Autedo

La spezia
03/01/2026: We were a group of six and had a wonderful meal, with an outdoor setting perfect for this season. I gave it 5 stars because there were no others. The best spaghetti with clams on the coast.

Ristorante Acquapazza

Santo stefano di magra
24/05/2026: After some time, I've found the same high quality of raw ingredients expertly transformed into dishes that are thoroughly satisfying. It seems banal and predictable, but it isn't. The fewer steps, the more exciting the product that arrives on the table. A tasting journey that always maintains high expectations and results. Congratulations.
27/01/2026: Never disappointed, they "know how to cook" and welcome, shame about the annoying lighting and the noise but the quality of what you eat is guaranteed

Ristorante Al Carugio

Monterosso al mare
16/06/2026: As a family with celiac, we were excited about this location. It was downhill from there. While the appetizers of mozzarella and tomatoes along with the fried zucchini were pretty good, the main courses were awful. My daughter got the pesto pasta and said it was the worst meal she has had in our entire two weeks in Europe so far. She just described it as simply terrible. I got the fish and chips (not GF) and they looked like they had come straight out of a freezer bag. They were the perfect wedge shaped pieces. They were a local fish and it was very fishy. I have had fish and chips all over the UK and many other countries and this was by far the worst tasting. If you come here, at least don’t get these two main course options. We got tiramisu for dessert (as we have almost daily our entire trip rotating between tiramisu and gelato) and while this was middle of the road, it was nothing to write home about and I would rate as just decent. (While decent, all other tiramisu we have tried has been better) If you are gluten free / celiac then you can get safe food to eat here, but just don’t expect it to necessarily taste good. If you can find somewhere else then I would take that option.
12/06/2026: Nice restaurant on a small side street in the old town. Tagliatelle and fish was excellent, ravioli were good not great.

Pizza Aquarium

La spezia
27/05/2026: The only negative was the lack of air conditioning or fans....
27/05/2026: One of my favorite places in La Spezia, with the best farinata of all. They also serve excellent pizza and other dishes. The staff is incredibly friendly and can adapt dishes to meet your dietary needs (vegan, gluten intolerance) upon request.

Veciu Muin

Riomaggiore
13/07/2026: Excellent food. Very friendly staff. We ordered pasta and it was delicious; they even let us order troffi alla carbonara even though it wasn't on the menu.
12/07/2026: Professional and efficient server. The pizza dough was very good, but the rest was disappointing: the toppings were a bit bland and the portions were small considering the prices.

Ristorante Miramare

Portovenere
13/05/2026: I went to Miramare tonight (recommended by a friend) and the waiters were very kind, they explained each course to us, for me it's top, we'll gladly go back 🔥🫶🏽
10/05/2026: We came for lunch today without a reservation (although I think it's preferable in high season). We ordered two tasting menus. The service was efficient, the staff pleasant, the setting lovely, and we ate very well. I recommend it.

Palmaria Restaurant Portovenere

Portovenere
13/06/2026: Update: the manager pulled me aside for a chat. It was strange but at least showed he very much cared. I’ve updated my rating as such, but maintain that you are paying essentially double what you might elsewhere, for the view. If you’re happy to do that, you’ll be happy here. Beyond the genuinely stunning views, this place is really nothing special. The rooms are very basic, but they’re charging a premium price for what’s outside the window. The maid and cleaning service is great (but be warned laundry is very expensive though that’s not uncommon). It’s all just adequate. Not really any particularly special amenities. Not carefully designed (at least compared to many other hotels I’ve stayed at in the country). Very spotty WiFi which I thought was just the area but the public WiFi worked better in Monterosso. The parking was a nightmare and they do not provide useful instructions for finding it. If this was a $300-$400 a night hotel, it would be perfect; but it’s a $700-$800 a night hotel and is thus in my opinion, overpriced. If you plan on exploring the area, you can get the same views for free (or even for dinner) and skip the hefty price tag. Regarding staying in Portovenere. It’s beautiful, obviously. Stunning. As are the other 5 cities and at least 2 have a bit more going on and a lot more convenience. Portovenere is near impossible to get to after 9pm (for the price, it would be ideal if the hotel would offer some sort of shuttle service even for an extra cost). It’s clearly a perfect city for weekenders looking to escape most of the tourism (though a surprising amount still exists here). But maybe not for first-timers to the area looking to explore. Overall, fine hotel, but it just isn’t bringing the value it requests.
07/06/2026: We spent two days in Portovenere and on Sunday we needed luggage storage: the only service in town wasn't available. We asked the Grand Hotel for a favor—aware that it doesn't officially offer storage—simply because, with two backpacks, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the day at the beach. After several initial refusals, we managed to convince the staff that they would hold our bags for a few hours. At that point, however, the response was: "Okay, we'll do it for you, but only if you leave us 50 euros." This request, we consider excessive for a temporary and unscheduled favor, was striking. Besides the disproportionate price, we were struck by the total lack of courtesy: we would have expected at least a helpful and understanding attitude toward two tourists who simply wanted a morning on the beach.

