The appetizers were excellent, the first courses unbalanced (gorgonzola was far too spicy and the Norcina-style sedanini lacked kick). 04/01/2026: We chose to come to this restaurant with high expectations, considering all the reviews online. I'm sorry these expectations weren't met. The place has its ups and downs. The ingredients are good, but the flavors are too often bland. Let's start with the highlights. The tartare with mustard mayonnaise was excellent, and the larded fillet with truffle was good (though you could taste it), although we might have expected a touch more tenderness from the meat. However, it was served (as is appropriate for such cuts) on hot plates to maintain the right tenderness. The meat is definitely the restaurant's heart. The wine selection is excellent, and the 375ml bottles are available, which don't hurt. Let's end here. The Chianti risotto with pistachio cream and pecorino fondue is definitely to be avoided. From a dish like this, you expect punch and flavor. When you taste it, you could taste the rice and little else. I didn't like it. Carrot flan accompanied by a parmesan fondue that was certainly delicate, to the point of being bland. Pappardelle with wild boar was neither good nor bad, with little kick: the bay leaves and juniper berries were missing (perhaps it's a Tuscan recipe, but whatever). Finally, two errors on the bill (let's say a bit high) that were certainly not a pleasant surprise (though the owners apologized). What can I say? Bad days happen, but I wouldn't go back.

28/12/2025: We went for one evening, and we'd already wanted to try this place on another visit to the area. Beautiful place, very welcoming and professional staff. We opted for a platter; the quality of the cured meats was good, and the cheeses were decent. We continued with pappardelle with wild boar ragù. Both the ragù and the pappardelle were good, but the pappardelle were a bit disconnected from the ragù. Our companions opted for a tomahawk steak and potatoes, spinach, and caponata as a side dish. The tomahawk steak was overcooked, woody, almost stringy. The side dishes, aside from the potatoes, needed a bit of a makeover: both the spinach (flavorless) and the caponata, unfortunately, were very flat. They have an excellent wine selection, including 375 cc bottles. We opted for an Antinori Chianti. We didn't opt ​​for dessert, and the waitress who served us was very kind, and when we pointed out the (over)cooked tomahawk steak, she offered us some bitters. Prices were average. Maybe, if we're in the area, we'll see it again because the place seems to have some (excellent) potential.

02/11/2025: I went there with friends for dinner on a Saturday; the place was crowded and noisy. Service was quite slow. The appetizer was good, though. The pizza, on the other hand, was almost inedible in my opinion! The dough is machine-rolled and is incredibly thin, with almost completely charred edges and a soft, undercooked center! I didn't drink the barley I ordered instead of coffee; it smelled disgusting. I'm sorry, but I didn't feel well.

18/10/2025: It is a unique experience to spend at least a night in this location. The room we stayed in was huge, clean and decorated with good taste, keeping the ancient atmosphere. It features a kitchenette in case of need. The infinity pool has breathtaking views and it's a perfect relaxation location. It's a pity though is not heated, but also understandable for the region, as not quite needed normally. Still, the 18 degrees water temperature in the late October days was a bit too challenging, still.

21/01/2026: A quaint restaurant with a truly top-notch meat menu. Personally, I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I prefer my Florentine steak rare and with a crust, but perhaps I'm too picky.

23/12/2025: This is an absolutely beautiful venue with delicious food and wine. We had a girl’s lunch here and it was so fun. The house of the Mona Lisa’s father is very special and totally worth a reservation. The service was fabulous and the space was beautiful with a modern flair.

17/12/2025: Fattoria di Vignamaggio is a beautiful, well-maintained place that's constantly evolving. They recently opened a lovely bar overlooking the outdoor area. I'd been there last summer and had lunch in the outdoor space overlooking the hills on a warm but breezy day, and it was great. So I returned to try the brunch, which they typically only offer one Saturday a month, so I recommend making a reservation. We arrived shortly after 11:00 a.m. without a reservation, trusting in the opening hours. After initial hesitation, they fortunately found us a table for two, which was also well-located. The dining room is very beautiful, tastefully decorated and bright, thanks to the large windows overlooking the surrounding countryside. The tables for two are on a slightly raised platform. The service is friendly, and the overall feeling was relaxing and pleasant. You can order à la carte, and the menu features typical Anglo-Saxon brunch dishes. It's also nice that the menu is available in the brunch section of the website and includes prices, so you can get an idea of ​​what to order even before you go. For my main course, I had the croque madame, which I enjoyed, and I appreciated the fact that it was lighter than I expected... 😊 If I really have to comment on the menu, in the dessert section, I would have liked to find an apple pie or a tart with cream and fruit, but there were no tarts or desserts with the classic cream, there was only the waffle with fruit and mascarpone cream (which I don't usually order). I settled for the pancake with fruit and honey, which is served topped with some berries and filled with berry jam. I understand that this is more in line with brunch tradition, but overall, I wasn't very convinced. My partner, on the other hand, had yogurt with fruit and Granola and she liked it. Overall, a place I plan to return to again and an experience I'd recommend.

26/11/2025: We loved this place! We enjoyed delicious prosciutto and a very good wine, and the interior is filled with hanging cured meats – such a unique atmosphere. It’s also a shop with lots of local products. A visit here is truly an experience in itself.

14/11/2025: Going to Solociccia is more of an experience than a traditional restaurant lunch, and this must be taken into account. Start with a welcome aperitif in Dario Cecchini's historic butcher shop, featuring crostini with lard and a glass of red wine. Then move on to the restaurants (Solociccia or Officina), which are an ode to conviviality. You don't reserve a table, but rather a seat. You'll be sitting with strangers, and this can be a pro or a con. The start time is the same for everyone, as it functions a bit like a reception or a "canteen." The Macellaio menu offers a wide selection of lesser-rated cuts of beef, which are much tastier, especially when well-cooked and using high-quality ingredients. It begins with a brisket baked in broth, followed by crostini with ragù, a tartare seared on one side accompanied by beans, panzanese steak (a cut between the loin and the thigh), boiled meats, and braised meats. All this to discover that you can eat everything from an animal ("You can eat everything from nose to tail"). It's all accompanied by an excellent red wine and, if desired, dipped vegetables. To finish, olive oil cake, coffee, and amaro. The experience costs €40 all-inclusive, and if you're lucky, you might even meet the legendary butcher. Very friendly staff and a perfect location for the experience, with the grill in full view where all the cuts are grilled. If you're a meat lover, or meat lover as they say here, this is an experience you must try. Highly recommended.
