29/10/2025: We had dinner at Da Maria in Giglio Castello — the food was good, fairly average overall, but the price felt a bit too high. For a group meal with one starter, one main course, and one dessert, it came to around €50 per person.
21/09/2025: I won't say how much I spent in total, because I've eaten that amount elsewhere and left satisfied with what I ate. Paying €40 for two risottos where you had to search for the rice grains hidden between a mussel, two shrimp, and four clams seems excessive to me. When you then realize the portion at the next table is larger, you feel cheated. Likewise, €30 for a fried dish that also included cheap vegetables and sardines, considered a low-cost fish, seems excessive. And finally, when I came to pay, I was told they even gave me a discount because they made me wait. I was even too kind to give it two stars.

10/11/2025: A spacious restaurant in Ponsacco on a side street. The atmosphere is beautiful and refined. The open grill is lovely in the middle of the dining room. The menu offers a wide selection of meat and fish. The meat is very good, tender and flavorful. The roast potatoes are also good, which is not always the case. I'd say the house wine is also excellent. The price is good value. I've been there for lunch before, but the atmosphere in the evening, when the restaurant is full, is something else entirely. Highly recommended.
10/11/2025: Returning from a Sunday outing, some friends and I stopped specifically for dinner at Ristorante Ariete, where I'd had lunch for the first time a couple of months earlier. The place is very large and spacious, which encourages conversation at the table: there were five of us, and no one had to raise their voices to be heard.
The menu offers both land and sea dishes: almost all of us opted for seafood first courses and fried fish to share. We also enjoyed dessert and coffee. Generous portions, excellent flavors, quick and courteous service, and a price that was reasonable for the amount of food we ate (and we were satisfied).
If I didn't recommend it, I'd be crazy...

26/08/2025: Delicious! We enjoyed creamed cod on black polenta with marinated onions, tagliatelle with octopus ragù, anchovies, and fried flowers with a spicy sauce that paired perfectly. The desserts were not only delicious but also beautiful.
Everything was cooked with care and attention, presented with meticulous attention, and enriched with a touch of creativity that surprises without ever being overwhelming.
A special mention for the hospitality of the owner and chef: with his smile and kindness, he immediately makes you feel at home in his restaurant.
(The photos are just of the desserts... I got distracted eating without wasting time 😅).
Bravo, Hiron! 👏 We'll definitely be back.

03/10/2025: The welcome was greatly appreciated, greetings arrived with the surname.
Flexibility in choosing a table, water and bread served immediately, the microfiltered water and breadsticks served with bread were particularly appreciated.
The menu and wine list were well-presented, with impressive paper in a leather cover.
The only flaw was a stained first page of the wine list.
The prices were average for both, the menu was well-crafted and easy to read, with personality.
I would have appreciated an introduction to the menu, which was missing, but I appreciated the presence of two special dishes of the day.
The explanations of the dishes were fairly thorough.
The wine by the glass was a sore point, rather tired.
The peppered mussels were very good, the only flaw was an uncleaned mussel left on the edge of the plate, which the waiter, however, ignored.
For the second course (tuna tartare), I found the ponzu sauce particularly overpowering, as it was meant to cover the excellent quality tuna.
I would suggest turning it into a reduction and adding a refreshing element (perhaps a few verbena leaves).
The sorbet was excellent, nothing to complain about.
Aside from a few inaccuracies, such as the food check after each course but not the wine, the service was courteous, dynamic, and never intrusive, and was highly appreciated.
There's no reason to complain about the location, which is particularly suitable for multiple visits.
See you soon; don't be afraid to indulge in this treat.

21/10/2025: One early autumn evening, I visited this restaurant, located in Marciana Alta, with a lovely view. I quite enjoyed it, and ordered a seafood appetizer—perhaps a little pricey, but good. And a basic fried fish.
04/10/2025: Nice restaurant with a nice view and friendly service.
However, I find €80 per kilo for the catch of the day to be exorbitant when it's mistakenly served with its tag still on (including a large hooked fish on its head with a description in Greek and English indicating that it's a Greek farmed product).
When I ordered the catch of the day, the waiter confirmed that he had 800 grams of sea bream and asked if that would be okay, which I agreed.
I'm sorry, but we all know the cost of Greek fish. I want to believe the chef's version of events, which tells me that they prefer Greek products from the simpler supply chain on the island to local ones.
But even if it's good quality, I don't think it costs €80 per kilo.
The chef was understanding and gave me an €8 discount, making this dish cost €52 instead of €60.
To avoid misunderstandings when the price per kg/100g is indicated, I would recommend also indicating the origin of the raw material, for the sake of fairness towards the customer.

