07/06/2025: We were passing by and already from the outside the place struck us for its elegance. Pia good and well-kept acts in very helpful and courteous service. Among other things, I found the fillet à la Voronoff which has now become difficult to find in modern restaurants

22/05/2025: Overall it is a good restaurant where you can tell there is a history and a tradition. The service is excellent. We will return to try other dishes.

24/05/2025: Homemade pasta with sea beans and calamari, pizzas and the regional cheese and slightly sweet tortelli were delicious. All the staff were friendly and helpful, a restaurant worth stopping by.

02/06/2025: In a sleepy and out-of-the-way village in the lower Po Valley like Pizzighettone, I would never have believed I would find such a refined restaurant. Chosen at random for its location under a portico sheltered from an already very hot sun, I found a welcoming environment and a cuisine with original land and river proposals (Pizzighettone is crossed by the Adda River). Nice choice of appetizers (agricultural frittata with giardiniera, chicken salad, small river carpione), exquisite first courses (lasagna with new nettles, risotto with asparagus from the lower Po Valley) and so on until the desserts, all beautiful and good, but among which a truly remarkable limoncello tiramisu stands out. Attentive and friendly service, the managers do everything to make you feel at ease and give you the best advice. Prices are a little high, as is right, for such high-quality cuisine. If you are passing through Pizzighettone... or maybe you go there on purpose!

04/06/2025: Risotto con asparagi ( scotto ) di secondo una specie di polpettone con pezzetti di polpo ( microscopici ) non lo abbiamo mangiato; 25 cl di vino e mezza minerale. 92 euro ... l'acqua e il sale erano ottimi!

05/05/2025: The owner was very hospitable and the aperol spritz was one of the best I’ve had, for a more than reasonable price. Out of the blue he brought us out a selection of crisps and a complimentary pizza slice. Would recommend to anyone staying in Cremona.

04/06/2025: In viaggio da Cremona a Brescia, DeGustibus si perde nella campagna cremonese e alfine, quasi per caso, si imbatte nell’Hostaria. Sempre per caso entra, saluta, si accomoda ed esce certo che mangiar bene si può ! Quel che ho preso non importa, potete prendere quel che volete dall’ampio menù alla carta ( un neo il menù di affari), e uscirete più che soddisfatti. Non è dietro casa ma si fanno viaggi per cause molto peggiori. Quindi tutti all’Hostaria San Carlo ad assaggiare una delle migliori cucine italiane. Naturalmente ad una cifra modica…

04/06/2025: I highly recommend this place, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a caprese and I must say that I was truly amazed by the taste and the plating.

13/05/2025: The place needs a new owner. The taste isn't there, which is a shame. We left three-quarters of the charcuterie board because it wasn't up to par with what we've had in nearby restaurants. Out of politeness, we didn't say anything to the host, but he could see we didn't like it. The ingredients looked good, but ultimately too salty and tasteless. It's a shame, because the setting is truly beautiful and picturesque.

14/06/2025: If I ever return to Cremona I would come back here to eat, or rather to taste. Perfect atmosphere, table service like no longer used elsewhere. For my tastes I would prefer a little less butter. Superfluous to talk about the dishes, all prepared with mastery. All this has a cost and, consequently...that's okay.

26/05/2025: We booked and we specifically asked for a table outside. The person on the phone told me the weather won't be perfect, but they assured me they will serve us outside. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and we said we booked a table outside. They told us they won't be serving us outside (same person I spoke to on the phone), and when I said I was told over the phone they would, he shrugged his shoulders, defiantly smiled and asked if I want to cancel my reservation. I left and won't be trying to come back, this was one of the worst experiences I had in a restaurant. -------------- Update, since the restaurant replied to my original review: I find these comments to be quite surprising since we were not even customers. We attempted to be, but were refused service on the terrace. For avoidance of doubt, the climate was so "merciless" that we were easily able to find a terrace that was more than happy to serve us dinner outside. Given that there are much friendlier options available in town, places that actually care about customers and creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere, I'd recommend seeking them out rather than eating here.
