During our stay in Tropea, we dined at Scacco Matto, and the experience was truly excellent.
The restaurant is very well-maintained and welcoming, with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was friendly, professional, and always available, making us feel welcome throughout the evening.
We started with a delicious mussel soup, rich and flavorful, accompanied by croutons. For our first courses, we chose calamarata and rigatoni with fresh tuna, Tropea onions, and cherry tomatoes: both generous, well-prepared, and made with quality ingredients. Also not to be missed is the tuna alla Tropeana, tender and rich in flavor.
Generous portions, carefully prepared dishes, and authentic flavors of Calabrian seafood cuisine. A restaurant that convinced us in every way and that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to eat well in Tropea. Congratulations to the entire staff!

Kind, friendly service, the food speaks for itself. Generous portions, sophisticated environment. They bring the Italian flavors. Out of 4 restaurants where we ate, the lasagne and carbonara are the best here.

Excellent food, service, and wine, fair value for money. Just one piece of advice to the owners: a ceiling fan would have helped, the room was a bit warm.

Outstanding restaurant! We were seated right next to a fan, so even on a hot day it was very comfortable. The restaurant also has a beautiful view of the sea, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable.
The waiter was kind, the staff were welcoming, and the service was excellent.
I ordered the king prawns, while my boyfriend had the swordfish pasta from the daily specials and a Caprese salad. Everything was incredibly delicious, and the presentation of the dishes was beautiful.
We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Our hotel recommended this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. The staff is extraordinarily nice, they create a welcoming and warm atmosphere - they do so by making the effort effortlessly.
Antipasto scacco matto was a great selection of local seafood. Then we had tagliolini con gambero rosso e pistacchio: fresh and delicious. We didn't stay for dessert, but maybe we should have:)

I've been going to Scacco Matto for a couple of years now, and it's always a confirmation. The menu always offers excellent options, and the quality of the cuisine is top-notch: you can immediately see that behind the stove is a chef with great technique and passion.
The wait staff is truly knowledgeable, never intrusive, and always on point; after all this time, I've also developed a strong relationship with them, and it's always a pleasure to return.
If you're looking for a place where you can eat truly well in Tropea without any surprises, this is a surefire place.
