29/06/2025: We had lunch for the first time in this restaurant and we had a great time. The place is nice, tidy, clean, with tables outside too. The food is excellent, fresh ingredients cooked and presented with care. Decent portions, abundant first courses, all accompanied by delicious focaccia and artisanal bread. The staff is very kind and attentive.

27/06/2025: Update June 2025: go there with your eyes closed. You eat well and with quality ingredients. ‐-‐------------------------- I had lunch with a friend on Friday March 18th, I returned on the 19th with my wife. It is not a trattoria as commonly understood, but it is an excellent restaurant, also as a location. It is not the Rest of taste, but its exaltation. The menu is limited to three or four choices per course, but it is the quality of the ingredients and the preparation that make the difference. A place to put in your Favorites.

11/06/2025: Refined and well-kept cuisine. Original dishes, not abundant portions. Small tastings and sweets for coffee offered by the house. I asked for a celiac diet for my son and they assured me that there are no problems, they bake gluten-free bread and breadsticks. We will definitely return

30/07/2025: Tagliata di manzo cruda,non masticabile.Ho assaggiato solo due bocconi,dopo di che ho dovuto rinunciare. Dopo che ho fatto presente in cassa che ho dovuto lasciare la carne nel piatto, ho pagato per intero una cosa che non sono riuscito a consumare.

04/07/2025: Cenamos aquí esta noche y ¡nos encantó! Pedimos trucha ahumada que se derretía en la boca y tenía un sabor delicioso. Los ravioles de mantequilla y salvia estaban deliciosos, ¡la pizza incluso estaba buena! Mi marido pidió el filete y dijo que era el mejor que había probado en Italia. ¡Deberíamos haber reservado para poder conseguir un asiento con vistas!

02/07/2025: Hoy fue un día de navegar en ferry por el lago. Por la tarde tomé un ferry a Menaggio. Es una ciudad bonita y en mi caminata desde el embarcadero paré a tomar una cerveza en Dal Tato (la cerveza también venía con un acompañamiento de crutones de pan con ajo, ¡delicioso!). Luego continué hacia la ciudad para explorar, ya que quería cenar antes de regresar a Bellagio (donde me estoy hospedando), así que decidí regresar a Dal Tato. El camarero que me atendió antes me reconoció y me dijo: “¿otra cerveza?” Sonreí y pregunté si estaban sirviendo comida. Ellos eran. En lugar de sentarme en un pequeño patio al costado del camino donde me senté antes, me llevaron adentro a un hermoso comedor con vista al lago. Comí ravioles rellenos de queso bitto y bresaola, en mantequilla, con salvia y amaretto desmenuzado. Totalmente deliciosos y los recomiendo.

15/06/2025: On Saturday we celebrated my niece's baptism in this wonderful agriturismo. I am vegan and my husband is vegetarian. A few days before the event I contacted Mrs. Magda (really kind and helpful) to ask if it was possible to have some dishes suitable for us. Since it is a agriturismo, where therefore most of the dishes are meat-based, I admit that I had little hope: I was thinking of the usual two boiled vegetables... And instead we were pleasantly surprised! They prepared a truly excellent menu for us, tasty and abundant, from the appetizer to the dessert! They used many fresh aromatic herbs, such as thyme and mint, which gave the dishes a fresh and delicious flavor. The vegetarian menu was also excellent and rich. A sincere thank you to Mrs. Magda and all the staff for the attention and care you gave us. It was all perfect!

24/08/2025: We booked a table for three at Crotto dei Platani to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday, with a reservation at 8:00 PM. Out of concern that the restaurant would charge €90 for not showing up on time, we arrived at 7:30, right when it opened. Unfortunately, the welcome we received was anything but warm. We kindly asked for a table on the lower terrace — the one with flowers and a romantic atmosphere — which was visibly available. However, instead of accommodating us, we were seated on a separate terrace where there were no other guests. While the table overlooked Lake Como, the view was spoiled by a broken wire fence behind us, giving more the impression of a storage yard than of a so-called fine dining restaurant. We had only wanted to order dessert, since we had dined elsewhere a few hours earlier. The waiters’ attitude was dismissive and condescending when we requested this, as if serving only dessert was beneath them. Their behavior was unwelcoming and far from what one would expect in a restaurant that markets itself as high-end. We ordered a tiramisu, a crème brûlée, a lava cake, and a cocktail (though the menu is almost exclusively wine). The desserts were ordinary — plated nicely, yes, but nothing remarkable in taste or quality, certainly not worth the price. Overall, our experience was disastrous from beginning to end. Crotto dei Platani is not fine dining — it is, unfortunately, a tourist trap dressed up as something it is not. My advice to anyone considering a reservation here: if you want a beautiful view of Lake Como, there are far better options — more affordable, genuinely welcoming, and with food that lives up to the promise.

21/08/2025: I had a divine meal, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Special thanks to Pietro, from Argegno, who served us excellent coffee with a smile and made our day a joyous one.

15/08/2025: I went in August, when it was 38 degrees outside and the air conditioning was practically at its lowest setting. I had to ask for it to be turned on because we were all sweating. The cured meat appetizers were decent. I ordered pizzoccheri and got pizzoccheri soup, almost inedible. So, exasperated and sweaty, we left.

05/07/2025: Occasion Christmas lunch with the family; excellent menu, excellent service and obviously excellent dishes.

09/08/2025: The owner is the rudest I've ever seen. I strongly advise against stopping for any reason. You're dying of thirst, go ahead and don't stop. I've never seen such rudeness, and I've never seen a person who just insulted a potential customer for nothing.

16/08/2025: We made a reservation on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, for a table for four people for the evening of Monday, August 4, 2025. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone didn't tell me that—since Saturdays and Sundays in August are very busy—on Monday, 90% of the dishes on the menu we were given when we sat down WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE! We basically had to eat whatever was left over from Sunday (just polenta and cold cuts) because, essentially, there was nothing available! It's an absurd situation. The restaurant where the meal is served is very small, the tables are very close together, and it's difficult to communicate with friends and family due to the high noise level. The outdoor view is breathtaking, the mountain location offers a wonderful view of Lake Como... but that's not enough to get a favorable opinion from a customer who deserved to be warned, when booking, that this "Baita dal Vikingo" might empty its pantry on Saturday and Sunday, and that Monday guests will have to eat what's left after the onslaught of summer tourists on Saturday and Sunday. Not very serious. And for that, they were capable of charging us seventy-three euros.

16/08/2025: I tried a very creative dish with blueberry sauce, and my companion ordered a pear sauce. Both were savory with a sweet undertone - perfect match for the fantastic view. The patio space is on the smaller side, with wobbly tables. The cuisine was well worth tempering my restaurant pet peeves!

20/08/2025: We were four people, sat down for breakfast and coffee, stayed for about 45 minutes – and then got slapped with a €14 charge just for sitting. Yes, you read that right: they charged us simply for occupying the table. The food and coffee were average at best, nothing to justify the price, and the whole experience left a very sour taste. This kind of practice is nothing but a tourist rip-off and a disgrace to hospitality. If you don’t want to feel cheated, avoid this place. There are plenty of honest cafés and restaurants around where you won’t be robbed for having a simple breakfast.

17/08/2025: I've had lunch at Casottino with my wife 4-5 times in the last 2 years. The place is very pleasant and elegant, the staff is extremely kind and professional, and the food is excellent. My wife loves seafood, and I love risotto. We were both very pleased.
