04/05/2026: We're talking about a truly top-notch culinary experience in a splendid and romantic setting, near the sea in Riomaggiore, right in the old town. I'm from La Spezia, and unfortunately I rarely get to the Cinque Terre, but when I do, Dau Cila is a must. Here, the seafood flavors are still authentic, the menu is truly traditional, and the service is quick, impeccable, always ready to satisfy everyone's needs.

27/04/2026: I had booked via WhatsApp a week before specifying that one person could not eat foods containing onion. We go to the restaurant and the waitress asks us if we have any intolerances and then we reiterate the onion intolerance of one of our diners. Lunch begins, everything is fine, everything is good, fortunately there is no onion even where there could have been due to an oversight so the lunch proceeds calmly... until the fried calamari arrives (a dish where I have never seen onion inside) full of onions. Luckily the intolerant person noticed immediately, I pointed out to the waitress that there was onion. Moral of the story: no one apologized and when it came to the bill we did not receive any discount. I would have given more stars but this was a major inconvenience. Too bad

05/04/2026: Unfortunately, our family Easter experience was terrible. We trusted the positive reviews, as it was one of the few places with availability, but the reality was quite different. The appetizer mix was of poor quality: the salmon was so marinated it was suspect, clearly to mask the flavor. The first courses? Pasta not al dente, but literally raw (and with the impression of being precooked), dominated by an excessive flavor of grated lemon to hide the lack of seasoning. The fried food was ridiculously small: only one dish for every three people. The final blow was the swordfish: frozen, poorly defrosted, and with an abominable flavor, "covered" by abundant tomato sauce. To top it off, the Colomba cake was inedible: dry, stale, and clearly not fresh. I wonder who writes positive reviews, because they're completely untrue. The only positive note was the kindness of the waitresses, but the food deserves a red flag.

29/04/2026: I wonder how you guys manage to get a decent number of good reviews. I went for lunch with two other people. All three dishes arrived cold, but the worst thing was the rudeness of the staff. The red-haired lady was particularly unpleasant and clearly didn't want to. It's a self-service restaurant, so I expect to carry the dishes to the table myself. Unfortunately, the trays were empty, and a man coming out of the kitchen asked his red-haired colleague to help us carry these dishes. She began by saying, "They can take care of themselves," in an annoyed tone. How come you did that? It was a simple courtesy requested by her colleague, after all. Working in restaurants isn't for you if you don't pay attention to the customers, even when (as in this case) it's not due. The girl at the cash register was embarrassed for her, and it showed. So much so that she served us the dishes... I'll add: I don't understand why in 2026 they don't accept separate bills. I'll add again: we tried asking for a piece of focaccia. The classic Ligurian focaccia that I think we all know as a typical dish. The same lady replied with wide eyes, as if I'd asked for something alien, that they didn't know what it was. But was everything okay? Overall, we enjoyed a lunch with a beautiful view, but I wouldn't return given the high price (considering the quantity/quality of the food, and the fact that it's self-service) and the lack of politeness.

10/11/2025: I returned to this restaurant for dinner last night, as always, when I treat myself to excellent fresh fish at reasonable prices; and as always, I was not disappointed. Each time I choose different dishes, so I can try them all. This time, my friends and I had as appetizers: The very fresh and tender octopus with potatoes, and a mixed seafood antipasto (a fascinating dish from this restaurant that I highly recommend), followed by spaghetti alla brezza marinara for the first course, stuffed squid for the second course, and finally, chocolate soufflé for dessert. Everything was truly delicious!

07/05/2026: I've always been coming to this restaurant, but I'll never set foot in there again. Today, when we asked to sit at a sunny table because an elderly person was feeling the cold in the shade (I should point out that he himself had given us the option of sunny and cold tables), a graying, blue-eyed man responded by shouting and gesticulating rudely in the middle of the restaurant. Goodbye.

