15/08/2024: We had a random experience with this little restaurant. Everything was perfect! I enjoyed an incredibly good grilled sea bream and my partner will say the same thing about his steak. The welcome was warm, the dessert was also delicious. The prices are completely affordable, €62 for a sea bream, a steak, a glass of white wine, 2 tiramisus at €5 each, 2 coffees and a bottle of water. Our only regret is changing cities the same day and not being able to return! Speaks French, Mrs is in the kitchen and Mr is serving. Absolutely don’t hesitate to go there!

09/08/2024: What a great place! The owners are delightful; talented chefs, knowledgeable locals and passionate about local quality food. We had a delicious meal, specialising in seafood, the whole baked sea bass was outstanding. Would give them 10/5 if only google would let us.

27/08/2024: Excellent experience. We were welcomed by Alessia who guided us in choosing the food and wine. The mixed starter and the two first courses we took were excellent. I particularly appreciated the swordfish roll and the pasta with scorpion fish. The wine, Cataratto dell'Etna, is also excellent. We will return on our next visit to Ortigia. Well done!!!

22/08/2024: Atmosphere: Almost perfect dining experience but for 2 things. We can walked in on an August evening without reservation and were accommodated by the owner/maitre de. This is a small family owned and run restaurant. Husband manages the front and wife is the chef. Food: This restaurant serves FRESH seafood if that’s what you’re craving for in Ortigia. We ordered the mixed appetizer and it was amazing. 10/10! For main course, we had vegetarian pasta (not on the menu) and whole Red Snapper prepared Sicilian style (steamed w capers, olives and tomatoes). This dish was 8/10 only because the fish was not properly descaled. Taste and presentation were great. Service: 8/10 Our server wasn’t attentive beyond dropping off the food. The owner came once to check on us after the appetizer was served. I had to get up and ask for some salt and pepper. Price: Bit on the high side. €48 for the whole snapper. Our total tab with 3 dishes, water and a glass of of wine was €100.

14/11/2024: Adoro l'atmosfera di Retroscena! L'arredamento è elegante e l'atmosfera è molto accogliente. È un ottimo posto per rilassarsi e godersi un pasto. Qualità top. Ritornerò sicuramente

11/11/2024: Atmosfera intima e rilassante, il ristorante Retroscena è ideale per una cena tra amici, in famiglia o per un appuntamento galante. Kiri è un’ottima padrona di casa, sorridente e accogliente, sapeá farti sentire subito coccolata e a tuo agio, insieme a Chef Fabio sapranno regalarti un esperienza unica. I piatti sono davvero iconici, ricercati e le porzioni sono davvero abbondanti. Per chi si trova a Siracusa, consiglio vivamente di trascorrere almeno una sera in questo ristorante!

14/11/2024: Fresh, tasty and professionally cooked fish (compliments to the Chef). A must are the fish balls! Furthermore, if you, foreigners, are going for the first time, I recommend having a generous appetizer round (about 6-7 dishes for two) to enjoy the delicacy of each course. From raw to fried.... the best fish in Syracuse. Impeccable service.

18/08/2024: The first impact was more than positive, it's a shame that the evening was ruined by an unserious and unprofessional gesture. The tuna is definitely worth reviewing (overcooked and the onion covers the flavour) and the seafood appetizer rich in fried foods and with few fresh tastings, which after a while becomes heavy.
