28/01/2026: Excellent place, after the bad news of its closure at the end of the year, the good news is that it's reopening with a truly talented chef from Casoli, apparently, along with the help of Rita and, I hope, the old staff, who are truly brilliant. It would have been a shame if it hadn't happened.

13/04/2026: A small bar in Lucca's historic center, barely larger than a room with a few tables facing the balcony, plus another modestly sized interior room. They also offer lunch service, with frozen products and no "artisanal" preparations, as they lack a proper kitchen. The dessert display is disappointing: only frozen croissants, along with a fruit tart and an Easter dove cake that are anything but pleasing to the eye. Then there are many processed products (candies, chocolates, cookies, Easter eggs, etc.) from more or less well-known brands, including Venchi. The coffee quality is barely passable. The service is friendly, yet aloof. The prices for croissants and coffee are average, but very high for processed products. In response to the owner: no "unfair criticism," just a REASONED and factually supported viewpoint. The display is sparse, with croissants clearly frozen (the fact that they come from an external supplier makes no difference). A tart and a colomba cake, sad to even look at. And then nothing else available: quite respectful for a place founded a hundred years ago. And yes, I confirm, Venchi, Majani & Co. ARE industrial products. Excellent quality, but industrial products nonetheless. They urgently need to reconsider. ;)

03/06/2026: It's worth seeking out and knowing where it is, but once you've tried it, you'll never forget it. It's the classic place where you eat well and spend little, with a perfect table setting and competent staff. I recommend it...maybe make a reservation. The review above is from 7 years ago; I returned on June 1, 2026, and I confirm what I'd already written. I hope many of you will go there. At the moment, you can also eat outside; they have parking, which is located by following the uphill path behind the restaurant. They continue to cook well and keep the prices low. I'll definitely be back next time (it's not exactly close). I continue to recommend it.

23/01/2026: Elegant and welcoming location. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The risotto of the day was cacio e pepe, creamy and flavorful. The tagliata and tagliolini with truffle were also very good. Attentive and friendly service. We had a wonderful time.

13/04/2026: The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly; the staff is young but very knowledgeable and helpful, not to mention the pizza is excellent! I highly recommend it.

27/04/2026: We ate here last night and it was the best food we've had in Italy this holiday, which is saying something as the quality of the food here is excellent. The staff are very hospitable and speak excellent English. The chef appeared a number of times to speak to guests. We enjoyed our experience here so much that, despite many good options, we came back again tonight.

06/06/2026: Ristorante Giglio one of the best restaurants for me so far, I was in a training at Giglio for a long period and I was very well received. The food was special, made with dedication and passion, the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was calm. One of my best experiences was there, where the Chefs: Stefano, Benedeto and Lorenzo were the best 👌

02/06/2026: This was our second time here. First time was 7 years ago and was much better. This time the service was awful. The guy who served our table didn’t offer a wine list and took our food order first and when I asked him about the wine list he said he’ll bring it after the food order is placed as if it was a normal practice. I tried their Menu a Mano Libero for €65 which included three random appetizers + a choice of main + desert. My wife ordered one main a la carte and two french fries for the kids. If we were to order the exact same items from the menu a la carte, the total cost would be €107. They gave us a check for €130 for food, which was adjusted down after I brought up the concern but followed by some rude explanation from the server. I’ve never received a desert which was supposed to be included in the Menu a Mano Libero. When we tried ordering a second round of french fries or some other version of potatoes, the server refused claiming the chef will not do it because it’s too late (was around 14:30) and it will take 30 minutes to make (first order of fries took 20 minutes at most). Overall poor service considering the Michelin designation. Aside from service, we were disappointed by the dated interior as nothing was invested in the restaurant over the past 7 years, some decor elements have disappeared. It’s not a very pleasant atmosphere and I wouldn’t be back.

16/03/2026: We had booked with The Fork, they cancelled the reservation with the reason "closure of the restaurant" instead, passing by us to reach another restaurant we see that it is open...

13/03/2026: Truly excellent restaurant in the Darsena district of Viareggio. A charming and well-kept venue with a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the service was attentive, friendly, and professional. We started with a five-course appetizer, each one more delicious than the last. This was followed by a sublime Viareggio-style risotto, and truly special paccheri with calamari and shrimp. To finish, a homemade dessert: a simply wonderful strudel with ice cream. An experience I absolutely recommend.

06/06/2026: I went for a business lunch and wasn't very impressed. The service was a bit slow. The tordelli were good and homemade, and the ragù was very simple. The fried chicken wasn't good; it was basically tossed in oil without any batter or flouring. The price is good, €15 for the full menu, but I'm sorry, I won't be back. It's a shame they could do much better if they reworked the food a bit.
