10/03/2026: I went with my wife on March 8th, International Women's Day. The fileda with lamb sauce was the best I've had in a long time. The place was clean and tidy. I'll definitely be back. A tip: since it was International Women's Day, a few sprigs of mimosa on the tables would have earned us an extra star. Antonio

16/01/2026: An elegant, refined restaurant, with excellent food, impeccably presented and served. The waiters were kind and courteous, and the atmosphere was comfortable and elegant. I appreciated the towels in the bathrooms (in addition to paper towels) and the sanitary pads in the women's restrooms.

30/09/2025: I'm sharing my very positive experience! We were four of us at this restaurant on July 11, 2025. The welcome was typically touristy, but the restaurant actually offered impeccable service, good food, and excellent value. It's a shame about the portions, which were really small.

19/10/2025: “Incipit” is almost a hidden gem, tucked away from the busy High Street and tourist-heavy areas. This spot comes highly recommended by locals — and for good reason. It has a gorgeous outdoor terrace with views over the piazza, but the real wow factor comes when you choose to dine indoors… in the cave! Yes, a beautifully lit, cosy cave with an incredible atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. The service was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The menu is fantastic, offering a perfect mix of local favourites and creative twists. We went all out and enjoyed the full experience: antipasto, primo, and secondo. The tuna tartare was outstanding, bursting with freshness and flavour. I had the Fileja al ’Nduja ragu, which was absolutely mind-blowing — and high on my Calabria culinary wish list. My partner chose the hazelnut risotto, which was equally exceptional. For mains, I had the pistachio-crusted seabass while my partner had the cod — both dishes beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended if you want an authentic, high-quality dining experience away from the tourist traps. Grazie mille per il fantastico servizio 🙏👌👏

31/03/2026: Stunning pasta dishes! My husband is still raving about how wonderful the Strangozzi al profumo di mare (fresh spaghetti with mixed seafood) was - incredibly fresh pasta and a great range of seafood in a delicious sauce. Large portions and served with bread (in a paper bag). I had the linguine with prawns and pistachio which was tasty. Local wine was easy drinking.

27/03/2026: Delicious pizza and one of the cheapest in Tropea. Highly recommended! Our top pick is the A Vampata pizza from N'duja—delicious.

07/10/2025: I went with my wife and son in September for dinner in the ancient cave. The seafood appetizer smelled bad and tasted nothing like seafood. The octopus was transparent and smelled bad—you couldn't tell it was octopus carpaccio; it was literally transparent, like tissue paper. The rest was anything but anything that reminded you of the sea. Everything was frozen and poorly treated. Parmigiana was the sore point!! It wasn't parmigiana, but a mixture of boiled eggs drowned in tomato sauce. I don't think they even know what eggplant parmigiana is; there were only boiled eggs. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me; it was a TERRIBLE experience that's hard to undo. They have no idea what Italian or Calabrian cuisine is. What a shame! These people were improvised and had never worked in a kitchen!

26/03/2026: Let me preface this by saying that I've known Bruno and Fortunato all my life.....whether alone or with friends, I've always felt at home in what I call "my haven of taste." The Schinella brothers are a guarantee, always striving to provide the best possible service to their customers. I've read some complaints, but those who strive to do and give the best may not be able to satisfy everyone's palates, especially since, with all this TV these days, we all feel like food critics. Getting back to the point, I would definitely recommend the place. The wine and spirits list is truly unique, with fantastic labels for those who understand and know wine. The pizza is excellent, with excellent leavening. Any softness in the center isn't a cooking issue at all, but rather an abundance of ingredients. In any case, the Neapolitan-style pizza is soft in the center: "rusks are not pizza." The meats are top-quality and the first courses are delicious and tasty. A big hug to the Schinella brothers for their dedication to the wonderful memories of those cutlets their mother used to prepare, which Fortunato was always forced to share with me, all washed down with a good glass of red wine and lots of laughter.

26/03/2026: I've known the restaurant forever and even decided to celebrate my birthday there a few days ago. What I particularly appreciate is undoubtedly the beauty of the place, the food, and the variety of wine (which is obviously the most important thing) ☺️😍 I highly recommend it ❤️

20/10/2025: We came for lunch, and I must say the girl who served us was very kind and friendly, as well as giving great advice. You absolutely have to try the first course: spaghetti with clams and pesto! Truly delicious!! 😍 Or the authentic Roman carbonara! ❤️

01/11/2025: Very cute restaurant! I went twice and sat on the terrace. I had a pizza and the other day the filej pasta with cipolla rossa and caponata tropeana. Everything was delicious and service was excellent, she even remembered my special dietary requirements from the time before.

26/03/2026: To say it's unspeakable is to give it a huge compliment: zero emergency exits, no disabled bathroom, mediocre food, waiting staff who can't even answer the simplest questions, a real mockery of everyone. On my way out I asked other people for opinions, and I won't even tell you what they told me about the owner, but I don't know. In the dining room, the people are really lacking in time, they can't even complete a sentence in Italian. I hope the NAS will intervene as soon as possible because here we are one step away from a disaster that was announced... BUT WITH WHAT COURAGE DO THEY OPEN THIS BROTHERHOOD, A PLACE THAT'S ALL APPEARANCE (AND THEN THEY GET LOST IN THE MOST OBVIOUS DETAILS (PLASTIC CHAIRS FROM IKEA) HAVING SAID THAT, I THINK YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHO YOU'RE DEALING WITH... IN THE END I'M GIVING TWO STARS, BECAUSE INSIDE IT'S AN ACCEPTABLE PLACE BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS AT -4...

09/03/2026: We had lunch yesterday with my family of 9 people. Very slow service, overcooked risotto eaten only because we were hungry, not to mention the fact that we ate separately, the first courses arrived in installments, to some half an hour earlier and to others half an hour later, my 2-year-old son asked for a penne with tomato sauce to arrive first but it arrived almost last, he asked for 4 glasses that never arrived, I end up saying that we will never return.

24/03/2026: Tropea, Lido Costa degli Dei, "Coast of the Gods" is a very nice small town beach. It has a beautiful sandy beach, located at the foot of the sanctuary of Santa Maria Dell Isola, a great place for a cloudless and sunny holiday.
