Ho concordato con la proprietaria il menù, chiedendo di fare un tagliere abbondante per 5 persone, compreso di bruschette e focacce, oltre ai drink. Il tagliere che ci è stato portato era neanche per due persone, qualche fetta di salumi, pezzettini di formaggio, due ovoline, due friggitelli e due fette di melanzane grigliate, contornate da uva e pezzi di mela . Ho chiesto spiegazione al cameriere che mi ha riferito che quello era il loro standard. Alche’ ho chiesto un altro tagliere con altra focaccia . Ovviamente il prezzo pagato è stato superiore al concordato. Non ci tornerò mai piu

03/08/2025: Excellent location at the entrance to the ancient village of Ostia Antica, friendly and competent. Food made with quality ingredients at fair prices. The vegetables are excellently cooked, making them suitable for vegans and vegetarians. We'll definitely be back!

13/08/2025: A good seafood restaurant, with a reasonably varied selection, well-prepared dishes, and a fairly good value. The spaghetti alla zí Checco (a sort of reinterpretation of seafood) and the other seafood first courses are excellent, as are the appetizers and second courses. Where there's likely room for improvement is the selection and pricing of dishes that are suitable for children, also with a view to avoiding unjustifiable waste (we had asked for the option—which was included on the menu—of a half portion of pasta with tomato sauce for our daughter, but it wasn't possible, resulting in most of the pasta being left on the plate). Another area worth investing in to improve the customer experience is definitely the menu: in addition to offering the option (which is no longer an option) of half portions of the first courses, not all the dishes offered are available (for example, we were able to order the very good seafood salad only because we specifically requested it, even though we hadn't found it on the menu...). Why bother with these details?

30/06/2025: Great lunch with a local friend! Ox tail is well marinated and so tender! Mozzarella pizza is authentic with crispy edges! Even the plates are so special! Wall decorations show the history of this restaurant.

15/10/2024: Really nice place, both for the summer with a well-kept outdoor environment in a not bad garden, and in the winter with an internal area that is not particularly large (so I recommend booking) but refined and well-kept. Wide selection of meats, sandwiches and beers. We ventured on sandwiches and appetizers that were not bad, and very original too! The very kind owner guided us for the best choice of food and beers... very prepared 👏🏼! Costs aren't exactly low, but for the quality of the food it's okay. We will be back for the meat 😎

17/07/2025: Ich war für 2 Monate von Mai bis Juli 2025 in Rom und habe in dieser Zeit im Stadtteil Portuense gewohnt. Das La Ruota ist für mich und meine Freundin schon so eine Art Stammlokal geworden, in welchem wir uns von Anfang an sehr gut aufgenommen und wohl gefühlt haben. Es gibt einen großen Innenbereich und einen - für römische Verhältnisse - gut gelegenen Außenbereich, der zum Gehweg abgegrenzt ist. Das Personal und der Inhaber sind sehr angenehme und zuvorkommende Menschen, das Essen ist gut, ebenso der Hauswein und die Preise sind absolut in Ordnung. Besucht wird das Lokal vor allem von Einheimischen aus der Umgegend, dabei auch viele Familien. Das bedingt natürlich auch, das nicht selten spielende Kinder drinnen oder im Außenbereich hin und her rennen, das ist hier so.

01/08/2025: Sucks that you can not leave zero stars. My family was visiting from NYC and it was their last day in rome so I decided to take them to this place which turned out to be the equivalent of a hell hole. So it starts out fine we walk in and ask for a table outside since the weather was so beautiful. We were ready to order so i called the waiter over but he got stopped by the table adjacent to us. Ive been living in Italy for a bit so i picked up some Italian and heard them say to him "why are 'these' near us?" Then they continue badmouthing us whilst giving us nasty looks. All of this is because two of my guest were wearing hijabs. Then the waiter gets swayed by their opinions and treats us poorly. First he does not take our orders properly by not even looking us in the eyes. Then he could not be bothered to serve us anymore so his colleague takes over, which leads to a further delay in the food. Next when the food finally arrives its terrible and to salty. I was about to make a complaint but my family told me to just leave it be, so I let it slide. While all this was going on the table that complained constantly gave us nasty looks as if we had garbage smeared on our faces. Finally we decide to finish the tragic experience and not get second or third courses, so we ask for the check and the new waiter takes a decade to bring it. When he finally brings it i pay with card and as i am about to take out a tip he closes the check book and says in the most disingenuous way " Thank you! Goodbye!". Tl;dr The food was undercooked and salty to the point to that a healthy person would get kidney stones, and it was expensive. Next the service was terrible or was terrible if you are not white or Italian. Don’t visit waste of money.

04/08/2025: A Roman gem waiting to be discovered! Stunning location, a great place for aperitivo with an extensive wine list and cocktails, accompanied by fries and crunchy pizza. If you've never been, go!

04/07/2025: Prosciutto with melon was beautiful, service was nice but unfortunately both my grecia and my partner's carbonara were way too salty to eat. We tried but it really was inedible and unfortunately, we left a little too hungry after having spent €16 for each (other places in the area are maximum €15 for pasta). The waiters were lovely and felt really bad about our experience and they gave us a shot of grappa to have with them. After the 2 waiters spoke back and forth in Italian, clearly trying to work out how much to charge us after we didn't eat our pasta, they only gave us a €2 discount. Not complaining, better than nothing I guess, just disappointing. Thank you to the lovely man who had a shot with us, he made us feel better about our experience

11/07/2025: The guys at the tables are very good and kind. The only downsides are: 1) a menu with no prices; 2) a plate of beans cost €14.50... well, they were with pork rinds... but maybe serve it to rich tourists, not Romans, who never come back.

13/06/2025: This is a restaurant with a double location, in the summer it moves to a beautiful terrace a few hundred meters further than the rest of the year. Excellent and very high quality products. It is not the first time I go and in fact, I will return many more times. Fast, impeccable and truly courteous service. Recommended!
