26/04/2026: The food was inedible. The restaurant has potential, being right on the lakefront, but it's in a terrible state, and everything is old and shabby. Unfortunately, as kind and friendly as the staff was, the food was inedible. It wasn't good at all, quite the opposite. It's a real shame. However, it does meet Varenna's standards; every restaurant I've tried here has been very disappointing in terms of food.

27/04/2026: On the day of arrival, we opted for convenience. And this restaurant is perfectly suited for that. Great prices for good quality pizza and pasta. We enjoyed the Italian cuisine with a nice glass of wine. The service is friendly; they speak limited English, but that is not a problem when ordering. Dishes were served very quickly.

I write these words with a hint of melancholy, after returning to what for me, since time immemorial, has been not just a restaurant, but a true refuge. I've been coming to Rucola since I was a boy; it saw me become a man, a husband, and a father. It's where I've celebrated the most important milestones in my family, from my children's first communion, with the certainty that we would be welcomed not as customers, but as longtime friends. Yesterday, sadly, I strongly felt the absence of what made this place special: Biagio's warm and ever-present welcome. The memories of Maurizio's Inter Milan that colored the shelves. That historic cuisine, made of unchanging flavors that tasted of home and security. Food is important, but the owners' smile was the secret ingredient that completed every dish. Entering La Rucola meant disconnecting from everything and feeling protected by a management team that put their heart and soul into it. ​I want to send a heartfelt greeting to all the people who have shaped the history of this restaurant and to all the customers who, like me, shared a part of their journey at those tables. 13/05/2026: Excellent self-service restaurant even if it is served at the counter, where you can choose between different first courses, different second courses and different side dishes available between meat and fish and different lunch menu offers, they accept all tickets

07/05/2026: The pizza is an acquired taste, the meat is a bit dry. This establishment has a dining room, but it's closed after 4 pm. The staff is helpful and very friendly.
