06/03/2025: When I go to San Giacomo I always pop in because it's an excellent restaurant and they make one of the best pizzas in the area.

03/01/2025: Il locale sembra ristrutturato da poco. Sala accogliente, grande, un po' rumorosa. Personale gentile, primi piatti e pizze arrivati quasi subito, poi aspettato un po' per i dolci. Ottimo quello che abbiamo preso, cioè e pizze ( in particolare la margarina con speck, raschera e noci) i gnocchi e tutti i dolci, fatti in casa. Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo. Esperienza assolutamente piacevole.

30/06/2025: I must have arrived on the wrong day but we are not there! Too bad because the environment seems promising and has potential! Asked if it was possible to have a very simple pasta in bianco, they brought us agnolotti dipped in oil and gnocchi butter and sage in abundance, as per the menu of the day (the owner said that there was no other pasta and the order arrived like this). Let's leave aside the rest.. If you decide to have lunch in this place, I recommend the sandwiches that seemed really good (2 motorcyclists who arrived at closing time of the kitchen, had to "settle" for the sandwiches but I must say that compared to us, their experience was certainly better!). I give the three stars for the context that is really worth the visit but for the rest it leaves much to be desired (but I repeat, maybe I hit the wrong day!..)

04/06/2025: Excellent fish dinner, especially the risotto with white fish ragù and pistachio cream. Generous portions but above all fresh fish. Spacious place and friendly staff.

25/05/2025: The pizza didn't thrill me, but maybe it's a matter of taste. The sparkling white wine in bulk was finished, but that could be bad luck. The staff was kind.

16/05/2025: Nice place, friendly staff, good pizza, but the karaoke DJ was terrible. All night, even though we asked him to, he made a table of his friends sing continuously, then we asked for a song and he looked for another song and sang it himself. Never again in a place like that, I made a bad impression on my friends by taking them there.

30/03/2025: Piatti a base di pesce curati e di buona qualità. Personale attento e gentile alle esigenze dell’ospite. Locale accogliente e tranquillo. Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Esperienza da ripetere.

23/03/2025: Ci sono stato ieri sera con 7 amici. Cena tutto pesce. Locale carino, personale gentilissimo, pulizia del locale ok, servizio veloce (il locale era pieno), cibo ottimo con porzioni adeguate e prezzi giusti. A me non è piaciuto il tavolo senza nemmeno una tovaglia di carta. Sebbene sicuramente pulito, appoggiare il pane direttamente a contatto con il tavolo in legno non mi garba. 26/04/2025: Tutto vale Per dare voce a chi di voce ne ha persa un po', oggi (in tali momenti clue, il decibel emesso da noi, i commensali, consone ad una trattoria di camionisti della bassa) siamo accolti con la gioia tipica di una giornata nella quale, da queste parti, il tasso di autolesionismo incrementa secondo un andamento matematico iperboleo. Ma in questa culla, tra i monti della val Strona, frequentata da gente a tratti chic, a tratti no, i primi di questa lista come il risottino mantecato alla moda vegia che dona le sembianze dell'eterno savoir faire della cucina piemontese, o come la prima categoria di clienti menzionati, ci si sente coccolati. Normalmente qui gli avventori intuiscono il rischio dell'altitudine. Lo svenimento o il collasso spontaneo dopo aver oltrepassaro la famigerata soglia dei 500 metri, sono naturali conseguenze della distanza dalle loro residenze consuetudinarie. In effetti una piccola (ma spaziosa) chicca, elevata tra i monti chiarendo che, Heidi comunque ci guarderebbe dall'alto verso il basso e Clara qui, non faticherebbe a raggiungerci. Piu in generale un posto caloroso e ricco di piccole sorprese, piacere supportato da un valido servizio: la ricerca del gusto, c'è, il vino, anche. 4 stelle +

07/04/2025: Io ed il mio compagno siamo stati un paio di domeniche fa, a pranzo, presso questo ristorante (attenzione che bisogna prenotare in anticipo altrimenti non si trova posto la domenica a pranzo, non so per gli altri giorni). Per non dilungarmi troppo sintetizzo a punti: - servizio: siamo stati abbandonati per circa 40 minuti (di orologio) solo con in mano il menù, senza sapere che c’erano piatti fuori menù…senza pane, acqua e vino. Nulla. Al momento di prendere l’ordinazione è stato tutto molto frettoloso senza nessuna spiegazione dei piatti del territorio proposti. Peccato. - Sala: molto rumorosa e chiassosa per la quantità di gente (tanta/troppa). - Cibo: nella media buono. I salumi dell’antipasto erano sicuramente di qualità, i secondi piatti ben cucinati ed i dolci nella media (il fondo della mia pavlova purtroppo era rimasto appiccicoso/umido). - Conto: antipasto di salumi, 2 secondi (coniglio e fegato entrambi con polenta), 2 dolci, vino e acqua (no caffè) totale: € 90,00. Secondo me ci sono giusto un paio di euro di troppo, ma anche in questo caso direi “nella media”. Tornerei solo qualora fossi di passaggio, perchè a mio avviso è un posto dove ho pranzato mediamente bene, ma come in tante altre trattorie/osterie della zona. La mia valutazione purtroppo tiene conto del servizio, ma per il cibo sicuramente 4 stelline. :)

15/03/2025: Tre sale medio-piccole con tavoli appiccicati, da faticare a muoversi. Coperto a 4 euro, ma tovagliette e tovaglioli sono di carta. Dopo 20 minuti non erano venuti a prendere nemmeno l'ordinazione delle bibite. Frastuono da non poter parlare, tanto che ce ne siamo andati in anticipo (e così hanno fatto anche i signori dei due tavoli vicini); antipasto scarso, paniscia salatissima. Conto per 1 antipasto, 3 panisce, mezzo litro di vino sfuso della casa e 1 bottiglia d'acqua (niente dolce né caffè): 77 euro. Mai più.

17/05/2025: Reading the other reviews, I can't figure out if I was unlucky or the others who judge based on the color of the walls. At 8.05pm we were seated at the table, at 8.28pm the bread and water arrived. When we asked for a glass of wine, the glasses disappeared and came back already full, it's the first time that the wine is not tasted by the diner first, then poured. After a mathusalemnic wait, the time has finally come to order with a menu that jumps from one table to another as there is only one. About an hour after our arrival. I order a tagliata, the only one not of ungulate, and the preferred cooking method is not requested: they decided the method, fortunately eating the meat almost raw was fine for me, but not with everyone it would have been like that. The preferred type of cooking must be requested, it may not be shared by the chef, but it must be requested! We start eating about 90 minutes after our arrival stuffed with slightly raw bread. I hear our neighbors at the table ordering zabaglione and receive as a response: if you have time to waste because the chef is nervous... 80% of the menu based on fish with an asterisk. In short, in a town of 100 inhabitants at 800 meters above sea level, can you ever have a fish-based menu? I would have expected something more substantial, maybe a good wild boar, a bit of polenta... no, we're not there, it didn't satisfy me at all.

02/05/2025: Fantastic experience. We found the restaurant on thefork and it turned out to be a wonderful discovery. We ordered several menus and each was better than the other. The price is far too cheap for absolutely superior quality. The environment is also very welcoming. Amazing chef!
