24/06/2025: La mia esperienza in questo ristorante è stata decisamente negativa. Il pesce crudo, che avrebbe dovuto essere il punto di forza del menù, era chiaramente al limite di freschezza, se non passato. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è inaccettabile: prezzi alti per piatti privi di gusto, mal bilanciati e dall’aspetto trascurato. L’estetica è trascurata, con accostamenti discutibili e una cura inesistente per i dettagli. Inaccettabile poi trovare nel piatto il carapace del granchio lasciato lì senza alcun criterio: una scelta di pessimo gusto, che compromette sia la fruibilità del piatto che l’esperienza complessiva. Unica nota positiva, la possibilità di cenare all’esterno con vista sulla piazza. Peccato che anche questa venga rovinata da una postazione scomodissima, con tavoli così stretti da rendere difficile l'accesso

22/06/2025: Molto deludente. I balconcini panoramici sulla piazza, sono piccolissimi e scomodi. I decantati piatti di pesce senza carattere, sapori slegati e, per questo, ingiustificatamente costosissimi . Spaghetti all'astice meno che mediocri, della pasta tipo gnocchetti con broccoli e gamberi rossi di Mazara, con gamberi senza sapore assolutamente non freschi ed affogati in un incomprensibile sugo con broccoli che induce seri interrogativi sul percorso formativo dello chef. Insipidi e malamente riscaldati gli antipasti. Dulcis in fundo, cannoli siciliani insignificanti ripieni solo ai lati, con cannolo praticamente per lo più vuoto. Il conto è stato il colpo di grazia 241 euro in due. Questo ristorante è un enorme bluff.

15/08/2025: Thank god we did not read the reviews before getting here! We have been twice during our stay in Taormina. Although it might be a tourist trap, delicious food and great service with waitstaff who are so friendly. Don’t be an entitled tourist and you’ll be OK.

12/11/2025: It's getting worse. Arancini cost €2, and today I discovered they're frozen. Piping hot on the outside, still frozen on the inside. Shame! They're getting more and more expensive, and the quality-price ratio is getting worse. A slice of reheated focaccia that cost €1.70 a few years ago is now €4.00. I left it where it was. Don't let these speculators waste your money on people's travel.

09/11/2025: I'm happy you've reopened in the city, but honestly, I don't think I'll be back. I'd stopped buying from you even before you closed: on several occasions, I'd found poorly made arancini, with rice that was too sticky, almost spreadable, and with poor fillings. So, I've shifted my inquiry elsewhere—as they say in economics, I've cast a "vote from the wallet." In town, I've found better options, like Panyllo, where the rice is well-cooked, flavored with saffron, and the filling is generous. I believe it's essential for Messina to offer quality arancini, both out of respect for local tradition and to impress tourists. You at Ancora are the first rotisserie they notice, and if the products are mediocre, you risk damaging the city's gastronomic image. I invite you to pay more attention to some fundamental aspects: 1. Cooking the rice (neither raw nor sticky) 2. Maintaining the presence of saffron (which gives it a golden color and aroma). I mention this because many rotisseries in Messina don't offer it, and the rice looks white, but it doesn't reflect the original recipe imported by the Arabs centuries ago. 3. Crispy breading 4. Generous and well-distributed filling I highly recommend checking out the approach of other establishments like Al Faro del Gusto in Torre Faro (Messina) or Bar Touring in Palermo on Via Lincoln. At both of these places, and anywhere in Palermo, I can confirm, as a Messina native, that Palermitan arancini are always made with the utmost commitment and passion. Messina deserves its arancini worthy of its tradition, as Nunnari did. With a little more care, you could really take things to the next level.

22/09/2025: I was on a trip with my family and we stopped at this place. We wanted something quick, and they offered me a ring of bread topped with tomato and stretched curd. I paid €24 for the bread. When I asked to speak to the owner, you know what he said, "I'm fine. I got a proper receipt, and then I'll charge you for cutting the bread." Shameful, I'm speechless.

27/08/2025: Really sad. This bar used to be a great place to sit in the main square and have an ice cream. Now down at heel and v poor quality

13/08/2025: Everything was great! Deducting one star only because the food selection is a bit limited (very few pasta dishes and no meat dishes with sauce), but what's available tastes great, it's very cozy, and the tables aren't too close together. The service was extremely fast and friendly.

20/10/2025: Very poor place, inedible food, non-existent service, very long wait, very high prices based on the raw materials, stay as far away as possible.

19/10/2025: The atmosphere is very warm and, above all, quaint. The food is very good and plentiful. You can barely taste everything. We couldn't finish the meat 😅 The staff is courteous and kind, especially Mr. Domenico, to whom I owe a special thanks. The owner is also a wonderful person. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

29/03/2025: The six of us paid €50 each (€300 total) for a basic meal of average quality, with less than excellent service. We even included a burger in our bill, which we neither ordered nor ate (which, of course, was removed from the bill after our observation). This is absolutely not a place that could afford such a high price. I'll never dine here again.
