We arrived to find multiple empty tables available, and the first staff member was welcoming—she even gave us a menu and seemed ready to seat us. However, moments later, a woman who appeared to be the manager came to the door and abruptly told us there was no space available. This was especially frustrating because it was clearly not true, and even more so because I was with my elderly mother. The way we were turned away felt dismissive and unkind, with no real explanation or attempt to accommodate us. It’s unfortunate because first impressions matter, and this experience left us feeling unwelcome. I would not recommend a place that treats potential guests this way.

17/04/2026: We were quite disappointed with the food, especially as this was our first underwhelming dining experience in Italy. The dishes were nothing special and lacked the authentic flavors we expected. It feels like the restaurant is more tourist-oriented, which may explain the difference in quality and atmosphere. Unfortunately, it does not reflect the typical Italian charm, taste, and authenticity that you usually find. Overall, it may be convenient for a quick meal, but if you are looking for a genuine Italian culinary experience, this might not be the best choice. My dish looked good, but it was so greasy that I couldn’t finish it.

26/04/2026: Comfortable and well-spaced tables, I came to this restaurant by chance, we had a fried food, it was cooked well not greasy, perfect batter unfortunately the prawns were not tasty and the portion for 2 people is not abundant I would have liked the waiter to let us know when ordering, the dessert was very good, for the fried food I will not return but the first courses that I saw being brought were beautiful, if I have the chance to come to this restaurant again I will take other courses

07/04/2026: You're catapulted into an environment that's a mix between a ship and the Mad Hatter's house: inside the Viareggio pine forest, on Easter Monday we found a place in this restaurant that certainly doesn't go unnoticed for its colors, furnishings, and ambiance. We were welcomed by Mr. Amelio, an old-fashioned owner, who told us about his unique and exceptional cuisine. He uses only the catch of the day, and that makes all the difference. Excellent quality, and the owner is a joy to listen to. There are few places like this these days. We'll be back!!!!

18/03/2026: Every time we're in Viareggio, lunch at Buon Umore is a must. It's always a pleasure to encounter the extreme kindness of Amelio and his staff, combined with a never-ending professionalism. Here, the care for the raw materials is almost a mission: you eat authentic, local fish, cooked with a rare respect for the true flavor of the sea. It's certainly not a cheap place, but the excellent quality of the products and the originality of the dishes more than justify the expense. If you're looking for substance and the passion of those who truly know the sea, this is the place. A guarantee of authenticity that makes us return every time with a smile.

10/03/2026: Terrible, terrible, terrible!!!! We waited an hour for a first course, explaining that it was rush hour... maybe they're quicker at 5 pm? Not satisfied, they served us COLD spaghetti with clams and fried calamari and shrimp. The owner, completely indifferent to our dissatisfaction, managed to charge us 9 euros for half a glass of white wine... PLEASE DON'T GO THERE!

05/04/2026: A pizzeria/grill with some good options, but a few flaws: the Margherita pizza wasn't up to par, but the marinara was good, and the mixed grilled meats were all good except the beef, which was very tough. Fast and friendly service, simple but pleasant atmosphere. The price was fair.

05/02/2026: The highest quality! A truly historic restaurant in Viareggio: even by the sea, it's hard to find such fresh and well-cooked fish. The menu is varied; I've been several times and appreciate how short it is, but with just a few truly good dishes. Always friendly and genuine! The dishes are generous, not gourmet, and next time I'll take some photos. Highly recommended!

22/08/2025: Unfortunately, there aren't any more stars to award – otherwise, it would be at least 10 out of 5. The owners are friendly, explain everything in detail, and try to find a solution for all requests. Our Italian is unfortunately very rudimentary, but here, many things are explained non-verbally in English and with hand gestures. The attached restaurant is fast, has excellent food, and very friendly staff. The lifeguard is very attentive, friendly, and quickly provides information about the weather and dangerous areas. The beach itself is clean and beautiful, the facilities (sun loungers, umbrellas, etc.) are impeccable, and it's not directly in the center – which was the reason we chose it. A free parking lot completes the offer. We booked the spot online on a whim. Based on our experience on site, we decided to extend our stay as long as there was space available. Thank you for the wonderful time! Unfortunately, the weather is beyond our control, so we've made do with it.

22/03/2026: A REAL restaurant like it used to be, where you eat well and sit comfortably. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it. It's hard to find a better one around.
