Rosa In Tropea

Super-touristy place = super-touristy prices. Good ice cream.

During our stay at Terrazzo del Borgo, breakfast was served at Nonna Rosa across the street. Adele and Valentina were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming every single day. We were greeted with a big smile each morning and even had a lactose-free cappuccino prepared especially for us, which we greatly appreciated. The breakfast offers something for everyone. It has a distinctly Italian flair and is therefore a bit sweeter, but there's also fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, and other savory options. The warm atmosphere and excellent service made breakfast a daily highlight for us. Many thanks to Adele and Valentina for their wonderful hospitality!

The staff is very friendly and nice; we were treated excellently. We had seven pasticcini for €9 and a café macchiato for €2. There was no cover charge. We also went there one evening, as they offer an alcoholic drink and small snacks for €10 between 12-2 pm and 6-9 pm. We didn't particularly enjoy this, as the small fried balls were only warmed up and not crispy. The Tropea cocktail was okay, but nothing special. I would recommend it for pasticcini, ice cream, and cakes.

While visiting this great place the day before yesterday, I was suddenly struck by a health condition. I have to thank the staff for the amazing care they provided me and for the first aid, thanks to which I was back to full strength after a few minutes. You are all great! And the refreshments too. Thanks ❤️

The best ice cream of my entire vacation! The small portion was huge, and the taste was amazing. All for just 3 euros.

I spent a week in Tropea and had aperitivo in many places all over the Centro storico. Nonna rosa advertised “happy hour” from 6-9 pm with a drink and “local food” for 10€. Fine, fair price and good location just by the Piazza Cannone. So I (a solo traveler) went to the patio and was offered a table in the middle, right by the speaker playing loud Italian songs. Plenty of open seats by the window. Since I couldn’t hear my own thoughts due to the music, I kindly asked to change seats, at least twice, as even more tables opened up. But no, the response (twice) was that those tables were for four people. Still empty. Lo and behold, a couple came and immediately got seated at one of the vacant four tops. After the restaurant even raised the music, I made for a quick exit after an average drink and an ok snack plate (mostly bread). Too bad, the location is excellent but the service could be so much better.

Ivan and Antonio were very kind. Beautiful place, and just after climbing so many steps! Highly recommended!! Come visit!
