04/08/2025: This isn't anything new; rather, it's a confirmation, a guarantee of quality and courtesy that's been around for years since Carmelo's time. The atmosphere is familiar and informal. The fish, as always, is delicious, from the mixed seafood appetizer with calamari, oxeye, octopus, and shrimp to the grilled fish. The pasta with sea urchins is a staple, but the one with shrimp and cherry tomatoes is equally delicious.

01/08/2025: Located in Santa Maria la Scala in the Acireale area. You arrive and there's no real set menu; you pay based on what you order, especially the weight. In fact, when you enter, the first thing you see is the balcony with the daily produce, where you can choose your favorites. We had a seafood salad with shrimp, octopus, and oxeye, and it was excellent. The highlight was the first course, the linguine with magnosa, which was delicious, rich in shellfish and well-made. The mixed fried fish was good, but nothing special. The service, as far as the waiters were concerned, was all friendly and well-trained, but one downside was that we waited almost 40 minutes for the first course, and it wasn't very busy that evening. The price was very reasonable, considering our choices, which weren't cheap, so I found it fair.

Serata tranquilla, leggera musica di sottofondo (gradevole), se non fosse per il bar a piano di sotto, definirei il contesto eccellente. Servizio attento, ma nulla di esagerato, siamo in una trattoria. Cibi buoni in una lista giustamente contenuta. Prezzo adeguato

15/07/2025: This is the third time we've been to this place, and like every other time, we were delighted with the pizzas, the ingredients, and the atmosphere. I confess that we order the stuffed pizzas even though we know we won't be able to finish them due to their size and toppings. But I can assure you, they're delicious the next day, too. They don't just make pizzas. In fact, our granddaughters tried the XXL cutlet and were enchanted. They deserve every star. Wonderful owners who deserve all the compliments they receive. 06/06/2025: Avevo sempre notato questo locale passandoci davanti in auto e volevo vedere se il cibo meritava così come la location a prima vista…..locale pulito elegante spazioso e con qualche tavolino anche sul terrazzino fuori all aperto…..pizze squisite carne eccellente dolci sublimi (cioccolato e caramello e semifreddo al lime e meringa 🔝), personale gentile e cordiale e servizio rapido e preciso….promosso a pieni voti

26/07/2025: Siamo ritornati in questo locale dopo alcuni anni e posso affermare che Diegolina è una conferma. Si mangia veramente bene e le porzioni sono abbondanti. Consiglio sicuramente i secondi di carne cotti alla brace. Personale molto gentile e disponibile.

06/08/2025: Ci fermiamo a Valguarnera di passaggio e troviamo un locale old style molto grazioso. Piccolo minimal ma molto accogliente. Ti rilassa e ti mettono subito a tuo agio dandoti le giuste attenzioni. Ordiniamo antipasto dello chef con prodotti locali ottimi, il primo del canale fresco e gustoso nella sua semplicità e per finire la tagliata che si scioglie in bocca. Grazie e arrivederci.

24/05/2025: Consigliatoci dalla struttura dove alloggiavamo, questo luogo è ideale per potere fermarsi e mangiare in serenità. L'accoglienza della titolare (e del cuoco) amichevole, il locale è arredato come nell'antica tradizione dei piccoli centri, e con 'ottima scelta di non mettere una televisione in sala che distrae dalla conviviali. Un ottima e soffusa musica accoglie il viandante che si ferma a mangiare. La scelta del menù è ampia e soddisfa tutte le esigenze. Piatti classici come il passato di fave "macco", ed antipasti ricchi e saporiti della cucina tradizionale. Ottimi i primi e succulenti i secondi. Cortesia e qualità. Da non sottovalutare finalmente un tovagliato che non è fatto di carta, per risparmiare. Il prezzo invita a ritornare sicuramente, ma non è questo il motivo, è la bontà delle pietanze e la cortesia con cui si viene accolti. é in centro, ed il parcheggio è facile da trovare.

17/06/2025: I have had the pleasure of returning to *Luci e Calici* several times, and each time it has been an excellent experience. The last occasion was particularly special: my son's communion, an important event that we decided to celebrate here... and we couldn't have made a better choice. Refined food, authentic flavors, attentive and warm service: everything is perfect. But what makes this place truly unique is the atmosphere you breathe. The owners have the rare ability to make you feel at home, with discretion, professionalism and sincere kindness. Whether it's a special occasion or a dinner with friends, *Luci e Calici* always manages to leave its mark. A place to return to willingly, every time with the certainty of being welcomed and pampered. Highly recommended!

13/05/2025: Not tasty at all… not even good enough as a 6 euros street food… especially considering the price, it’s like a scum… As the first meal at Sicily, I really felt very disappointed.

31/07/2025: Delicious seafood dishes. I especially recommend the mussels and couscous! The pizza is also really good. The atmosphere is very lively, often with groups celebrating birthdays or events, making it a great place for an evening with friends and family.

29/07/2025: What was meant to be a relaxed dinner turned into a test of patience, hunger, and basic human decency. We arrived at a packed restaurant, clearly popular with locals. It was loud — very loud — with harsh fluorescent lighting and a tented setup that killed any chance of atmosphere. Still, we sat down, hopeful. That didn’t last long. Fifteen minutes went by. No one came to the table. We flagged someone down — not the person taking orders, just one of the runners. Thankfully, they managed to bring us water. But placing an order? That was a different matter. There was only one person actually taking orders for the entire terrace, and it took 40 minutes before she reached us. When we pointed out how long we had waited, she replied with attitude and insisted we hadn’t been waiting that long. A real professional touch. In the meantime, I drank over two liters of water. Not out of thirst — out of sheer boredom and frustration. Eventually, nature called. The restroom? Let’s just say the floor had a noticeable film on it. What exactly it was, I’d rather not know. There were no paper towels. Not even the bare minimum was covered. Back at the table, more waiting. Another 40 minutes passed. No bread. No olives. Nothing. Just more tables around us being served — guests who had arrived well after we did. Then, finally, my daughter’s pizza came. Ours didn’t. Ten more minutes. Only when I stood up and asked to cancel our food did the rest arrive. To be fair: the food wasn’t cold. It just wasn’t worth the wait. My daughter, overtired and with a bellyache, couldn’t finish her meal. I had lost my appetite altogether. The waiter then offered us dessert or wine — a nice gesture, but completely misjudged. We were barely upright, not in the mood to be charmed or compensated with sugar or alcohol. They gave us a 6 € discount, which honestly felt more like mockery than an apology. Two hours after arriving, we left — tired, disappointed, and still hungry for a decent experience. The wine list? Uninspiring. Cheap-sounding bottles that didn’t make you want to try a single one. The ambiance? A tent full of noise, harsh lighting, and zero charm. The service? Overwhelmed and defensive. There are too many good places to eat. This isn’t one of them.