18/04/2026: Drawn by the many positive reviews on TheFork, we decided to make a reservation to celebrate a graduation at the end of February. The owner, calling shortly after the reservation, kindly and courteously told us about the "private room" reserved for us. We arrived fifteen minutes early (our reservation was for 7:30 PM), and were greeted at the door by a lady who invited us to return later, as neither the chef nor the owner were there yet (it would be interesting to know when, and if, they were cooking). Upon our return, the owner himself showed us into the wonderful "private room": a space under the stairs that had been reclaimed from brooms, probably unusable, with exposed brickwork and rusty grappling hooks (so much for HACCP...), which could easily injure an inattentive diner. I won't comment too much on the food, since when we ordered, we discovered that several dishes on the menu weren't even available, either because, according to the owner, "they took two hours to prepare," or the ingredients hadn't been delivered that day (which is still excusable). After settling for a fish starter and finding a dish whose flavor was completely masked by lemon and drowned in oil, we decided to give up, skipping any main courses and desserts. As we left, the very kind owner, I imagine almost ashamed, presented us with a bill worthy of a completely different establishment. We kindly urge him to review the restaurant's standards, or at least adjust his prices to his capabilities. We strongly advise against it. Furthermore, the owner's dishonesty was further demonstrated, as our reservation was listed as cancelled on TheFork, even though we had paid a considerable sum and ended up eating almost nothing.

12/04/2026: We had a great dinner; we loved everything. It's a small place, so I recommend making a reservation. Otherwise, everything was excellent. The service was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. It's a very local spot, as there are hardly any foreigners, but they treated us wonderfully, and the food was spectacular. The menu is short, but the exquisite quality more than makes up for it. A beautiful and delicious place; I hope to return.

02/05/2026: Excellent seafood and typical Genoese hospitality. The spartan atmosphere is fine, the service and simple ambiance are fine, and the prices are high (work and quality have their price, and rightly so), but the fact that the waiter punched the bathroom door and said rude things to urge those inside to leave is unacceptable. Because there was a three-year-old boy and his aunt in the bathroom. They were there only a few minutes. A child has different time limits than an adult. And whoever was there, if they stayed in the bathroom, it was out of necessity, not to read Mickey Mouse.

24/04/2026: I think it's under new management... I remembered everything being very different. Limited selection of dishes and, above all, poor quality. It's a shame because it's in a beautiful location. We hope you take steps to improve!

15/04/2026: Room and bathroom poor: sagging mattresses, springs poking into your back, the shower tray is full of mold, only 1 large wall lamp works, there are no bedside lamps. Dirty curtains, roller blind jammed. The young man behind the counter was unfriendly and unhelpful. Breakfast reasonable. Balcony with sea view. Location near the station fine.

15/12/2025: Went for the birthday of our Peruvian nanny. Owner was very rude. He also raised his voice when I asked for my 3 years old son to go to the toilet claiming the place was a take away. Mind that the place had tables for accommodating customers and that bathroom access is mandatory in such case. Food was not real Peruvian and the entire experience was not pleasant.

20/03/2026: My husband and I have been coming to this seaside restaurant and bar for years, and every time we leave we're more than satisfied. It overlooks San Lorenzo beach, a special place where you can breathe in a timeless atmosphere and easily relax. The restaurant combines simplicity with comfort. The staff is always kind and attentive, despite the restaurant being often crowded. The food is traditional Ligurian, made with quality ingredients and cooked to perfection, and the prices are very fair. We highly recommend it.

20/03/2026: Unfortunately, a huge disappointment. The food was presented without any care and tasted truly mediocre – there was a clear lack of quality and attention to detail. The staff were also extremely unfriendly, and at no point did we feel welcome. The only positive aspect is the beautiful location by the sea, but this unfortunately cannot compensate for the overall negative impression. Absolutely not recommended.

02/05/2026: I strongly advise against this place. The welcome was rude, making us feel almost like we were in the way. The quality of the ingredients is decidedly poor, far from what one would expect from an osteria of this name. The prices are definitely too high for such a low standard of cuisine. We won't be returning.
