Homemade bread, sulphite-free wine, excellent meats, delicious first courses and the bruschetta with caramelised onion, goat's ricotta, broccoli and Cantabrian anchovies is an absolute must..... a delight!!!!! My husband and I had only booked for Easter but after having lunch we also booked for Easter Monday 😂😂😂. If you are in Matera you cannot miss a meal at Sapori Gluten Free. A special applause goes above all to the owner, a gentleman who takes care of the room impeccably.

05/04/2024: Beautiful place, we were there today and I must say excellent quality of the products, very good pizza and first courses and good homemade dessert. it's worth traveling 50 km, we will definitely be back!

06/04/2024: Absolutely perfect, from the friendly, attentive, and knowledgable waiter to the delicious food and amazing view! Classy, Lovely place to watch day turn to night over the sassi. I had the octopus with mint, a generous glass of red wine, and a vegetable dish with sausage, while husband had pasta and pork. Every bite was exceptional - even the bread was good. Trust the waiter’s recommendations! Priced very reasonably - paid 42 euros total, including service charge. Excellent deal for great quality food. Highly recommended!

It may be our fault.
The viewpoint advertised was for two people.
A place called Finestra sui Sassi, should have a good vantage point.
We will treat ourselves to some typical Sant Josep fritters.

06/04/2024: Great atmosphere, great wine list, but very poor knowledge how to treat fine wine…… tartare was served without any toasted bread, no salt, pepper and olive oil on the table……. Wine refrigerator was too noisy behind our back. Service was too fast between courses ( less than 15 minutes), also while cutting our food the table was moving.
Overall experience was not what we expected for this type of restaurant. Hopefully this review will improve your future service and food.
06/04/2024: A place where local cuisine shines at its best. I've tried polpette di pane and I've never been so happy with such a simple recipe.

12/02/2024: Consiglio a tutti coloro che si recano nella fantastica Matera ad andare a cenare in questo ristorante. Bellissima atmosfera, personale garbato e non invadente, Oste gentile e ben disposto a dare consigli disinteressati. Il tortino di zucca ed i primi sono da ristorante stellato..... Una piccola disattenzione della cucina à stata risolta con grande professionalità e cortesia. Se devo trovare il pelo nell'uovo sono da migliorare i dessert.
29/01/2024: Stanche per la lunga camminata ci siamo fermate in questo ristorate è stata una scelta felice. Ambiente tranquillo piatti tipici e tanta cortesia. Prezzo adeguato

22/03/2024: A charming rustic restaurant. The home-style cuisine is characterized by its quality and offers a variety of dishes that are suitable for every taste. Particularly notable is the digital menu, which allows dishes to be filtered by allergens as well as vegetarian/vegan options. The ability to view the menu in different languages also makes the restaurant attractive to international guests. The selection of gluten-free and lactose-free dishes, for example, was also good. The rustic atmosphere and friendly staff contributed to an all-round successful experience.

The food is good...but they are smart and try to "get you" Whatever.

25/02/2024: Abbiamo pranzato in due, la signora ci ha portato il menù ma ha detto di non considerarlo poiché non era possibile avere alcuni dei piatti menzionati, a voce ci ha elencato alcune.pietanze disponibili,comportamento molto scorretto in quanto avrebbe potuto dare un menù con i piatti del giorno e relativi prezzi. Abbiamo scelto 2 insalate di mare come antipasto e un primo allo scoglio,l antipasto misero con cozze striminzite e rinaecchite che potevano evitare di mettere ,alcuni pezzi di polipo e una fettina di salmone appena tirati fuori dal freezer,servite su una foglia di lattuga 18 euro ....pasta allo scoglio con le stesse cozze rinsecchite e qualche altro mollusco senza sapore 18 euro.... conto... 2 antipasti ,un primo, due calici di vino 70,00 euro. Senza infamia e senza lode, non ci ritorneremo di certo mai più.
21/01/2024: Other restaurateurs spoke well of this place to me and they were right. Very fresh fish and tasty dishes as well as a breathtaking view. It was worth coming on purpose! Highly recommended!

02/04/2024: We really enjoyed our meal here - it was a special set menu so we didn’t have any choices but everything was tasty, well cooked, generous and made with care. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional and the prices were in line with similar places nearby. It’s not in the centre so felt a bit more relaxed and authentic.
02/04/2024: We were there on Easter Monday. Nice and particular place, very kind staff, but the food was terrible... classic starter of cured meats with tastings of typical dishes such as the cialedda. Passable, but the problems start at first with a bitter pasta full of oil and continue the second course had tough meat and the potatoes even arrived cold... the owner replied to my complaint, and I quote the exact words: "yeah but today is a holiday" as if it were really an extenuating circumstance.
If you hope to see me again on weekdays, you can put your soul at peace because I won't enter there again, even by mistake.

12/02/2024: Consigliamo questo ristorante, ci siamo stati oggi con tutta la famiglia, in giro per Matera, prima del ritorno a casa a Polignano, abbiamo pranzato in questo splendido posto, abbiamo mangiato benissimo e soprattutto i proprietari molto gentili. Per noi è stata una piacevole scoperta. Non vediamo l’ora di tornare. Grazie per tutto.

Già il livello era alto ma ha raggiunto un livello davvero eccellente.
C'è veramente l' imbarazzo della scelta.
Fra le varie proposte io ho scelto un carpaccio di spigola su cuc cus all'arancia.
Spaghetti ai ricci di mare.
Frittura. Tutto eccellente.
Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

05/04/2024: Place discovered by chance, I recommend it, fantastic food, even better location and the service makes you feel at home, since I was there near the closing of the place the staff without knowing me invited me to have a drink with them... it was like being at home, this is southern hospitality!!
04/04/2024: Truly typical place, unique for the natural environment that recalls the origins of the city. Friendly staff who explained the history of the place we were in. Excellent food and very kind and pretty owner. Highly recommended.
