24/10/2025: It's a small place, but with plenty of space between tables. Its atmosphere is pleasant, rustic, and cozy, with a nautical decor that filled the walls and achieved a very successful effect. The waiter who served us was very friendly and helpful. We first chose a Caprese salad, not very abundant but rich in flavor. We were perfect with our fish dishes: fried calamari and grilled tuna steak. Being in Pizzo, it was almost obligatory to order the typical dessert: truffle. It was very good.

19/09/2025: wonderful service, wonderful food and wonderful atmosphere, after 2 weeks in pizzo, i think this is probably the best restaurant here. ate here on the last evening of our vacation and the only negative thing i can think of is not coming to this restaurant earlier. the truffle pasta was so good i almost cried (no, really). thank you so much and until the next time.

30/09/2025: I'm sharing my very positive experience! We were four of us at this restaurant on July 11, 2025. The welcome was typically touristy, but the restaurant actually offered impeccable service, good food, and excellent value. It's a shame about the portions, which were really small.

19/10/2025: “Incipit” is almost a hidden gem, tucked away from the busy High Street and tourist-heavy areas. This spot comes highly recommended by locals — and for good reason. It has a gorgeous outdoor terrace with views over the piazza, but the real wow factor comes when you choose to dine indoors… in the cave! Yes, a beautifully lit, cosy cave with an incredible atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. The service was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The menu is fantastic, offering a perfect mix of local favourites and creative twists. We went all out and enjoyed the full experience: antipasto, primo, and secondo. The tuna tartare was outstanding, bursting with freshness and flavour. I had the Fileja al ’Nduja ragu, which was absolutely mind-blowing — and high on my Calabria culinary wish list. My partner chose the hazelnut risotto, which was equally exceptional. For mains, I had the pistachio-crusted seabass while my partner had the cod — both dishes beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended if you want an authentic, high-quality dining experience away from the tourist traps. Grazie mille per il fantastico servizio 🙏👌👏

02/11/2025: Beautiful and charming location in the heart of Tropea. But I really can't say enough about the deliciousness of the food I tasted. I didn't go for typical products, but for classic seafood and meat dishes. I don't recommend the seafood appetizers; they're really nothing special. The ravioli with shrimp and scallops were good. Otherwise, everything was normal, with excessive prices. The wait for the food was exaggerated, despite the good service and numerous staff. Worth a look.

30/10/2025: Found on a recommendation. The charming atmosphere begins right at the entrance, where you stand on a glass platform overlooking the old wine cellar. The tables are well spaced. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and conversation. Luckily, we reserved a table. Very attentive service. Delicious bread served in a paper bag. The €2 cover charge is reasonable. Good selection of typical Italian dishes. We enjoyed the food, and the meat was exceptionally tender.

07/10/2025: I went with my wife and son in September for dinner in the ancient cave. The seafood appetizer smelled bad and tasted nothing like seafood. The octopus was transparent and smelled bad—you couldn't tell it was octopus carpaccio; it was literally transparent, like tissue paper. The rest was anything but anything that reminded you of the sea. Everything was frozen and poorly treated. Parmigiana was the sore point!! It wasn't parmigiana, but a mixture of boiled eggs drowned in tomato sauce. I don't think they even know what eggplant parmigiana is; there were only boiled eggs. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me; it was a TERRIBLE experience that's hard to undo. They have no idea what Italian or Calabrian cuisine is. What a shame! These people were improvised and had never worked in a kitchen!

11/11/2025: The food was very good, as was the service and prices (November). We ordered homemade pasta with Tropea onions and stuffed squid. The squid (video in the file) was amazing. I'll be back for it again and again. The "Tartuffo" dessert wasn't worth the price, although very good; one piece is more than enough for two people. My overall rating: Worth coming back here, the best restaurant in Tropea :D

19/11/2025: Very disappointing: I went to this restaurant, which is so widely promoted on social media as excellent, but the reality is very different from what they want people to believe. Aside from the nice and welcoming location and the kind staff, the rest is very poor. Dishes with little flavor and unbalanced seasoning/gross errors of concept (such as the tuna tartare, therefore a crudité, placed under the hot pasta, thus losing all its peculiarities, or the baked potatoes that tasted only of garlic, inedible, never seen anything like it), etc. etc. Not to mention the prices, such as the second course (I attach a photo) swordfish, 4 small pieces with a little orange and fennel, 25 euros 😳 when in the best restaurants it doesn't cost more than 18/19 euros, or the octopus, 3 micro pieces over 26 euros. That said, 4 first courses, 3 second courses, a side dish, and only 2 bottles of water came to €205. For €250, I've eaten in much better restaurants, especially those with more courses. I'm sure they'll tell me I'm wrong and that they've had a lot of positive reviews. I wonder how that's possible, given the low quality of the food.

03/11/2025: Good quality food, service too, prices not exactly cheap but not very expensive either, shame about the decor which definitely needs modernizing, but we were told that there is already a renovation project and it is definitely worth it.

20/10/2025: We came for lunch, and I must say the girl who served us was very kind and friendly, as well as giving great advice. You absolutely have to try the first course: spaghetti with clams and pesto! Truly delicious!! 😍 Or the authentic Roman carbonara! ❤️
