15/05/2026: Polite staff, delicious dinner in the attached restaurant, breakfast nothing special. However our stay was badly let down by the infrastructure - whether that of the hotel or the city, I am not sure. On four occasions we had no water supply in the bathroom, at inconvenient times for several hours at a time. We were told that it was a supply problem in the old city. If the outer hotel door mechanism hasn't been fixed, be prepared to slide the doors manually. A minor problem, but not a great first impression as you roll up with your suitcases.The building is definitely quirky, a refreshing change from anodyne chain hotels. Plenty of character, and stairs. Good location for exploring the old city, and making a dash to see the sunset. Short walk (via a pedestrian only ramp access, a little to the west of the hotel) from the harbour car park (€10 daily rate at time of visit) if you find a space. No need to enter the ZTL resident vehicle only zone, that covers the rest of the old city. Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. When the weather wasn't windy, we had a good harbour view. There is no facility to securely keep the shutters open, so they have to be closed in windy conditions (half of the trip) robbing the room of light and the view. Coat hooks somewhere in the room would be useful. Our room's shower cubicle would be a challenge for larger folk. I am slim build, and kept hitting the shower controls. If you are relying on public transport, be prepared to spend most of your time in Gallipoli rather than exploring the surrounding towns and countryside. Bus 108 to Lecce only runs mid June to mid September, despite anything that mapping apps tell you otherwise. The rail replacement bus took two hours between the two cities. First service of the day ran on time, but later in the day one service was nearly an hour late. A taxi between the two cities cost us €70. As we only stayed for a short break, we were happy wandering around Gallipoli and out to the beaches. For a longer holiday, car hire would have been essential at this time of year. A shame, as the train service we used between Lecce, Brindisi and Bari seemed very efficient. I hate not giving five star reviews, especially as Sara and Emanuela were very kind. Couple, staying in a top floor room, half board for four nights, early May 2026.

12/05/2026: I've been meaning to write a few lines about Facula for a while, and finally I do. Besides being a first-rate rotisserie, they serve truly excellent Roman pinsa and calzones, which are hard to find this good in the area. But it's when you sit down and order pizza that the quality really rises. The pizzas (customizable) are fragrant, with a light, well-leavened, and well-cooked dough. It stays crispy without being dry, the crust is airy and fragrant, and you can tell they take great care in cooking and use a quality oven. Those working behind the scenes make the difference—well done! The toppings are top-notch and well-balanced, with fresh ingredients, well-made fior di latte mozzarella, and a perfect balance of flavors. Nothing overdone, plenty of substance. Both the classic and more elaborate options are tasty and carefully prepared. The atmosphere is familiar and relaxed, even though it's located on Corso Roma. Inside, there's a relaxed atmosphere, with courteous, efficient, and unhurried service—just how I like it. In short, a reliable, centrally located establishment with excellent value. No frills or over-the-top pretensions, just substance and well-made products. It's become a regular stop for me every time I'm in Gallipoli. If you're passing through, I highly recommend it; you'll leave happy.

03/05/2026: Warm heart cake without a warm heart

16/05/2026: We received a very warm welcome. Even though our English was rudimentary and our Italian nonexistent, the staff took an incredible amount of time and patience to understand us and fulfill our wishes. The sunset during dinner... priceless. The food itself was incredibly delicious; we had tuna, pasta carbonara, and pasta with pesto alla genovese (or something like that)... We were looked after in a very unobtrusive yet genuinely kind manner, and nothing was lacking. A huge compliment, and we will definitely come back. 🫶🏻

10/05/2026: I ate very well: home-made but refined cuisine

01/05/2026: We went for lunch on May 1st. It advertises itself as a fresh fish restaurant, but as a true Bari resident, there's very little fresh fish (black shrimp heads, rotten-smelling paranza, tagliolini with tuna that left a muddy aftertaste, etc.), not to mention the location and the dirty dishes! In the end, they even got the bill wrong: a total of €300 for 12 people. We were four adults. We pointed out the error and changed the total to €245, which is a real steal for eating old fish! A disastrous experience! Highly not recommended!

07/04/2026: A charming and informal location. On nice days, the tables overlooking the sea offer a beautiful view. We ate quite well; everything was delicious, from the Fantasia di mare appetizer to the spaghetti with mussels and the mixed fried fish. The service could be a little more attentive, and the tablecloths should be replaced between customers. I also have a negative comment about The Fork customers. The restaurant has two menus, one for "regular" customers and another for The Fork customers, where the dishes cost €1 or €2 more. This is very unpleasant and discriminatory. The restaurant can easily offer a single menu and offer a lower The Fork discount—in short, any other solution, except for the higher prices and then the discount. I was also asked not to pay with The Fork Pay.

10/05/2026: We had three gin and tonics...horrible...flat tonic, only the smell of gin! €21 is fine if they make them well, not if you give me flat water. Not recommended.

04/05/2026: Very nice place on the sea...good aperitifs...both the owners and the waiters are friendly....
