Riso Amaro

22/07/2025: We found this place by chance while looking for a gourmet restaurant to dine at after a day at the beach. We were pleasantly surprised by the simple yet elegant setting, and the outdoor space is very pretty and well-maintained. The waitress was very good and attentive in her recommendations, and we enjoyed two seafood tasting menus. Of these, we truly enjoyed the tuna tartare and the cod maritozzo with mock cappuccino. The best dish, however, was the pettola with cream of beans and shellfish, with chicory powder—truly incredible. The wine recommendation was excellent. A negative note for the chef's aperitif: although the drink was truly special, the amuse bouche seemed a bit "old," cold and lacking in crispiness. However, the white fish main course with pea parfait was unimpressive and lacked much flavor. The desserts were polar opposites: while the exotic dessert was an explosion of flavors and textures in the mouth, the hazelnut and raspberry dessert had unpleasant textures and almost no flavor. We were very pleased with the pre-dessert and the small pastries. Overall, it was a very positive experience and one I would repeat, especially since the price is perfect for everything you eat; I didn't find it too high for the cuisine, ingredients used, and service.
18/07/2025: We were in Fondi for family reasons, not for a planned vacation, and for this reason, discovering Riso Amaro was even more surprising. My wife, while searching for a good restaurant in the area, spotted this Michelin-starred establishment, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It's located in the historic center of the city, just behind the castle: a charming area, rich in history and atmosphere.
The restaurant is elegant, well-maintained, and very clean. We dined on the patio, in a quiet and convivial setting, surrounded by a courteous clientele. The welcome was warm and the service impeccable, with special mention to the head waiter: kind, attentive, and knowledgeable in her wine selection.
We opted for the five-course seafood tasting menu, accompanied by matching wines. The experience was excellent: beautifully presented, creative dishes rooted in local tradition, prepared with high-quality ingredients and enriched with international touches—such as Japanese-inspired sauces or the use of prized mushrooms. Each pairing was carefully crafted, perfectly showcasing flavors and textures.
While it's difficult to describe each dish in detail, what remains memorable is the harmony of flavors, the refinement, and the overall pleasure of the experience. The price—€65 for the menu, plus €25 for the wine pairing—is absolutely appropriate for the quality of the offerings and the thoughtful ambiance.
Riso Amaro is a restaurant I highly recommend to anyone in Fondi or the surrounding area. I would return without hesitation, even just to discover the upcoming seasonal menu. A well-deserved five stars.

12/10/2025: You have to leave behind the beautiful coastline of the Riviera di Ulisse and head into the less than thrilling hinterland of the province of Latina to reach Ristorante Antica Carrera, on the edge of the industrial area of Fondi. But it's a choice you won't regret. The rich and varied menu features several dishes inspired by local culinary traditions, all excellent. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always present but not intrusive. An experience worth repeating. Unfortunately, we weren't able to try too many dishes on the menu.
12/10/2025: We had lunch at this wonderful restaurant with our family and were extremely satisfied. The atmosphere is simply fantastic: welcoming, relaxing, and perfect for a lunch with friends.
The dishes we tasted were excellent; you could taste the quality of the ingredients and the care taken in their preparation.
A special thanks goes to the staff, always attentive, smiling, and extremely thoughtful.
We felt pampered from start to finish.
An experience worth repeating and one we highly recommend to everyone, especially those looking for a place to eat excellently in a beautiful, family-friendly atmosphere. A well-deserved 5 stars!

05/10/2025: On Via Flacca, you forget where you are and find yourself in a green oasis: everything blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature, the transparent windows allowing your gaze to rest on the green trees all around, and the decor echoes the colors and materials of the exterior (the leafy chandeliers, the green armchairs, the wooden tables). Impeccable and much-appreciated style choices.
As for the food, an excellent meal!
- appetizers, especially the fried cod with caciocavallo fondue, polenta, and caramelized onions. As for the mixed antipasto, I would have called it more of a trio of appetizers because I admit the name made us expect something more, but it was still delicious.
- first courses: we tried the burrata tortelli with red prawn cream, which had a very interesting flavor, so much so that we mopped up the sauce. A prawn on top would have made a more visually striking impression.
The desserts were also beautiful and delicious: pistachio Bavarian cream with almond crumble and berry sauce; ricotta and pear cake.
The experience was absolutely delightful and worth repeating, with the fresh fish and bold, unique flavors. They are open year-round but closed on Tuesdays. Other highlights: comfortable and clean restrooms; ample outdoor parking; and an indoor dining area. The friendly and welcoming staff made the experience even more enjoyable!

