29/04/2026: The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Busiate Alla Norma; if you like eggplant, you absolutely have to try it. The food arrived quickly, and the service was very friendly, chatty, and even fun. The music was a little too loud for me at a few moments. But all in all, it was fantastic, and I'd gladly come back.

Here you'll find exceptional dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and enhanced by the expert hand of the chef, who transforms Sicilian tradition into unforgettable dining experiences. The service staff is impeccable: kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism make every customer feel special.

And well-prepared, the food is very good, but the portions of pasta and couscous are decidedly inadequate.
I understand, though I don't accept, the high prices—we're still in a high-traffic tourist area—but semolina and pasta are still cheap, so why skimp on portions?
That's a shame, but everything else was very good.

11/04/2026: Too bad you can't give less than one star, otherwise I would have. We went to eat the "famous" couscous with fish. A total disappointment. They brought us a huge plate but with a small central base, so if you wanted to fill up on couscous, it was just an illusion. There was a bit of fish on top of this couscous that wasn't even separated well but all mushy, a bit of concentrated fish broth on the side to moisten the heart of the couscous. I expected much better, to tell the truth, the fish on top was mackerel for me and inside the couscous no other type of seafood. My stomach and palate refused to eat the rest after a couple of forkfuls, so I left it there, also because after asking the owner what fish was in it and having listed sea bream, grouper, scorpionfish, and the best fish, he told me that they make the broth with fish "carcasses"! According to this, I left half the portion inedible! A total disappointment and not at all cheap! A bottle of water and half a glass of wine cost a whopping €36! When I got home, I ate it again because I was hungry! Think about it! Before paying a fortune and eating badly, enjoy a cheap and much better street food pie! A waste of money.
09/04/2026: I had dinner at this restaurant with friends who recommended it to me, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Elegant, sophisticated dishes with rich seafood flavors. Their couscous with broth is a must-try: exceptional 😍 The trio of appetizers is also excellent. Compliments to the owners.

13/04/2026: In Erice, you simply have to let yourself wander. One cobbled alley leads to another, the stones whisper tales of centuries past, and suddenly, around the corner of an ancient archway, the Ristorante Monte San Giuliano appears. The arrival feels almost staged, as if the place seamlessly blends into the village, without a break in the flow.
Inside, the decor reinforces this impression of authenticity. Old photographs, hanging tools, exposed beams. A raw, sincere Sicily, not trying to seduce, but simply to be. And yet, a slight dissonance is palpable. The overall effect, while pleasant and deeply rooted in local aesthetics, evokes a traditional osteria more than a ristorante in the most demanding sense of the term. The setting is just right, but it doesn't quite live up to the implicit promise of that designation. On the other hand, the service and presentation are excellent and restore the expected balance.
The menu is short and unpretentious, which is often a good sign. However, it lacks explanations, especially for dishes that are typically Sicilian. The uninitiated traveler navigates by guesswork, which can be charming… or risky.
We chose the Polpette San Giuliano, a local specialty closely linked to the history of Erice, formerly Monte San Giuliano. The breaded crust was well-executed, golden brown, but the interior, left a mystery due to the lack of explanation, proved disappointing. The filling was undercooked, leaving an unsettling sensation of barely seared meat. The sauce, which could have elevated the dish, was cold, almost bland, accompanied by mushrooms that were clearly canned, lacking texture and depth. In such a bountiful region, this choice is surprising. This dish, steeped in history and symbolism, deserved impeccable execution.
The pasta partially redeemed the experience. The Paccheri with Sicilian sausage, lightly flavored with anise, accompanied by eggplant and tomato, were well-balanced and pleasant, but lacked the intensity that leaves a lasting impression. The Busiate, a regional specialty, suffered from being overcooked, losing in texture what they should have offered in character. Again, the dish was good, but remained superficial.
Finally, one detail breaks the immersion: the music. Too generic, too contemporary. It acts as background noise disconnected from the place, as if another era had intruded uninvited. In a village seemingly suspended outside of time, this creates a slight jarring note.
Monte San Giuliano is a genuine establishment, enhanced by an authentic setting and service befitting its status. But the food itself is inconsistent. It's not without merit, but it doesn't always fully embody the history and richness it purports to represent. And in a place like Erice, where everything seems full of meaning, this is immediately felt.
22/03/2026: It’s not obvious from the street to find it, just the name on a brown door. Inside it’s inviting, and comfortable. Our server was attentive, and very helpful on a cold drizzly day. The Sicilian dishes we ate were delicious!

22/04/2026: We visited Tenute Plaia in Scopello a few nights ago, but it was still a bit chilly, so we chose to eat inside. The setting was elegant and the atmosphere welcoming.
Before dinner, we enjoyed an aperitif on the terrace, with a truly beautiful view of the sea, very relaxing.
Their wines are also excellent, and worth trying.
A positive experience, we'll gladly return, perhaps with a few warmer temperatures to dine outside.
18/04/2026: From the service and Michelin-star-worthy cuisine to the house wine and ambiance (terrace with lake view), everything was perfect. The amuse-bouche was a true feast for the eyes and taste buds.
We had Misto Trinarcia as a starter (a must-try!), followed by Bustate Pesto and the daily special, Spaghettone Carciofo Fritti Con Gambero Rosso e Promodoro Secco, as our main courses. To top it all off, we had Parfait di Aldorle and Cassata Siciliana for dessert.
Everything was outstanding! Highly recommended!

11/10/2025: Recommended by a friend, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There was little attention paid to the table, and the two entrees we ordered had too much lemon juice, which overpowered the flavors of the fish. The consistency was also too soupy. We left almost everything and didn't order anything else, but I don't rule out the possibility that it was just our taste buds. The bill didn't take anything into account. It was also expensive.
07/10/2025: If you want to taste salt in your mouth, then go for it without hesitation. 2 possibilities: nothing is homemade and they add broths everywhere, where the cook doesn't taste his dishes and he should rethink his cooking. In any case, for the price-quality ratio, move on.

19/01/2026: A fantastic find at this restaurant in Paceco, a town near Trapani that's worth a visit for its sheer beauty. We ordered sardine meatballs, pasta with Trapani pesto, and truffled beef. The local wine recommended by the waitress was excellent. I highly recommend a visit.