La Darsena ristorante

Sarzana
17/07/2026: Everything was delicious! From the appetizers to the main courses! But a special shout-out goes to the guy who made his coffee with tattoos! I'll be back soon.
27/06/2026: La Darsena, in Sarzana, was a pleasant discovery: solid, flavorful, yet meticulously prepared seafood. I ordered scialatielli with mussels and roasted octopus on creamed potatoes: fresh fish, flavorful dishes, that distinct sensation of "feeling the sea." The ravioli with pesto and calamari chosen by my companion were also very successful: a truly surprising dish, balanced and intense. The girls ordered two thin-crust pizzas, with excellent dough and flavorful, non-standard toppings. In the glass, a Cinque Terre DOC 2022 from Terenzuola: straw yellow, a fine, marine profile, with notes of citrus, yellow fruit, Mediterranean herbs, and a lovely savory edge. On the palate, it's fresh, vertical, and mineral, perfect for accompanying fish dishes without overpowering them. Overall, a dinner that demonstrated a high level of quality, both in the quality of the ingredients and in the preparation. A special mention also goes to the staff: kind, attentive, and discreet. A decidedly positive experience.

Ristorante Pizzeria I Mitili

La spezia
25/03/2026: I took two guests for a mussel lunch, but their expectations were completely dashed. The spaghetti with mussels was disjointed: a simple garlic and oil pasta with shells on top, lacking any consistency or seafood flavor. The stuffed mussels, however, were unbalanced: the flavor of the mortadella and stale bread completely overpowered that of the molluscs. The icing on the cake was the owner's lack of professionalism, who even dared to comment on a stain on the tablecloth. The price was decidedly excessive for the quality. Highly not recommended.
18/03/2026: Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was decidedly negative. The staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming, creating an unpleasant atmosphere right from the start. As for the food, the mussels were truly disappointing: very small and with an unpleasant odor that left one wondering about their freshness. The overall quality wasn't up to expectations, and one suspects they might have been cheaply sourced, perhaps even from abroad. Overall, an experience I wouldn't recommend and am unlikely to repeat.

Ristorante 'Paolino'

Lerici
01/05/2026: We chose this restaurant primarily because it's billed as a go-to place for gluten-free options. My partner is celiac, so it wasn't just a touristy detail, but a genuine dietary necessity. The meal started out well on paper: simple dishes, pasta listed as gluten-free, and a setting that promised a good experience. Unfortunately, the whole thing quickly lost its charm. The welcome was cold, the service rather clumsy, and the waiter ended up creating a frankly uncomfortable atmosphere during the meal, without us really understanding why. The most surprising thing was the dessert. For a restaurant that emphasizes gluten-free so much, finding out there were no gluten-free desserts available was quite surprising. The answer was firm: there would be no other option. For a place that's supposed to specialize in this area, it's a bit like going to an ice cream shop that's sold out. Another unpleasant point: the bill. When it came time to pay, the bill was presented to us in a rather sketchy manner, with the prices handwritten and a quick sum added up in front of us, arriving at a total announced as €71. However, considering the prices displayed and what we had consumed—two bottles of water for €3, a bottle of wine for €12, two dishes for €10 and €12, a rum baba for €7, and a limoncello—this amount seemed difficult to comprehend. Even including the limoncello, the difference is still striking. The general atmosphere was also quite peculiar: a child was watching videos, running around the dining room, and apparently entering the kitchen, without seeming to disturb anyone. This gave the impression of eating in a makeshift place rather than in a restaurant attentive to its customers. In the end, we had the feeling that tourists were greeted with more enthusiasm at checkout than during service. A real disappointment, especially for a place that claims to specialize in gluten-free products. We will not return and we do not recommend this restaurant, especially to celiacs looking for a truly reassuring experience.
12/04/2026: From the photos, the portions looked generous. We ordered a mixed grill of fish, but unfortunately we were only served three prawns (not particularly tasty) and a small piece of fish. In my opinion, and based on my experience at other restaurants, a mixed grill shouldn't be presented like this. The second course, fish all'isolana, was also truly poor: very little fish, soaked in too much oil, so much so that I couldn't eat the potatoes, and accompanied by a very small portion of grilled vegetables. All for a total of 62 euros. We left the restaurant still hungry and had to eat elsewhere. Highly not recommended. A disappointment!!!!!!!!!!

L'osteria

La spezia
02/06/2026: Welcoming atmosphere. The atmosphere is like a tavern, so it's convivial and relaxed. Feedback: The food is all very tasty and the portions are adequate. The menu is varied, with seafood and meat options to please all palates. The desserts are amazing. I highly recommend sitting down and sampling their cuisine.
04/05/2026: Home cooking always well-executed, in a casual and very welcoming atmosphere. Excellent for a Sunday family lunch, an evening downtown, or a business meeting. Pasta with mussels alla Spezzina is always top-notch!

Antica Trattoria L. Sevieri

La spezia
20/06/2026: We sat down, just the two of us, but after looking at the menu, we weren't satisfied. So we politely informed the woman that we preferred to leave. She charged us for the bottle of water she had just opened, which I find perfectly normal and understandable. However, she demanded that we pay for the cutlery, even though we hadn't touched anything or ordered any food! Charging for cutlery under these circumstances is simply unacceptable. In the end, we had to pay €11 in total to leave without having eaten. A very disappointing practice and a blatant lack of business sense.
25/05/2026: The wine list is excellent, but the servers are clearly bothered when you ask for something, even just the menu. A smile and helpfulness also count; we'll go elsewhere next time.