03/10/2025: A modern and well-equipped restaurant with a very modern menu. Bring your phone, otherwise, no food. Typically Italian, with a giant TV screen in every corner.
28/09/2025: The pinza must be nice and crunchy, otherwise it's just an oval-shaped pizza.
We've been here three or four times now and have noticed that the cooking and toppings of the pinza vary greatly. Although the quality of the ingredients is good, the pinza are sometimes over-seasoned and therefore soft, and other times they're cooked incorrectly.
The pinza should be slightly crispy and easier to digest than the pizza, but if you cook it incorrectly, the effect is the complete opposite.
The staff is very young and friendly. The menu is on QR code, but I didn't have any phone reception: the waitress was super kind and walked us through the menu... thank you!
The location is new and comfortable, very spacious with several working screens. There's a nice parking lot and you can also eat outside where they have tables for customers. Unfortunately, in the summer, there are plenty of mosquitoes both inside and out; it's recommended to bring bug spray.

13/10/2025: We came here for the patron saint's day for the second time. The first time I had a good meal, but this time it was even better. I noticed many improvements in the dishes I'd already tried, like the fried tripe. I recommend all the dishes that include the typical Fondane sausage, but the classic carbonara is also excellent. We'll be back!
30/09/2025: My first experience at this place was by chance, but I have to say I was really surprised. The appetizers were excellent, as I'm allergic to lactose. They recommended an excellent March carpaccio served with truffle-flavored mayonnaise, a 10 out of 10. The chicken cacciatore was also delicious. Given the quality of the food, they could be a little more daring with the price, which is totally deserved. The place is truly welcoming and excellently clean and tidy, things I look for in any place. The open kitchen is truly an added touch, in addition to the truly welcoming location. Absolutely a 10 out of 10 for the kindness of the staff and the smile as soon as you enter, it definitely gets you off to a good start, highly recommended 💎💎💎

26/10/2025: Paolo greets you as soon as you enter, and with absolute kindness, he immediately escorts you to your table. With calm and helpfulness, he guides you through your choice of dishes, then moves on to the wine selection, which he makes excellent recommendations for.
The dishes are rich in flavor and well-composed, while maintaining generous portions. Each dish is absolutely delicious.
Simply put, Locanda Ercole takes you on a culinary journey across the Mediterranean coast.
Highly recommended!

19/07/2025: Quando varchi l'ingresso della pizzeria di Ciro Astarita ti senti a casa. Per il calore con cui Ciro ti accoglie e per l'atmosfera che si respira nel locale. Un impasto ben lievitato, un ottimo equilibrio tra gli ingredienti, il profumo del basilico. L'arte della pizza si affina con l'esperienza e il sacrificio e Astarita la esprime con un'eccellente interpretazione.

18/10/2025: We discovered this business by chance several years ago and continue to frequent it whenever we're in the area. Maurizio is a delightful, dedicated, and highly professional person, who, along with his staff, is always attentive to customer needs.
16/09/2025: I have to say, I'm always happy to have an excuse to come for a "Group Pizza Party" with friends, classmates, or family.
The food is delicious and the prices are fair.
The service and the waiters are excellent and available for everything.
Recommended if you want to enjoy a good pizza dinner as a couple or group before going out to the square, since it's very close by car or on foot (4 minutes by car, 15 minutes on foot).

04/09/2025: In the charming Jewish quarter of Fondi, La Giudea offers a culinary experience that goes far beyond simple pizza. The outdoor tables, set on the medieval basalt slabs under a portico framed by historic homes, create an intimate and charming atmosphere, perfect for a summer evening. We began with a selection of fried foods that to call excellent is an understatement: croquettes, supplì, zucchini flowers, and battered cod with pepper cream that will remain etched in your memory for its lightness, balance, and flavor. The pizza, soft and well-topped, recalls the Campania tradition without being overly thick, a carefully crafted dough that showcases every ingredient. The craft beer list is surprising, featuring quality Italian labels, and the wine selection, though smaller, is well-curated. Making the evening even more enjoyable was the company of Maurizio, the pizza chef and the soul of the place: passionate, welcoming, and always ready to share the story of his craft. His attention to the quality of the ingredients and the digestibility of the dough is evident in every dish. La Giudea isn't just a pizzeria: it's a journey through authentic flavors and local history, led by someone who truly loves what they do. Highly recommended.

22/10/2025: Very nice bar-restaurant. The food is excellent, both at the restaurant and the bar, and the staff is friendly. The cappuccino and croissant are good, but a bit expensive compared to other bars. A breakfast with a cappuccino and a simple croissant (the croissant is listed as filled at the cash register) costs €3. The appetizers are also good, but I don't remember the prices. You can play the SuperEnalotto because they have a lottery office at the cash register.

27/09/2025: I'd read excellent reviews and was excited to go for dinner, but unfortunately I was disappointed.
The bread and wine were excellent, a Carpineti Prosecco. However, I didn't like the clam pasta dish; the pasta wasn't al dente and seemed to have butter added to thicken it. Then I ordered roasted calamari, and the lemon zest was so strong it tasted like dish soap.
I'm sorry, but I'm writing this not to humiliate the restaurant manager, but to be honest with those who read the reviews.
