01/06/2025: A monument that stands on the remains of a large Roman villa, inhabited until late antiquity, which between the 6th and 7th centuries became a castrum of those Byzantines who had retained control of the nearby port of Aternum (Pescara) as a fundamental landing place and intermediate port between the capital of the Exarchate Ravenna and Constantinople, and who clearly created the first nucleus of the historic Torre Alex (from Alessandro Valignano, one of the lords of the Valignano family of Cepagatti in the 17th century). The tower was consolidated in the Lombard era as a control point of a strategic road junction at the crossroads between the S.S. Picena Aprutina and the routes that went up to Forca di Penne and the Aquilano, and which from the 11th-12th centuries became the seat of the lords of the fiefdom of the Norman, Swabian and Angevin eras of Cepagatti, and then passed from the 15th century to the Valignano family and finally to the current owners. The first archaeological investigations by the Superintendency date back to the 1970s and continued between 1998 and 2011 in Piazza S. Rocco, bringing to light important evidence of the Roman era preserved in the City Council Hall. The restoration of the Castle returns to the public the so-called “sala delle cisterne” (cistern room), an authentic and rare Roman cistern 22 meters long and 4 meters wide, as well as the “sala del grano” (grain room), 340 square meters large on the top floor of the monument with a panoramic view of the Pescara valley. The restoration of the Marcantonio Castle, begun in 2008, represents a “place in history” and the over 2000 square meters spread over 4 levels offer the possibility of hosting particularly evocative events. 07/05/2025: I miei genitori e io siamo clienti della struttura da 30 anni..Ero piccolo quando i miei mi portavano a mangiare la pizza a Santa Croce.Con il passare degli anni ad ogni visita ho visto il locale migliorare sempre di più,la struttura, la sala è stata ampliata, il menù è sempre più ampio e puoi trovare sempre qualcosa di nuovo.,cosi come come il personale sempre organizzato e gentile. L'anno scorso ho avuto il piacere di festeggiarci il battesimo di mia figlia e mi sono trovato benissimo. Ad oggi il locale può vantare un menù variegato e completo che spazia da Antipasti sia tradizionali che innovativi ai primi, alla selezione di carni, arrosticini di vario tipo oltre che alla pizza che è sempre una garanzia. Ogni volta trovo qualcosa di nuovo infatti ieri c'era il padellino che è una novità da provare!!Anche per quanto riguarda la cantina ci sono bottiglie per tutti i gusti dai vini fermi alle bollicine metodo classico.Continueremo con piacere a venire a trovarli!!

31/05/2025: The appetizers and first course were good, the fried food was disappointing We went to La Cucala to try the set menu, which includes a trio of appetizers, a first course and a second course of your choice with a side dish. I must say the gnocchi chosen as a first course were delicious, tasty and well cooked. Unfortunately, the second course disappointed me: I had the fried calamari, but it was frozen and not very pleasant. The calamari skewers were also not up to the standard of the rest of the meal. Overall, the experience was half-baked: a great start, but the second course lowered the level. With a little more attention to the quality of the fried food, it could be an excellent choice for eating fish.

31/05/2025: Siamo stati da La Cucala per provare il menu fisso, che include un tris di antipasti, un primo e un secondo a scelta con contorno. Devo dire gli gnocchi asapargi e gamberetti scelti come primo erano buonissimi, saporiti e ben cucinati. Purtroppo il secondo mi ha delusa: ho preso la frittura di calamari , ma era surgelata e poco gradevole. Anche gli spiedini di calamari non erano all'altezza del resto del pasto. Nel complesso, l’esperienza è stata a metà: ottimo inizio, ma il secondo piatto ha abbassato il livello. Con un po’ più di attenzione alla qualità della frittura, potrebbe essere un’ottima scelta per mangiare pesce.

08/06/2025: Darei zero ma i camerieri hanno salvato la maleducazione del proprietario. Dopo aver sbagliato due volte l’ordinazione (invertendo gli ordini e portando i primi sbagliati) il proprietario ha avuto la delicatezza di venire al tavolo per incolparci dell’errore fatto dal cameriere (un ragazzo straniero a cui abbiamo ripetuto anche l’ordine due volte). L’errore si fa, non c’è problema. Ma venire a dire al tavolo che è colpa nostra proprio no (nell’incredulità del tavolo vicino) Semplicemente mai più.

03/06/2025: Ristorante semplice, sano e genuino. Che Iddio preservi questi luoghi, dove il cibo è ottimo, l'oste è cortese e i tempi sono consoni. In un'epoca di master chef, salse, intrugli, pseudo paravasocotture, ringraziando l'Onnipotente, alla Cantina dell'arrosticino si mangia come si deve, si esce soddisfatti e satolli e si gode del tempo trascorso. Massimo, il proprietario, è un uomo di esperienza, di tatto e di cuore. Un grazie infinto a lui, alla sua gentilezza e al sua professionalità. Tappa fissa ad Avezzano.