30/07/2025: A terrible evening (unfortunately, in almost every way).
Three friends and I booked dinner at this restaurant in Cecina, known for its renowned pinsa al metro.
Before moving on to the many negatives, I can confirm that the product is high-quality, digestible, and very good.
However... the "buts" are too many, too serious, and they'll make me never return.
First, when booking, I made sure to ask if there was air conditioning, and to my great disappointment, I found the place rather stuffy (light air conditioning, almost nonexistent).
That said, they seat us, and the waitress shows up to take our order only 15 minutes later (imagine 15 minutes in 35°C weather without even a glass of water).
We order a total of 3.5 meters of pinsa, of which 1 meter is reserved exclusively for one of the lactose-intolerant diners. I make sure to ask that he arrive at the same time (or before) the first pizzas, as otherwise he wouldn't have been able to "taste" a slice of ours.
Of course, his pizza arrives, not only 45 minutes after the others, but one side of it has mozzarella.
That should be enough, right?
And instead, the beer (14 euros for Menabrea) is presented in a very sad carafe and clearly and heavily watered down: undrinkable.
Finally, when it was time for coffee, the waitress decided to bring not 4 (as requested), but only 1. The other 3 arrived only after another 10 minutes.
Overall result:
2 hours of dinner in unbearably hot weather
1 diner hungry, or almost
30 euros per person, without even the courtesy of removing the portion of pizza the lactose-intolerant customer hadn't touched.
Never, never, never again (despite the pinsa, alas, excellent).
13/07/2025: Serata terribile (purtroppo, sotto tutti i punti di vista o quasi)
Io ed altri tre amici prenotiamo per cena in questo locale di Cecina noto per la sua rinomata pinsa al metro.
Prima di passare alle molteplici note dolenti, confermo che il prodotto sia di alta qualità, digeribile e molto buono.
Però... i però sono troppi, troppo gravi e mi spingono a non tornarvi più.
In primo luogo, al momento della prenotazione mi sono premurato di chiedere se vi fosse l'aria condizionata e, con mia somma delusione, ho trovato un locale piuttosto afoso (aria condizionata leggera quasi inesistente).
Ciò detto, ci fanno accomodare e la cameriera si presenta a prendere l'ordine solo dopo 15' (immaginate 15' con 35° senza nemmeno un bicchiere d'acqua)
Ordiniamo, complessivamente 3 mt e mezzo di pinsa, di cui 1 destinato esclusivamente ad uno solo dei commensali intollerante al lattosio, alché mi premuro di chiedere che quest'ultimo giunga contemporaneamente (ovvero antecedentemente) alle prime pizze in uscita, in quanto, in difetto, egli non avrebbe potuto 'assaggiare' una fetta delle nostre.
Ovviamente, la sua pizza giunge, non solo dopo 45' dall'arrivo delle altre, ma una parte della stessa presenta della mozzarella.
Basterebbe questo, no?
E, invece, la birra (14 euro di menabrea) viene presentata in una tristissima caraffa e palesemente e pesantemente annacquata: imbevibile.
Infine, al momento del caffè, la cameriera decide apoditticamente di portarne non già 4 (come richiesto), bensì solo 1. Gli altri 3 arriveranno solo dopo ulteriori 10'.
Risultato complessivo:
2 ore di cena con un'afa insopportabile
1 commensale digiuno o quasi
30 euro a persona senza nemmeno la cortesia di espungere la parte di pizza nemmeno toccata dal cliente intollerante al lattosio.
Mai, mai, mai più (nonostante la pinsa, ahimè, eccellente)

05/10/2025: We received 8 hamburger sandwiches + 1 salmon (wrong, I never ordered a fish sandwich) ALL COMPLETELY RAW, NOT rare! Since we all eat meat, even tartare or rare. It was absolutely raw. After calling the restaurant to inform them of what happened, Ms. Jessica took the liberty of completely contradicting the 8 customers, without even raising the slightest doubt about the possibility of incorrect cooking. Moreover, these were customers who had already been to the restaurant and found it good. But, after the employee's unprofessional and unsympathetic behavior, I think there is a risk of losing customers, and it's truly a shame. You should reprimand the lady because you don't react to the public by responding rudely, raising your voice on the phone, questioning the customer without proof and with arrogance. Especially after an order of over €90. I feel very sorry for the restaurant.
