08/12/2025: We found it by chance, as all the restaurants in the center of Castelrotto were closed. It was around 1:30 PM, and when we called, they told us the kitchen was open until around 2 PM. As soon as we arrived, they welcomed us kindly, which wasn't exactly expected given the hour. We ate very well, both the dumplings in broth and the excellent venison goulash. The restaurant is five minutes from the center (you need to take the car), but definitely recommended for a quiet stay and good food.

04/07/2025: We were driving home from Tuscany to Germany and, on a whim, chose a pizzeria near the highway. The pizzas were delicious, the salad was large. The chili oil served was nice and spicy. The price/performance ratio, just like the restaurant name, was really good.

01/11/2025: A very friendly welcome from the owners. The hotel is located in a quiet area, about a ten-minute walk from the bus stop. Our room was recently renovated, practical and tastefully furnished with many useful details such as ample hooks, luggage space, and storage. From the south-facing balcony, we had a beautiful view of Merano. The breakfast was extensive and fresh. Dinner was excellent, with a choice of two starters and two main courses, and a varied salad bar. The senior chef also provided helpful hiking tips. Several hikes can be started directly from the hotel, and several cable cars are easily accessible by hiking bus. We highly recommend this hotel!

31/10/2025: The spacious panoramic room on the second floor has a south-facing balcony with a very nice view. The bathroom is traditional; only the rooms and bathrooms on the first floor have been renovated. The beds are decent, but the walls are thin. A kettle and a comfortable seating area would be welcome additions. When temperatures dropped from 15 to 5 degrees Celsius, the heating was rationed and only switched on for a few hours each day. My very elderly parents were provided with an electric heater in their ground-floor room because the room got very cold. Why not leave the heating on when temperatures are in the single digits and trust hotel guests to regulate it themselves? Getting a table with natural light in the restaurant is a matter of luck. Our table was at the back of the room and completely dark. Our request for a table in a brighter area was denied. Even when some guests checked out and a table for four near the windows became available, we were not offered it. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the excellent dinner; the chef is outstanding. Unfortunately, we could only eat the appealing but not exceptional breakfast with the lights on. In bad and cold weather, there is nowhere to sit except in the hotel room. Our request to sit in the dining room as a family during the day, for example, to play a board game, was denied. The reason given was that the tables are set for dinner after breakfast. Perhaps it was also because they didn't want to turn on the lights and heating. We regularly went to a wonderful hotel nearby for coffee and games, where we were warmly invited to use the lovely lobby. At Hotel Stefanie, as the owner, Ms. Geier, explained to us, guests are out between breakfast and dinner for excursions or hikes. If you are accompanying family members who are 80 and 85 years old and no longer very mobile, this presents a significant challenge. You'll probably have better luck when the weather is warm and you can enjoy the rather pleasant outdoor area. The very hardworking and friendly ladies from housekeeping deserve high praise.

22/11/2025: I often stop by for coffee or an aperitif, and I must say the evening staff are always friendly and helpful. An added bonus to this place, which, despite being out of the way for me, is worth the detour. A well-kept place with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea, worth trying.

05/12/2025: A family-friendly atmosphere with all the benefits of impeccable organization: squaring the circle. A very refined atmosphere without that intimidating exclusivity. Everything is spotless, well-organized, and the staff is attentive and friendly; it's hard to find fault. To find fault: the bathroom lacks a bidet (as is often the case in these parts), despite many years of honorable service, but perfectly clean and efficient. The pool and sauna are remarkable. The breakfast... simply fantastic. If we ever return to this area, this will definitely be the first place we'll consider.

25/11/2025: I stayed at this hotel for two nights for work. The rooms were large, comfortable, and very clean. Parking was free, and the pool and sauna were included in the price. The breakfast was amazing, and it's hard to beat it.

14/12/2025: There were four of us for dinner, and the experience was frankly unacceptable, especially considering the final bill. We ordered a large platter with cheeses (paid extra): The cold cuts were clearly supermarket-quality, bland, and devoid of any character. In a mountain tavern, that's something that shouldn't even leave the kitchen. Next, a €30 per person sliced ​​steak: A meager portion (about 200g), nothing special, and served half-cold. The side dishes were all cold: meaningless raw vegetables, cold unpeeled potatoes. A dish assembled, not cooked. We ate without sending anything back simply because we were very hungry, but it certainly wasn't what you'd expect at these prices. Drinks: a single bottle of water, nothing else. Final bill: €160. We left hungry and with the distinct feeling that we'd only paid for the location, not the quality. The quality/price ratio is completely wrong. The place thrives on tourism, not food. We won't be returning, and we won't recommend it to anyone.
