Decent food. A purely touristy place!

This renowned sandwich shop in Polignano has some truly delicious sandwiches worth trying. I was disappointed by the octopus one; I expected it to be fresher. The shrimp one was truly delicious, and at this point I'm wondering if the freshest ones are the salmon and tuna tartare ones. A must-try when visiting Polignano for something different.

I find this place a true gem! Fresh, well-prepared products with a variety of flavors to suit all tastes and seafood lovers. If you want something different and delicious with a good glass of wine 🍷, I recommend this place ♥️

The octopus and tartare sandwiches were okay, the cod was one star, and the tartare was a great dish.

This place has quite a strange way of functioning. You queue up for at least 30 minutes to place your order, and then hope to snag a table. Instead of giving you a marker for your order number to place on the table, they just give it on the receipt, meaning the poor waiters have to wander around the restaurant with trays of food calling out order numbers hoping someone will answer. This seems such a stupid and dysfunctional way of running things. Imagine how easy it would be if there were table numbers on a stick, and the waiters could just find the table and hand you your food. Great idea right? Once you finally get your food, it’s pretty mediocre. The sashimi is sliced all over the place, some pieces thin and some pieces thick. The grilled octopus was a pretty small portion. The fried seafood and crustacean meatballs were good. Additionally, there’s no real cutlery, just plastic cutlery that’s too weak to cut anything, it just breaks. You don’t get the privilege of getting a plate either, everything is served in cardboard boxes. It all just doesn’t make any sense at all. One thing I liked about this place, is that they offered lactase tablets for those who are lactose intolerant. I thought that was pretty thoughtful and unique. Additionally, you can swap out lactose for lactose free options, and they have gluten free options too. It’s not worth queuing up for.

I tried the fried octopus sandwich and was absolutely thrilled. The bread was fragrant and crispy, the octopus was perfectly fried, and the ingredients were fresh, plentiful, and top-quality. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the overall taste was simply excellent. The location is also fantastic, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it and would happily return!

The notorious octopus sandwich is a must for everyone who enjoys seafood, and doesn't want to spend much time in extensive lunches but prefers to grab and go something really delicious on the way to explore. The atmosphere comes overcrowded shortly after opening time.
