18/01/2025: Exceptional location!! Too bad it was raining but in summer I think it's beautiful and above all cool!! Excellent food. The guys in the room (Luciano and Giuseppe) were up to the role and very nice. Excellent prices also in relation to the quantity of food served. must try!!!

12/10/2024: What a cool spot for a smoke and beverage! As I approached the front outside seating entrance I was welcomed by two serving staff. Super friendly and inviting. I got a sat at a comfortable spot for me to enjoy my cigar and drinks.

21/11/2024: Disappointing, Went here for dinner in October based on the reviews and hoping for something a bit special and away from the commercial centre. The venue was very nice, probably the first meal indoors on our holiday. However all the other clientele were also tourists, no Italians, always a bad sign. Maybe because of this there was no atmosphere. The staff also lacked the typical Italian hospitality, possibly because the boss/chef was American.(oops). But the main gripe was that the food wasn't anything special. We ordered a whole fish to share. Presentation could have been better but they hadn't even descaled it which in my book is pretty basic. Also we could hear the frequent ping of the microwave. Still better than most UK restaurants but expect better in Italy.

07/01/2025: Cucina di pesce contemporanea in un locale moderno con fornelli a vista. Eccellente il polpo con cipolla come antipasto e la pasta con cipolla e tartare di tonno, meno saporiti gli spaghetti con le vongole e l’antipasto misto, ottimi i dolci. Servizio cortese e puntuale.

20/10/2024: He estado frecuentando este maravilloso lugar en la costa durante muchos años y fue maravilloso escuchar que Floriana estaba en la cocina. La comida que sirve es simplemente maravillosa. Verduras a la parrilla, spaghetti vongele, pastas de marisco. todo tiene un sabor maravilloso. Personal atento y tan relajante en las tumbonas. Buena selección de bebidas, snacks y pizzas.

17/01/2025: Siamo stati a Pizzo per una tappa intermedia in viaggio da nord verso la Sicilia - il 23 dicembre - e abbiamo prenotato il ristorante un'ora prima dall'autostrada. Il locale si trova in una palazzina storica davanti al mare, è molto ben arredato e ciò che ci ha subito colpiti sono state le volte antiche sui soffitti, fatte con quelli che sembrano fondi di anfore: si entra in un'atmosfera accogliente ed ordinata, ben sonorizzata, con lo spazio corretto tra i tavoli. Abbiamo due cani (di cui una anziana), quindi per poter stare comodi - e alla giusta distanza dagli altri commensali - ci hanno fatti accomodare in un punto riparato accanto al banco del bar, confortevole sia per noi che per i nostri amici a quattro zampe. A pranzo abbiamo preso involtini di polpo con pomodorini e capperi (un sapore veramente molto interessante), un piatto di crudi di pesce perfetto (tra tutti, i gamberi rossi di Mazara e le ostriche erano eccezionali) e una frittura mista di pesce croccante e molto abbondante. Il tutto accompagnato da uno Zibibbo calabrese orange (cantina Benvenuto, €25) molto elegante, buonissimo. Caffè e amaro (locale, squisito) sono stati offerti, prezzo €100: a nostro giudizio assolutamente corretto. Così, considerato che ci saremmo alzati prima dell'alba per ripartire verso lo Stretto e che il ristorante era vicinissimo da raggiungere dal nostro b&b, abbiamo deciso di tornare a cena, sia per la gentilezza dello staff - durante un viaggio fa piacere sentirsi ben accolti - che per provare qualche altro piatto; per restare leggeri, abbiamo preso i turbanti di spigola (freschissimi), altre due ostriche e un tagliere misto di terra, tutto perfetto, con una bottiglia di bianco e l'immancabile amaro locale (nettamente migliore dei blasonati amari industriali che vanno di moda): €75. Torneremo sicuramente a La Ruota: le porzioni sono piacevolmente generose e il rapporto qualità/prezzo nettamente equilibrato, il servizio è impeccabile e l'accoglienza - cosa mai scontata quando si è in viaggio - fa la differenza.

15/12/2024: Premise : I've been twice for two family birthdays and I hope there will be other times again. The place is welcoming inside and also has a beautiful outdoor area with garden. I had the opportunity to test both the kitchen and the pizzeria. In one of the two parties I took part in, I was also able to bring my little dog and the owners were kind enough to even let him play inside, I couldn't find a better place where he felt so comfortable too. Whether it's for a birthday party or not, it has so much potential and I have also recommended it to my circle of friends. I wanted to make the premise because the rudeness of a single individual cannot compromise the work of the collective. Unfortunately, the last time I had the displeasure of meeting one of the waiters (I think it's one on call) to whom I simply indicated that the margherita pizza was for me, he turned away and shouted that I didn't speak when his back was turned. looking at the other side of the table (the pizza in question was not for the center of the table but was a pizza not cut into several pieces) he threw it on the table to me and sincerely as far as I can understand the nervousness of a Saturday working evening I find anyway inappropriate given that I waited for it to turn around and I didn't express any complaints (honestly, I work with the public, I also have respect for other people's work, I would never allow myself to do so). If only this had happened, although it made me quite nervous, I probably wouldn't have expressed any opinion here. A few minutes later while I was cutting the pizza into several segments since I was also sharing it with my brother, I cut it into several parts and immediately this "waiter" appears again and without asking starts randomly cutting the pizza with a wheel dirty from other ones pizzas with sausage (I don't eat meat) pumpkin and so on and so forth (and what if I was allergic?) commenting "maybe we use the wheel that you're slow to cut" and other things that I honestly haven't heard from since I was too tired by now angry, but they will be pure damn, how fast it takes to cut a pizza? I would have a photo of the pizza but it is not my intention to damage the business so I will refrain from posting it Now I invite anyone to go to this restaurant because it really deserves it and I truly respect all the people who work there, maybe if you like this waiter (Alfredo) and you've had a hard day like me and you don't want to have other problems ask for the other guy young man who is always smiling quickly and if he sees 30 people to serve he doesn't get impatient. Thanks to the staff I hope it helps collective growth.
