Al Callarello In Roma

Courteous and attentive staff. Charming interior. Not pretentious. Solid, delicious food. Eggplant, salad, lemon sea bass, roast pork, and creme brulee which was out of this world.

Very good service. The carbonara arrived lukewarm with a slight undercooking. Besides, we looked for the bacon in the dish... Too bad for a first restaurant in Rome. The setting is dated and it's a shame that the storefront is not highlighted.

Great welcome and professionalism. Good quality food at not exaggerated prices. Evenings spent in this place are always very pleasant.

Maybe it's because in the restaurants in the area where I live, supplì are an insult to Roman cuisine, but I really liked the ones I tried at Callarello. Well seasoned and not "mushy" rice, stringy mozzarella, good breading. And what about the artichokes... Giudia style, probably double fried, and the fried artichokes, tender and nicely browned. Roman artichokes, a real delicacy. And is cheese pepper? I don't like tonnarelli, I prefer spaghetti, but the sauce was well done; simple dish, but well balanced in the ingredients. In short, the dishes I tried are a good example of Roman and Roman Jewish cuisine. The service was carried out by a kind and efficient guy.

Welcoming interior environment, but a little dated, better to go as a couple or at most four per table, service for groups is a little rough, everyone should receive adequate portions, especially the first courses served with a few minutes between one course and another late ⏰. Prices of the artichokes (tasted three variations) even if the Giudia ones were well made they should eliminate a few more pieces to justify the slightly exaggerated cost. Respected traditional Roman dishes, wine 🍷 there are good wineries to draw from with more centered costs, good desserts 🍰 but minimal portions and a cake which was good but a little soft on the outside. Unfortunately we had lunch with the noise and smell of an adjacent construction site that was calmly laying the asphalt and a few meters away it was not pleasant. I hope to return in the summer and enjoy other house specialties 🏠.
