10/09/2025: Excellent quality products, excellent coffee, as well as the excellent cake we tasted, I am a companion and inseparable dog (small size) very welcome, beautiful place, which ranges from tables outside in the open air to group tables to rather secluded and quiet seating where you can sit and work (rather than) with PC and smartphone, highly recommended, I will not fail to return🔝🔝

25/08/2025: We came here for breakfast and waited a bit for service. The pastries were decent, so overall, it's an average cafe, very conveniently located near the center.

01/09/2025: Excellent "quirky" burgers: quality ingredients and bread, and options for all tastes. If you don't want a burger, they also have an excellent selection of alternatives! Their dessert is definitely worth trying!

21/08/2025: The thyme-smoked burger made a lot of noise, but little substance. The cream was more cream than Castelmagno. The bread crumbled in your hands. Even the beer... I wonder why they didn't invest in local breweries (Beba is just a few kilometers away) instead of the usual fake semi-industrial ones. The seating was a kind of plasticky pouf where, at 22 degrees, you'd die of heat.

05/09/2025: Excellent trattoria, with a wide-ranging menu of meat and fish dishes. Lunch is a €15 menu, including a first course, second course, side dish, water or wine, and coffee. I highly recommend it and will try it for dinner.

02/09/2025: Lunch review. Menu unclear, courtesy not included in the price. €14 (discussed only at the counter and not clarified at the table) for a small plate of raw meat and fries... as an alternative to boiled hospital-grade vegetables. I won't be returning, but I strongly advise against it, at least for lunch. It's a shame I didn't take photos of the dishes.

04/09/2025: Gross disrespect and friendliness in front of children Edited: Dear manager, I write with respect and sincerity. It wasn't a matter of letting dozens of kids in without using anything, but only a small group of girls and young women who had a concrete need (and who would have used something). These are situations that can't always be simply "sent back to the mountains." When he left, he turned to me in an already tense tone; I preferred to avoid conflict and immediately said we would leave. Despite this, the confrontation continued elsewhere, with words that, especially in front of the children, seemed disproportionate to the context. Even in his response, the expression "someone braver than you" shifted the issue from the concrete to the personal level. I understand that you have had negative experiences with other groups, and I'm sorry. One of our educators (you can put it in quotation marks if you think it's appropriate) reminded us of a basic principle of justice: it's not right to place the responsibility of others on ourselves, because each group should be welcomed and evaluated on its own merits. For years, we have been accompanying young people to the mountains with respect and responsibility. If any of us apologized, it's because we believe in humility and we instill it in our young people. The refusal, in itself, might have been legitimate; what left us bitter was the manner in which we did it. A "no" can be expressed firmly, but also kindly: especially in front of children, who learn from our actions and words. Reviews exist to honestly share real experiences. Ours is this one, shared not out of controversy, but because we believe that hospitality is not measured by logistical hardship (which we experience daily and know), but rather by the ability to treat each person with dignity. I'll add one more fact: the girls then used the restrooms and had something to drink at the bar. The controversy, therefore, was completely unnecessary. Moreover, the group remained outside the refuge fence the entire time.

03/09/2025: I was sad to leave. The food was excellent and plentiful, and the price was great. The owners were very kind and helpful. Just above Macugnaga (about a half-hour walk), it's an enchanting place overlooking the town with breathtaking views of Monte Rosa. I highly recommend it to everyone.

09/09/2025: The food (as well as the drinks) arrived relatively quickly, and it was also very tasty! (The lasagna had ham in it, which we found a bit difficult to get used to.) The service: Everyone was very friendly, and it wasn't a problem at all that we didn't speak Italian and only had elementary English. 😉 The four of us got a seat on the terrace. It was nice, but with a little more creativity and different tables, they could achieve much more, and it would attract more guests. Likewise, the restroom upstairs is in dire need of renovation.

11/07/2025: Skøn udsigt over landskabet. Vi fik en lækker 6-retters tasting-menu med mange lokale særpræg. Omfattende og flot vinkort. Meget venlig og opmærksom betjening. Vi kommer meget gerne igen :-)

14/06/2025: Consigliatomi dalla proprietaria del Gioco dell'Oca di Barolo, si è rivelato un ottima scelta. Una calda sera di giugno, con un tavolo affacciato sul panorama dei colli al tramonto, ci ha dato una occasione indimenticabile per gustare dei piatti molto buoni e accompagnati dall'ottimo vino bianco tipico di Novello. Il gestore, assieme a tutto lo staff, ha assicurato un servizio perfetto durante tutta la serata. Se devo scegliere un piatto, l'antipasto di fiori di zucca farciti fritti - piatto semplice ma esecuzione spettacolare. Peccato per un avventore che, con un sigaro pestilenziale, ha ammorbato la conclusione del pasto (cestini di sfoglia con chantilly e frutti di bosco.... ottimi): sarebbe ora di vietare questa pratica in toto, almeno in qualsiasi luogo pubblico.

06/07/2025: La posizione con la vista del Lago è favolosa. Per il resto tutto da dimenticare.. piatti che arrivano con mezz'ora di ritardo .. cibo dozzinale, servizio sbrigativo e a tratti irrispettoso...

12/10/2025: Not to be missed if you are in the area.. Amazing selection of pizza from the most classic to the most original ones. Beautiful ambient with carefully researched original pieces of decor, from antique to modern. Staff is friendly and loving.

12/10/2025: Modern large size clean rooms with high ceilings and comfortable beds (although I recommend box spring beds for optimal comfort). Staff members are friendly and helpful. Breakfast offers several options such as yoghurt, eggs, bread, cake, fruits, juice, coffee/tea but could be improved in terms of choice (e.g. different types of bread, bio eggs and local marmalades, salmon, granola. Pool in the garden offers a nice relaxation and refreshment area. Oldtimer cars can be admired on availability of the owner.

05/10/2025: I visited the hotel's family's splendid car collection. The reception was lovely, and I had an aperitif in the garden, with excellent service.
