14/09/2025: There's a bit of a queue, but the place is fantastic. We loved everything we ordered. The waiters were very attentive, and the price was good. We'll be back.

14/09/2025: Although there is a lot of hype around this place, it becomes clear after you go that it’s generated by inflated reviews of the waiters and not the actual food. After an hour wait standing in a random street in Trastevere (are they even allowed to just queue customers in a random street?), the experience left a bland taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). I ordered a carbonara , and it wasn’t bad per se, but it was average at best. There was nothing remarkable about it, the ingredients didn’t feel high-quality, it was made with bacon and not guanciale (could be acceptable if the pasta was great and honored the old time carbonara, but it wasn’t and it didn’t), anyway… you can find much better in smaller neighborhood restaurants for the same price. My friend also ordered a meat dish and it followed the same trend: bland and disappointing. Not a lot of seasoning, not cooked amazingly, just regular meat and potatoes that you could probably make at home in a similar fashion. For dessert, I ordered the tiramisu and that disappoints from the start. It arrives in a small cup, and you can see it’s very wrong just by looking at the regular common biscuit sticking out from it. You sink your spoon, and all you get back is this sweet cream that tastes like condensed milk with hints of cocoa and coffee in it. It’s just not worth the price or the name tiramisu. The restaurant would argue that they warn you it’s not “the classic tiramisu”, but to call it a tiramisu at all is an insult to the actual dessert it’s supposed to copy in any way. The only reason I’m not giving the food a one star is because the focaccia was really good and fresh, but that was literally the only item of our order worth mentioning in a positive light. The waiters clearly have a review quota to reach, as they all write their names down at the end of the meal asking for a review in Google. I feel sorry for the pressure they must feel, but the food doesn’t warrant a positive review, and the restaurant is clearly just a touristic spot that won’t offer the best Italian cuisine can offer. Find somewhere truly authentic to eat, skip Tonnarello. Tl;dr: average food at best, good service (but clearly under pressure), ok environment. Not remarkable, not special and also not worth the cost, just go somewhere else.

10/09/2025: Very good, but for literally ordering a slice of bread, they charged me 2 euros. They didn't charge table service, according to them, but in the end, ordering bread does cost money. And water, 3 euros, is a rip-off.

10/09/2025: Excellent service and very friendly staff. I highly recommend the tiramisu. 😋 I would definitely eat here again.

16/09/2025: Good. We'll be back. We went for lunch today and had a great meal. A modern trattoria, bringing a modern twist to all the classic Roman dishes. Quality food. Wide selection of appetizers, first courses, second courses, side dishes, and more. Vegetarians are also welcome. The desserts are delicious and authentic. We'll be back because we want to try other dishes; they're very inviting. The place is small and clean. The welcome is friendly. The price is fair and reasonable.

07/09/2025: Once again, a positive out-of-town experience. The menu is extensive and original, with a lot of attention paid to vegetables! The ingredients are top-quality and not left to chance. The dishes are beautifully crafted...must try!

21/07/2025: Fantastic local trattoria! The real deal! Local neighborhood off the beaten path but well worth for the walk. Should definitely make a reservation as the restaurant fills up fast.

19/07/2025: The vibe here is like a movie of a traditional local restaurant with old fashioned decor, plenty of locals, and the staff having lunch in the corner. Super nice server who didn't speak any English, but we got by in Spanish. I went with his recommendations and the good was delicious. Writing this review so that I can come back one day.

09/08/2025: Some are good, others are bland. There may be a top chef behind it, but meatballs are only good two or three ways. They're fast, but the service occasionally falters (distracted, forgetful). In my opinion, neither praise nor blame.

05/08/2025: Everything was very good. Each dish had its own unique flavor. The idea of making each dish into a meatball is really cute and original. However, in my opinion, it's very expensive for what you get...and it's precisely because of the price that I personally won't be returning. However, I have nothing to complain about the quality of the food, the kindness of the staff, and the location...

17/06/2025: Small but refined premises, pleasantly furnished with excellent seating and perfect for romantic dinners and lunches, business or small festive groups in which it is possible to have a conversation but where there is always an excellent musical base kept at the right volume. The service is perfectly managed by the excellent Matteo, Dining Room Manager, very attentive to details and the needs of customers who immediately feel welcomed and pampered in the right measure without unnecessary forcing! The Menu presents dishes that are all worth trying for the quality of raw materials and the method of presentation; the proposals combine tradition and innovation so that everyone can express and satisfy their needs in the best possible way, which are never disappointed!

13/09/2025: Tourist traps Mediocre ice cream and exorbitant prices If you have to hire people who don't even know how to make ice cream, at least give them some training, or at least inform customers that they can add chocolate to the cone before choosing the flavors.

14/09/2025: Exceptional! Truly delicious gelato. So far I've tried dark chocolate, pistachio, and mulberry. Each one better than the other. I highly recommend it. I'll gladly return.

28/07/2025: A must-visit for a good-humored, regular check-up. A wide selection of burgers (perhaps too many. Personally, I often struggle with which to choose and opt for something off-menu or the classic 666) with juicy meat that melts in your mouth, but there are also cutlet, chicken, and vegetarian burgers. And then the beers—I'll leave that to your imagination. The selection isn't huge, but they rotate constantly, so you always get to try something you're unlikely to find again, like that girl/boyfriend you kissed on vacation at 14 and will never see again, preserving a memory as idealized as Dante's Beatrice. I don't recommend waiting because you have to reserve otherwise you'll never find a seat.

24/05/2025: Dinner for two, the pizzas were really delicious, thicker dough than a Roman one but still crispy and very tasty. The place is very spartan, as are the seats. Recommended, especially for takeaway or just a quick bite and go.
